\u2022 Que « ce rapport devra être soumis au commissqire qui, s'il l'approuve, ordonnera ce qu'il croira juste, et rera signifier au gardien du pont, ou à sa demeure, une copie du dit rapport et de son ordonnance sur icelui ; - Que i si, & l'expiration des délais fixés dans l'ordonnance du commissaire, pour le commencement ou la completion des travaux ordonnés, le propriétaire du pont ou le locataire d'icelui ont négligé de commencer ou de compléter les dits travaux, le commissaire, après avoir constaté lui-même le défaut ou l'avoir fait constater, en fera rapport au Lieutenant-Gouverneur en conseil, et sur ce rapport le Lieutenant-Gouverneur en conseil pourra, par proclamation, ordonner la fermeture de tel pont et déclarer ie propriétaho déchu de son privilège d'exiger des taux de péage .sur icelui ainsi que de tous autres privilèges oui lui avaient été garantis par la loi relativement au ait pont ; dans le cas d'un locataire de pont appartenant a la province, la proclamation ordonnant la fermeture, déclarera tel locataire déchu de tous les droits et privilèges résultant de son bail ; Et que i cette proclamation devra être publiée dans la Gazette Officielle de Québec, et aura force de loi du jour de sa publication ; \u2022 ET ATTENDU que le Commmissaire do l'Agriculture et des Travaux Publics de notre province de Québec a, conformément aux dispositions du dit acte, fait examiner par un ofljpier de son département, un certain pont de péage, connu sous le nom de PONT JACQUES-CARTIER, situé dans le comté de Port-neuf, appartenant à notre dite province, et maintenant en la possession de A.S.Matte et autres, locataires du dit pont de péage ; ET ATTENDU, qie le rapport du dit officier audit département a constaté que ce dit pont Jacques-Cartier est en ruines et très-dangereux pour les voyageurs, et devrait être réparé dans un délai de six semaines ; ET ATTENDU que le dit Commissaire a rendu sur le rapport ci-dessus une ordonnance enjoignant à A.S.Matte et autres, locataires du dit pont Jacques-Cartier, de commencer les travaux de réparation y mentionnés, sous quinze jours de la signification d'un avis à cette fin ; ET ATTENDU que des copies des susdits rapport et ordonnance ont été dûment signifiés au gardien du dit pont, le vingt-neuvième jour du mois de mars dernier, et qu'à l'expiration du dit délai de quinze jours ù compter de la date de la signification du dit avis, tel que fixé dans la dite ordonnance du dit Commissaire, les dits locataires du dit pont ont négligé de commencer les travaux de réparation ordonnés comme susdit ; VICTORIA, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, Ac, Ac, Ac.To all to whom these presents shall come or whom the same may concern\u2014Greeting : PROCLAMATION.Geo.Irvine, T XYTHEREAS in and by a cer-Solicilor General.J VV tain act of tho Legislature of Our Province of Quebec, passed in the thirty-second year of Our Reign, intituled : « An Act respecting the Department of Agriculture and Public Works, » it is amongst other things enacted : That i the Commissioner, whenever ho shall deem it d'-sirable, or whenever he shall be required so to do by one or more persons, may cause any toll bridge to be inspected by any officer of his Department or by any other competent person appointed by him for such purpose, with instructions to draw up a detailed report of the- condition of the bridge subjected to such inspection, the said report to indicate whether such bridge stands in neod of immediate repairs, or whether it should be entirely rebuilt, and to specify the delay within which such repairs or reconstruction may be accomplished ; » That i such report shall bo submitted to the Commissioner, who, if be approves thereof, shall take such action thereupon as he deem, just, and shall cause the bridge keeper to be served either personally or at his residence, with a copy of the said report and of his order thereupon ; i That i if at the expiration of the delays fixed in the order-oftho Commissioner, for the commencement or completion of the works ordered, the owner of the bridge or the lessee thereof have neglected to begin or to complete the said works, the Commissioner after having himself established such default or after having caused the same to be established, shall make a report' thereof to the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, may, by proclamation order that such bridge be closed, and declare tho proprietor thereof to have forfeited the privilege of exacting tolls for passage over the same\u2014 together with all other the privileges conferred upon him by the act respecting such bridge ; in the ca>e of any lessee of a bridge belonging to the Province, tho proclamation ordaining the closing of the same shall declare such lessee to bave forfeited all the rights and privileges arising from his lease ; And that isuch proclamation shall be published in the Quebec Official Gazette, and shall have force of law from tho day of the publication thereof.» AND WHEREAS the Commissioner of Agriculture and Public Works for our Province of Quebec has, pursuant to the provisions of the said act, caused a certain pay-bridge known as the JACQUES-CARTIER BRIDGE, situate in the county of.Portneuf, belonging to our said Province, and now in the possession of A.S.Malto and others, lessees of the said bridge, to be examined by an officer of his department ; AND WHEREAS the report made by the said olllcer of the department aforesaid, has established that the said Jacques-Cartier bridge is in ruins and in a very dangerous condition for passengers, and should be repaired within a delay of six weeks ; AND WHEREAS the said commission rendered upon the report above mentioned, an order enjoining upon the said A.S.Matte and osiers, lessees of the Jacques-Cartier bridge aforesaid, to commence the repairs therein mentioned, within fifteen days from the service of an-order to that effect ;
