She notified the telephone operator in Shawville while Manson dashed for the barn to rescue the stock. He was able to get five calves out head. The fire spread .from the barn to four other outbuildings and demolished them all.The Shawville Fire Brigade and other volunteers did a magni-ficient job of preventing the woodshed behind the house from catching on fire, using water from the well, carry.ng it to the top of the shed — first inside and then out, to extinguish the flames which kept breaking out at the end nearest the fire.If the shed had gone on fire, nothing could have saved the house.and dis- las Shawville got two runs on the scoreboard in thç fifth inning to break a scoreless deadlock.Bryan Murray followed up hits by Yemen and Ranger with a two-run single. In the sixth inning Sweetman smashed a double to score Garrison nnd came across himself on a throwing error to Douglas. The visitors loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning, but a sparki ng double play ?pitcher to home to first# ended the game and brought Douglas to the end of the play. The three straight wins after Ktilll OflIlâÇhCr KÜICt) dropping the opener gave the ¦ a,# Tigers the revenge they have ||| UlldWd ACCIOCm hoped for ever since last year’s sorry effort against Eganville. Moreover the victory has raised the status of the Upper Ottawa League in the eyes of rival Ontario leagues, who have always been inclined to take Pontiac baseball rather lightly. The Tigers come out of the series with a high respect for the Douglas team, both as baseball players and gentlemen. At no time were Shawville able to ease up against their ever-dangerous opponents.Shawville will advance into the Ottawa Valley Senior finals against Pembroke Pirates if satisfactory arrangements can be made. There is a possibility of a game this Sunday in Shawville and fans are advised to tune in the sportscasts on CHOV for further information on the playoff situation.L neups:- ShawviUe: Richardson, Island Fort Coulonge Waltham High school enrolment is 303.The remainder of 458 are in elementary grades.By that game It is proposed, as soon as possible, to close the Wal- and transport the pupils to Campbell’s Bay.It is estimated that total cost of the run will be $6,960.It is proposed to charge pupils using the bus the same fare as has been charged by the CPR for special monthly tickets.A total of $1267 will be realized from this source, which would leave a net cost of $5,698.Of this sum.it is expected that at least half will be paid by Quebec in the form of a grant, leaving net cost after grant of $2,847.Of this sum Waltham School Board absorb an estimated $2,000 for the transporting of elementary pupils to Campbell’s Bay.and leaving $847 to be paid by the Central Board on behalf of the local boards lying to the west of Shawville. No definite decision was reached about a basis of distribution of this remanng sum The game was watched by a large crowd, including an
