and to wish all participating delegates successful conclave this weekend.UPPER OTTAWA TELEVISION Just as we are in high hopes that CFRA will get the license to operate the private TV station in Ottawa, we are also rooting for CHOV to get the nod in Pembroke.In Ottawa the battle is between nine contenders and it is our firm belief that of the nine, the CFRA family is the one which will do the best job for the lower Ottawa Valley and the city of Ottawa.\t.\t.In Pembroke, the only contenders are the CBC and the privately owned CHOV.There are convinced that CHOV will do the best job for the upper Ottawa Valley and the city of Pembroke.CHOV has been interested in television for the Pembroke area, which includes western Pontiac, for thirteen years.Through their efforts a channel has been designated for Pembroke.If the CBC uses this channel for a satellite station, as they propose, it will merely retransmit what is already over CBOT.If Gordon Archibald and the gang at CHOV get the channel, they will be using as much local material as they can, providing a useful additional advertising medium for businesses in the area and generally fufil the needs of a community television station.One interesting aspect of having a local TV outlet in the Upper Ottawa Valley is the possible which could be made of local talent of which there is an unusually great supply centered around Deep River.In this one town alone there probably more well trained choral groups, soloists, instrumentalists, dancers of every description (ballet, Scottish, square) as well as experts of every possible subject such as the gathering and cookery of local herbs, proper methods in photography, ceramics, and other arts and crafts ad infinitum.Such a fund of culture is found nowhere else in Canada and what better way could these well travelled, well educated people enjoy to share their advantage* than a television station right next door?4 When these private TV stations get going, and that could be very soon (CHOV by Christmas \u2014 CFRA by March), Mr.Archibald foresees a possible alliance between the private stations of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Pembroke.He would also be in a position to use what programs he wished from the CBOT and thus could assure listeners of a well balanced TV diet.Every way we look at it, we like the idea and do hope that the Board of Broadcast Governors will recognize that fact when they make their decision.C.W.L Regional Convention Above are seen members of the C.W.L.at the head table during the main address of the convention.Father Tardiff of Mattawa was the speaker.From left to right are, Mrs.Lloyd Brewer, Deep River;
