to remind everyone that the Firemen’s Ball is to be held April 3 in the Community Centre Hall.During the last year, the Firemen’s Association has purchased about $ 1,000.worth of additional fire equipment.Among it were two air masks worth $355.00 ea.which could prove invaluable at a time when lives must be saved from a smoke filled room. Also purchased was additional hose, nozzles, etc.The Shawville Firemen are proud of their truck and equipment and support of the Ball will help them pay for it as well as show them the community’s appreciation of their selfless devotion to duty.tiac Telephone Company.Bell will take over operation in about mx months but can't promise much improvement for several Tuesday night at a shareholdmeeting of the Wright and Pontiac Telephone Company at Hall 70 Becchgrove.248 shareholders voted in favour of selling years the company to the Bell Tde-| phone Co.of Canada $75,000.Seven shareholders were 1958 the LuskviHe exchange swit- not in favor. There are approx- ched to dials.imately 300 shareholders and ^^jtÊtÊÊtÊÊÊÊ many of these voted by proxy, ent manager, Mr.Ldgar Reside Presiding at the meeting was secretary and Dr.McKay will Dr.W W.McKay of Brccken- remain in charge during the take-ridge, president of Wright & Pon- over.ers ?Tj ' w rtagr 9:30 a m.—Holy Communion 11:00 a m.—Sunday School St.Georges, Campbell’s bat 11:00 a m.—Morning Prayer and Sunday School Wednesday, March 18— 8:00 p.m.—Evening Service Thursday, March 19— 10:00 a m.—Holy Communion St.John’s, Moorhead 2:30 p.m.—Holy Communion St.Alban, Kartunao 2:00 p.m.—Holy Communion Start at home VNII KI) CHURCH OF CANAL'A Shaw, ill, Shaw ville Pastoral ( haigt Rev.Stanley E Snowden, BA, BD 10:00 a m —Sunday School 11:00 a m —Service Zloi 2:30 p.m.-Service Clarendon P^tun»1 Chaige Rev.Ludger cmard 10:00 a m.—Yarm 11:30 a m.—Starks 2:30 p.m.—Wesley 7:30 p.m.—Radford Bristol Charge St.Andrews • knot Church Rev.J.B.Sir all, Ba.BD Holy Communion celebrated the first Sunday in Advent, Epip hany, Lent, Easter.Pentecost and l hnstmas Eve Austin Austin St.Andrews knot 11:00 a m.—Service 11:00 a m—Sunday School Campbell’s Bay Pastoral Charge Rev.A.J.Neal No service Dunraven 9:30 a m.—Bryson 11:00 a m.—Campbells' Bay 1:30 p.m.—Waltham 3:00 p.m.—Fort Cou longe March 18— 7:00 p.m.—Dunraven Quyon Pastoral Charge Rev.M.A.Swaren 9:30 a m.—Beeech Grove 11:00 a m.—Quyon 2:00 p.m.—Norh Onslow Aylmer United Rev Garfield Bruce 11:00 a m.—Morning W^—hip Mountain View & Centre Eardley 9:30 a m.& 2 p.m.—Services Fort Coulonge, Quebec You haw come to the crossroads of your life and have not known which way to turn. You have been in the rush of the streets and the turmoil of life.Printed and Published Weekly at PONTIAC P7INTSHOP Shewvilie, Quebec The Equity, Sljawvillc, Quebec, Dear Sir, In answer to the article of Mr Martineau in the Journal of Feb 16th, from Algeria to Pontiac, that would he nice if we had farms for them but if Mr.Martineau wants to do a good deed for Pontiac, tell him to start right here at home By Subscription « S3,00 Per Year Publishers Et Editors MftMBKJt OP CANADIAN WEEKLY NEWSPAPERS ASSOCIATION I here has Keen no I inure to ctti aKnit bringing fanners ^ ^ Sacramentel bread. There Dmvtd and Rosaleen Dickson ha % been no opportunity for the quid review of your life., There is a necessity for a quiet time of self review and self examination in every life.I he Lord is constantly saying to us, “Come ye yourselves apart, into a desert place, and review your latitude and I on gtituiie.'* Those of us who have crossed the ocean know that at mid day on hoard ship observations arc taken of the course of the vessel That should happen in the lives of us all; we should go into some lonely place with our Lord and take the latitude and longtitude of our course and have private fellowship with Him about our way of life. After all, the deepest things in life arc not the Church, not even the Communion of the Lords* Table, not even the study of the Word of God, as necessary and important as these are.Rather it is coming to Him and hearing Him say: “Come ye apart — and rest awhile * It was said by an English leader in 1940 that never in history have the people in Britain spent so much time looking skyward as during the past few weeks. This, of course was during the war years, and whenever the sound of humming has been borne upon the breeze, the people of Britain instinctively turned their eyes upward, wondering whether the enemy was coming.“Eyes Up” is a good habit to form, providing we look high enough. The Psalmist said, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills. From whence cometh my help?My help cometh from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Rise up, O man of God! would have to send their logs, etc., to our sawmills until the year 2020.But we are only looking to manufacture our own. This is not any part of Quebec isolationism at all.It is merely looking for fair
