petered out gradually, the old historic Chapeau Community Hospital was finally closed down altogether, leaving Chapeau bereft of any medical or health services. But on Monday, May 29th, the doors were re-opened on newly decorated premises, presided over by a half a dozen charming young ladies and a part time doctor.Available for consultation and care on Thursday afternoons and all day Fridays, is Dr Claude Desjardins.Appointments may be made with Mrs Gerry Labelle at 69-5080.Homemaker services can be arranged through Micheline Davis at the same number (689-5080).Micheline can provide educational services in the arts of light housework and preparing meals. She can get assistance for families whose usual homemaker is sick or convalescing, or where there is sickness in the family which needs special care, with elderly people and pregnant mothers, and also before and after delivery of a new baby. The registered nurses on staff at Chapeau, Mona Davis and Margaret Burns, will make visits to homes where there are new bom babies and they are planning to hold prenatal They will also conduct immunization and well baby clinics and will be checking children in school to detect problems such as poor vision and hearing. Also, when the doctor requests a home visit, one of the nurses will also perform this function.Social Councilling service is offered at Chapeau by Pierrette Vaillancourt who can help senior citizens with their old age pensions and supplemental payments, and retirement pensions and other matters which might be confusing.Pierrette can also help citizens with unemployment insurance, welfare, Quebec pension plans, family allowance, Quebec Health insurance and other matters, and if a person's problem is beyond her scope, she can refer him to the right service to get help where it is needed.$ % r 3.courses.ïUçjtk-X y.3^, *¦ -.?> MW IWÜ *W a » / ?r?c ;# / #• e* f * ##< 4 * ?rr^ Ê V 1 » Ma Ti*iI ### A$ And there is more.Chapeau Community Services avoided by all as much as possible, no open conflicts are apparent at the local level, except for certain groups ideologically. This . . . „ may arise on occasions where misunderstanding could develop Equity of May 17, 1978 stating her preference for the liquor int0 ^ interpersonal conflicts but as an exception rather store. It is a free country, everyone to their own preferences. No one is depriving her choice of anything she wishes to look at.the liquor store complete with the view of the open air toilet facilities.I have no doubts but that there are people who like the look of a liquor store, regardless of where it is or what it looks like.Deer Editor: In reference to the letter of Mrs Sandra A.Murray in The than the rule.by Richard Bowie Campbell’s Bay eitiaena are being treated to the usual madness on Friday and Saturday nights.Until the hours of the morning, loud, distasteful music, blares out of the open windows and doors of a local hotel.Early morning revellers drive recklessly, with tires squealing, through the streets.Residents complained to the local council last year, but to no avail, as yet.Meanwhile many are having sleepless nights, and threats of further action are ripe.Off the record, did you know that now you must draw up documents in French only; (1) to discharge a mortgage; (2) to register your business or trade name.If you are unable to understand French you won't know what you are signing. This is one more step in the plot to eradicate English from Quebec and one more instance of loss of civil rights.Oh CANADA, stand on guard for us - we stood on guard for thee The "Bear Lake" road question with which many are familiar is rising to the surface again.Several cottagers are threatening to block off the road that has now been maintained by the municipality of Litchfield for a number of years. This road is on the east side of Bear (Leslie) Lake running towards the township of Leslie.A part of the road involved is in Leslie Township. Both municipalities seem to be skirting the issue and refusing to take a definite stand. Many taxpayers in the downright angry and are ready to move If the occasion should arise. This aversion to face to face conflict and the need for impersonal rules results in very rigid organisations with a high degree of centralised authority (Government, Unions, Associations, Clubs, Professional Confreres, etc.) (If they fall a great place for a mandat takeover exists.) summer But, it appears that there are a large majority of the people, both local and outsiders, who do not like the look of the liquor store.Judging by the amount of comments I have heard, before and particularly since my letter of May 8, 1978.The most common comment is, "they sure didn't do anything to This, of course, makes the independence move by certain elements of our society dangerous. The local farmer, teacher, construction worker, professional person and small business man in our province becomes a how it is going to be enforced will be welcomed here, but as long as it exists it is in everybody’s interest to know about it.This is why some officials from the Office of the French Language will be at Campbell’s Bay, in the County Building, on Friday afternoon, June 2, at 1:30.Their stated aim is to explain to municipal and to health and social services how to cope with the language problem created by Bill 101.We have been informed, in writing by the Government of Quebec, that health and social services furnished where there is a majority of English speaking people (Le.Pontiac County), will be excused from conforming to articles 15 to 23 of Bill 101 until December 31, 1983, if they will advise the Office of the French Language before June 16th, 1978.June 16th is two weeks away which will mean that some of these organizations may have to hold special meetings to pass their “freedom of language” resolution and get them to the Office of the French Language in time. This will undoubtedly be explained on Friday to those few Pontiac citizens who have been invited to attend the session.Since the entire population is to be affected, we should all know just exactly what those articles contain. The whole Bill 101 has been published in this paper before, not by the government which is perpetrating it but as a public service by THE EQUITY.But just to refresh everyone’s memory, here are the articles which may be postponed until 1984; but only by specific permission after a specific request.15.The dvfl My lot is not always 100% as it should be, but
