Charles Pirie's farm to purchase 112 dairy cattle that were up for sale, as the Pirie family is getting out of the dairy business.\"We decided that it was time to get out,\" said George.\"It is a lot of responsibility to manage that many dairy cattle.\" George said that if they continued in the business they would have had to hire extra people to help manage it.\"We want to cut hack because it's hard to depend on others to do the work, said George.The Pirie family began their herd in the late 1920s and were officially recorded as milk producers in 1942.All the 112 dairy cattle were sold for an average of $5,000 per cow.The top cow was purchased for $16,200 by a resident from Prince Edward Island.The top calf was sold for $11,700 to a resident from New York state.George said that a lot of the cattle were bought by local farmers.There was great local support,\" said George.\"Many cattle stayed in the community.\u201d George said he was glad that many of the cattle stayed in
