President Francisco da Costa Gomes yesterday refused to oust Communist-backed Prime Minister Vasco Conçoives despite mountiixg pressure from moderate military leaders in Portugal’s explosive political crisis.But Costa Gomes accepted a secondary demand by the moderates for the democratic election of a new 240-man military assembly of the ruling armed forces movement, known by its initials as MFA.Military sources said Costa Gomes also agreed to bring the moderates back into the influential Revolutionary council.In Horta, the capital of Azores island of Faial, right-wing demonstrators attacked and ransacked the Communist party headquarters during the night.Party officials were thrown out of the building but there were no reports of injuries.In Leiria.about 120 miles north of Lisbon, and estimated 2,000 Roman Catholics demonstrated for a return of the Church’s Radio Renasan-cia, which was taken over by the government.About 200 of the demonstrators later gathered outside ceremony.Mrs.Alice McHarg played the wedding music.Baskets of summer mixed flowers were used tb decorate with cluster bows and streamers of white satin marking the guest pews.The bride was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father and given in marriage by her parents.She was wearing a gown of white peau de soie fashioned with long lace sleeves, a high neckline and cummerbund effect highwaist having a jewelled ornament at the V front from which the skirt was gently flared to drape into a cathedral length train A Juliet cap of lace in floral pattern held in place her bouffant elbow-length veil of nylon tulle that was edged with floral lace.She carried a nosegay of white and yellow mums and yellow shasta daisies with yellow satin ribbon streamers.Miss Heather Bishop of Edmonton.Alta., as maid of honor for her sister was in a princess-styled gown of pompador satin in heaven blue featuring a wide bertha collar that fastened at the back The bridesmaids.Mrs.Robert Matthews of Greenfield Park, and Miss Nancy Bishop.East Angus, cousins of the bride with Miss Tammy Bishop as junior bridesmaid for her sister were in gowns fashioned alike of pale blue polyester cotton flock having an allover pattern of flowers in harmonizing colors with bertha collars and side sashes to loop at the back with streamers on the slightly flared skirts They each carried long-stemmed yellow mums and yellow shasta daisies adorned with yellow satin ribbons The groomsman was David Gillam of Edmonton.Alta .who a tuxedo like the groom, wore white linen jacket with blue ruffled shirt and black trousers.The ushers were Mr.Irving Harrison, brother of the groon; Mr.Robert Matthews, and Mr.Allen McLeod, both of Bromp-tonville They and the fathers of the couple wore light blue linen jackets with blue linen shirts and black trousers.Their boutonnieres were white carnations The bride’s mother, Mrs.Bishop, chose for her daughter’s wedding a gown of apricot color sheer over affeta featuring accordion oteated three quarter length !Wves and pleated ful! length skirt Her accessorie.-> were in silver, her corsage was yellow mums and shasta daisies.The groom's mother, georgette crepe accented with a corsage of white carnations The groom's paternal grandmother, Mrs.Idella Bain of Sawyerville, was in a multicolor silk crepe gown and wore a corsage of white carnations Mrs B.W.Stewart of the Grace Christian Home.Huntingville.was unable to attend but the bride and groom visited her later The reception was held at the Del Monty Moon Palace dining room where a turkey dinner was served to 165 guests The tables were decorated with lighted white candles and vases of sum mer flowers The bride's table was centred with the triple-fruited wedding cake, made by the bride's mother and decorated by Mrs Horace Doyon in white with roses and green leaves and topped with a bride and groom in front of a heart of tulle on a pedestal of pearl The tiers were sprinkled with daisies which fell upon the mirror base, at one side blue daisies cascaded from the top to base and was adorned with tiny lighted white candles The blessing was said by Mr George Cox of Montreal Mr Douglas Willard of Greenfield Park, was M C and proposed a toast to his niece, the bride Several other toasts were proposed united by the attendants and the parents of the couple with the groom responding The couple circulated among the guests to present the wedding cake, wrapped and adorned with a thank-you message The tables were cleared and the remainder of the evening was spent dancing and socially with music played by Lise Flanders on her electric organ The bride tossed her bouquet which was caught by Julie Emery, niece of the groom.Steve Harrison of Ottawa, caught the blue lace trimmed garter thrown by the groom.Later, Mr and Mrs Harrison left for overnight, then spent the remainder of their holidays with their parents in Rock Island and Massawippi.and in other communities
