IWg'W.page 2 February 13 - February 19, 2009 RECORD _ ——— TALK All You Need is Love Maurice and Tanya Singfield Special to the Record * -yhen you truly love what you’re doing, it’s % /% / not that difficult to do.In fact, it’s kinda \J \J fun.We have been so fortunate at CIDI » ?that there have been so many people willing and able to put in their time and effort producing shows, doing interviews, digging up guests to interview, doing odd jobs in the office and volunteering their time and talents.It hasn’t been so long since we’ve actually been on air.If any of you have any ideas or suggestions, we welcome you to participate.Please let us know what you think of our programming so far.CIDI is here to serve you and all our communities and we need your input to make it successful.What would you like to hear?What do you not want to hear?So far, we’ve come up with many different concepts and ideas, different shows and hosts and guests.We have community bulletin board announcements for upcoming local events which are updated every Thursday.If your organization has something coming up, just give us a call and we’ll be only too happy to include the announcement (free of charge) to promote your event.We hope to expand our tower power so that our station will be able to reach a wider audience, but in order to do that, we will have to raise more money.Hopefully sooner rather than later because we have already had numerous inquiries from various people wondering when they would have access to CIDI in their area.Its coming, we’re working on it.There is nothing we’d love to see more than to be available to a wider audience.We are constantly developing new shows and new concepts and thinking about improving everything we do.We have only been on air for three months, and actually, we’ve done a pretty good job so far, but we always want to make it better.We want to be the best that we can be, why not?Let’s not say “Oh, that’s good enough!” If we are capable of making it so much better, and with all of our talented and dedicated volunteers we certainly are, then let’s go! Four Wheel Drive is all about the music Compilation of popular local artists Jen Young Sherbrooke Each one of Four Wheel Drive’s members has made a name for himself in local bands that almost every Townshipper has heard at one time in the past; Jerry and Joanne, Black Canyon, and Little Foot to name only a few, but according to lead guitarist Philip Patton, ‘it’s all about the music’ for the newly formed group.“Any music is good music and that’s what it’s all about,” says Patton who has been playing music for at least 22 years locally.“I’ve got four or five bands on the go, but this one is getting a lot of attention.People are loving Francine.” Patton is referring to lead singer Francine Hamel.“Francine was playing with Black Canyon in Montreal.She’s opened for the likes of George Jones.She was driving to Montreal each weekend and 1 got to talking with her and asked her if she would want to play with us and now she is.She’s got a really cool stage presence and she wins everyone over.She’s been singing for a long time.Her dad was into music too, it’s in her family.” Four Wheel Drive has been ripping up the local country scene since last spring, most recently last weekend at The Hut in Lennoxville, and Patton says its stellar members bring their expertise to a stage that garners full dance floors.Singing with Hamel from time to time, but littering the stage with his bass expertise, is former Little Foot’s Gerry Goodsell and for those who used to frequent local bars in the 70’s and enjoy the stylings of Jerry and Joanne, Bruno Hamel’s drumming accents the country venue perfectly.Patton himself is no stranger to hot venues, especially after his trip to Nashville.“Yeah, I’ve been to Nashville.I took a ride for the hell of it and played with guys who play for the big names,” he says, adding that the crowds make it all worthwhile.“I just love to play, anything.Any music is good music.A dance floor full of people dancin’ and having fun on a Saturday night feels good, but it’s really just the music that I do it for.” The guitarist says that they never mix styles though.“If it’s a country night then it’s a country night.If it’s a rock night, it’s a rock night.We play it all, but not in the same gig.” Four Wheel Drive will be playing on March 28th at The Hut for the annual Lennoxville Elementary School fundraiser.RECORD February 13 - her job as costumer of A&E Network’s “The Beast,” airing Thursdays, to dress Patrick Swayze and Travis Fimmel.“I know, it’s awful, isn’t it?” she.says, joking about the two handsome stars, who play' FBI agents.“The woman who called me (to hire her), 1 told her, ‘You could give Travis a kiss for me,’ And, they are just as adorable on the inside.” Playing a youthful undercover FBI agent in Chicago means that Fimmel’s character, Ellis Dove, is a bit hip and edgy but not so fashionable that he draws attention to himself.Kaufmann describes Dove’s look as “sexy cool.” “His black leather jacket is Hugo Boss, and I bought so much of his stuff there,” she says.“It’s hard in television,” Kaufmann says while driving in the snow in Chicago.“When doing that many episodes, sometimes they change six to eight times per show.I didn’t want it to look like he had an enormous amount of lashiony clothes.I made a closet for him, and 1 have him stick to it.One of the things Travis was really wanting was to really wear his stuff out.He wears his jeans four rimes a week.“He felt really strongly about that,” she continues.“Sometimes actors say that, and halfway through, they say, T want more clothes.’ He never did.We bought him Dickies.It’s what gas station attendants wear.A lot of hip-hop guys wear them.The pants and shirts, he does occasionally look like a gas station attendant.Diesel jeans that looked fairly basic and worn-in and look great on him.We did a lot of the layered T-shirts to keep it youthful and bought some of those at Lucky Brand.It ranged from Urban Outfitters to Barneys.” Like all costumers, Kaufmann finds herself constantly shopping and has picked up pieces at Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom.His shoes were kept regulation hipster: black, low-top Converses and work hoots she picks up at Army and Navy surplus stores.When asked about Ellis Dove’s style, Fimmel says, “1 don’t give a s— about costume.He wears Dickies.1 just make sure notliing matches.” Why would anyone want
