AcRRoMla f *^B- brome LOUtlty INEWS Wednesday, February 23, 2005 page 3 Band wants you to listen to Anything But Reason COURTESY ANYTHING BUT REASON Anything But Reason is (left to right) Ryan Clarkson, Paul Giddingsjoe Lambert (front) and Derek Charby.By Wendy Denman Record Correspondent Local band Anything But Reason will be competing in the international Emergenza contest for up and coming bands on March 5 in Montreal.“We want all our friends in the Townships to know, we’d just love them to come and support us,” said band member Joe Lambert.“It’s a big deal and we’d like to have our greatest fans there.” The four band members — Lambert, Ryan Clarkson, Paul Giddings and Derek Charby — have been together for six years now, produced one CD and have a couple of demo tapes making the rounds."We cut our teeth at the local watering holes, The Pub, The Thirsty Boot, the Brome Hotel.We picked up our true fans playing at these places," Lambert explained.Anything But Reason has also played Townshippers Day, Brome Fair, as well as clubs in Montreal.They have also competed in other contests.“We’ve competed in smaller contests, but The Emergenza contest is one of the big ones,” explained Lambert.“They hold contests all over North America and Europe.This is a big opportunity for us.” Clarkson, Giddings and Charby were born in Knowlton, Lambert in Fulford.“We all went to Massey-Vanier High School, though not at the same time, there’s a bit of a difference in our ages, but six years ago we came together just for our love of music and playing and we’ve been together ever since,” he said.Describing themselves as a hard rock group, the band writes all its own material.“I write the music, the others write the lyrics.We work well together,” continued Lambert.The Emergenza contest takes place at Le Swimming, 3643 St-Laurent Blvd.in Montreal on Saturday, March 5 beginning at 9 pm.Tickets are $18 at the door.“We want back home to know we are doing okay,” added Charby.“Hopefully, Knowlton will want us to come back and play soon.” Last year, Sherbrooke band Pete Moss, won the Emergenza competition in Montreal and ended up playing its music at the Emergenza Music Festival in Germany.Band members won a couple of individual awards, including Best Rhythm Guitarist and Best Singer.The band finished fifth overall at the festival.C.K.’s INCOME TAX SERVICE & BOOK-KEEPING Bilingual & Confidential Individual Income Tax returns Self-employed Small businesses Pick up
