Mr Ferras said as he stood out in the cold and blistering wind Since that time they haven t stopped fishing on the winter weekends They wait until the tip up starts to bobble and they run slipping and sliding sometimes falling, to get to the hole before the fish gets away “You know, this is a great sport It all depends on the weather.— whether or not the fish are biting Gary Williams said Prostitute testifies at Saulnier hearing Montreal (CP) — A 32-year-old former prostitute said Tuesday she first met Police Chief Jean-Jacques Saulnier in 1963 or 1964 while he was in a Montreal nightclub with a policeman and the owner of the establishment She was testifying at a Quebec Police Commission inquiry into the conduct of Mr Saulnier while he was in charge of the Montreal morality squad from 1963 to 1967 At the request of her lawyer Frank D Shoofey.the name of the witness was forbidden to be published ir her own interest, or the name initials and ad dresses which might be mentioned in her testimony The witness testified under the protection of the Canada Evidence Act She said she had seen Mr Saulnier at the club fairly often, about once a week or every 15 days He spent some two hours drinking and talking with the two persons accompanying him on this particular occasion she said Asked if she had seen the owner in other places, the witness replied 1 have a record and 1 II say it right away I had a friend who was living in the milieu and I sometimes went to s00led television coverage of the opening of Parliament in Ottawa Thursday CBC m a parepared statement, blamed the change' on NABET The* coffHuatiori approaches! forgotten you can build with cotton Dear Header—I am sure that many people will get a chuckle out of your letter I might add that it is also safer than silicone injections, cosmetic surgery and a lot of other things Dear Dr Lamb My friend has high blood pressure for which medication is taken I have learned that an electrocardiogram was taken but do not know the results From this 1 presume there is a heart condition. My question is how dangerous ! ii i.be cari y in a on a romance in this condition in an age bracket of 50 to 55?I know now what they mean when they say it is “an affair of the heart.” as mine (which is normal» really beats too last for comfort Nothing has been said by either of us as yet to acknowl edge the affair, but I can tell by the smiling eyes laughing at nothing heavy breaching and occasional sigh or catching of the breath that the feelings are mutual It has been a heavy strain on my health Can t eat, can’t sleep can’t concentrate and it shows on me Could this be construed as emotional strain?Dear Header—There are an awful lot of people who have new romances and new marriages even after having had heart attacks There is no question but what emotions do affect the heart and your observation that your heart speeds up is perfectly % alid H i ¦ nn indication oi the increased work of the heart and circulation in response to emotional stimulation Don’t it is a good idea for individuals who are still interested in life and romance to stay in reasonably good physical condition That means maintaining a proper sensible exercise program and weight control Put plainly, it can have an influence on one’s love life It can be a lot more frus trating and damaging to a person’s total physical health to love and be unloved Don t forget that the psychic emotional health is an im portant factor in physical health and a good satisfying healthy emotional relation ship between two people is good for the psychic health The second forty forum for mature women CONCEITED SON IN-LAW Dear Margaret Brookfield: My daughter who is 18 recently married a boy of 21 That was seven months ago 1 never liked the boy because I always thought he was conceited Now the situation seems to be getting worse day by day My daughter tells me her husband cares more about his looks his hair and his outward appearance than he does about her She says he thinks he's irresistible to everyone and believes there s no one living who’s better than himself She has tried talking to him to get him down off his high horse but every time she brings the subject up.he seems to get worse She doesn't know what to do and is at her wit s end She needs some advice and I don t know what to tell her A N.Dear A.N.: The situation sounds problematical indeed Unfortunately, the only points of view we have are your daughter's and yours We know nothing of her husband s side of the story What isn't dear is what those young people saw in each other and which of the two encouraged the relationship in the first place However, if your daughter is as distressed as you indicate, it might be a good idea for her to try to get her bearings If your town has a branch of the Family Service Society, she should be able to get some personal counseling Or if there's a clergyman she could talk to.this might also help And the young man.of course, should also be encouraged to tell his side of the story + + + NORMAL DESIRE DEAR MARGARET BROOKFIELD: Perhaps my problem is somewhat different from the ones you deal with I ve been a widow since age 65 and don’t seem to be able to get used to living alone Sometimes I get so lonely I could scream I m in good health and would marry again if I could find some nice person about my age who wanted to get married Do you think it’s normal for a woman my age to feel this way ’ T.A.DEAR T.A.: It is indeed Many men and women widowed in their 60’s, 70 s and even 80 s have been known to want to marry again, and some have done so happily (The wish to be close to another person is a very human one And it doesn t stop at any particular age ) The practical problem of couse is to find a suitable partner which isr always easy There are a few good men around, however, so there’s no reason why you shouldn t keep looking While you re at it.wny not busy yourself with other matters to keep from getting too lone!} You might volunteer your services at the local hospital or other community organization You might be a foster grandmother at a foundling home You might pursue a hobby which has long interested you Or you might get involved in various club activities The important thing is to stop looking at those four walls and get moving OLD OVERNIGHT DEAR MARGARET BROOKFIELD: Urn 41 years old but most people guess my age as 28 or 29.Since I do look that much younger.I sometimes think that someday I might just turn old overnight I really don’t worry about it a lot.but it occasionally does cross my mind when I run into friends I haven't seen for years and who are already grandmothers ('an one turn old overnight0 Or does it happen gradually0 I have four children, ages 7 through 18 and lead a busy, busy life J.M.DEAR J.M.: The reason people think you might be 28 or 29 is that you’re obviously a vital, active woman leading your busy busy life That’s what s keeping young is all about But there are other factors too Genetics can play an important role in terms of the kind of skin and bone structure one inherits And you re probably fortunate in that respoct ) The state of one s health is important too — the better you feel the better you look But the crux of this matter of youthfulness seems to be what the individual puts into his life and what he gets out of it So.although you can’t count on getting any younger, you needn t worry about turning old overnight .lust keep that energy going and that light in your eye and you II be fine DEAR MARGARET BROOKFIELD: 1 m 47 years old When 1 was 45.my periods stopped About that time.I had a bad case of insomnia and could hardly sleep I still have difficulties but don t like to take sleeping pills What causes this sleepless condition and what can be done about it ' S.V DEAR S.N.Doctors tell us that when a woman goes into the menopause, her body undergoes a number of changes and many symptoms can occur at that time Insomnia is often one of them According to a recent clinical report, over 60 per cent of the women in your age group were afflicted with chronic sleeplessness Physicians say this is often due to declining levels of estrogen, which can affect a woman s general equilibrium To find out what your own situation might be why not visit your doctor0 Tell him about your insomnia and get a complete checkup If he finds you have a hormone deficiency he might suggest estrogen replacement therapy to restore your body s balance This treatment has been known to bring relief in many cases of insomnia and to help with other symptoms .
