“Ladies’ Night” will be observed at the Club house on Wednesday evening next.Members are requested to meet at the post office in uniform at eight, o’clock.Sleighs will leave for the club house at 8.15 sharp, one going via Montreal, Queen, D minion Avenue, and London j Streets, and the other via Commercial ana I Melbourne Streets.These sleighs are for ladies, and ladies only.THE CANADIAN RAND DRILL BONUS.^M V'^T V v W- V-% sr N V * A * *r- v -x A public meeting was held at the City Hall this morning when Mayor Fortier was avthorized to call a vote to approve or disapprove of by law 191, «hich is known as the Canadian Rand Drill bonus by law.Mayor Fortier granted the request and the voting will take place next Monday and Tuesday “MtTb” VICTORIOUS.Beat Quebec by Seven to three.The hookey match on Saturday e\ei-ing between Quebec and the “Meta ’ one of the beat attended this season.A gi*od deal of feeling had been aroused over the fact that the visitors, although they btat the “Meta ’ 111 Quebec two weeks ago, were not looked up u as h.ing greatly superior to the home aggîegat on if they were as good.It was also known that the “Mete” had put in a hi*rd week’s practice and we e in splen lid condition.It was about half past eight when the teams stepped o the ice and it was easily seen that the Ancient Capital representatives were far heath r.At about twenty minutes to nine Capt.T.Somers read the riot act and cautioned the teams 'against rough \ lay.The play had not proceeded but a few ininutts when it was at once observable to the spectators that such a caution was necessary, t hie or two of the Quebec team were known as players who were not particular as to what tactics they used.It is not often th tt the captain of a team is singled out as a mean man on the ice, but this ert’-tainly was the case with Cahill of Queliec.All through the gone this player seemed to have it in f r '-ne or the other of the players.He well sustained his reputation, as also did several other nieniv>« rs of the club.O’Meara, the goal keeper, was ruled off for foul tactics, and all through,played a very rough game.This actics on the part of Qu bee was quite uncalled fi r Certainly Sherbrooae did not begin rough work, and all through they played a gentlemanly iramo.IV r haps they got nettled t having so many goalssci>rtd against th» m hutsur.ly they are sportsmen enough to take their me.icineas other teams have done before, gracefully, 'they would have been much inoie respected had they done so.Capt.Somers made an efficient referee and gave entire satisfaction From the first no fears were entertained for Sherbrooke.They g »t down to work immediately and made matters hum for the Quebecers.The visitors goal was assaulted repeatedly in the first it w minutes and in six minutes first blood was drawn in favor of the home team.Matters opened up again with a swing, with every one well sustaining a hard fight.A splendid stop by Rocque was all the look in that the visitors had when in six minutes again number two was notched for Sherbrooke.This seemed to raise the ire of the visitors for they resorted to all manner of tricks.The third game was sco ed in six minutes thus giving the “Mets" three goals to nothing 111 the first eighteen minutes.The fourth game was taken by Quebec in five minutes, and four minutes later the “Mets” again sc red, and just at half time Quebec put through the sixth game On resuming at halftime the game was hard arid fast, and the visitors goal was well surrounded and some very close calls were the result.Only once in a while would a rush be witnessed on the part of Quebec but it came to nothing.During the first twenty six minutes the game was pretty well up the iqe towards the visitors goal and t liijfies a general mix up would take plaae.A beauty was sent in from Worn bell and passed O’Meara.Two other goals were scored for Sherbrooke in quick succession and within a brief spice of time Quebec scored their third and last goal.The boys on the home team put up a splendid game and although it would he invidious to mention one more than the other we cannot refrain from drawing attention to But'er, the new man on the home team.He played a magnificent game and is indeed a great acquisition to the team.That his work was appreciated was evidenced by the popular calls from the spectators.Rocque is a cool ’un in goal.He never seemed to get flurried and does his work in a manner which evoked much praise.The teams lined up ai follows : — QUKKKC POSITION MKTS O’Meara goal F.Rocque H.Copeman point J.Davis C.Cahill (Capt.) c.point E.*Spafford(Capt.) at the Lennoxville car and backed into the front of the car, with the result that the sleigh was badly smashed, but fortunately Mr.Spafford and his two sons escaped without injury.THE LENNOXVILLE
