it’s amazing how fast even a modest jewelry wardrobe can add up to a value of three figures or more. For this reason, we advise our customers to protect their possessions with adequate insurance loss.Your insurance agent can give you sound advice on the type and amount of policy best, suited to your needs. In the case of new merchandise, your sales slip, if sufficiently detailed, may be used as an appraisal record. If you are insuring gems and jewelry received as a gift or through an estate, the insurance carrier may ask that you obtain an appraisal from a recognized jeweler.Often, a standard form is given for this purpose.Naturally, the appraisal is only as good as the knowledge and competence of the person making the examination. For this reason, you will want to select your jeweler with care.As a member of the American Gem Society, we are well versed in appraisal procedure. All AGS members must prove their gemological knowledge in the evaluation of diamonds, and colored stone identification.Annual examinations must be passed to make sure members are keeping up with new developments in the world of gemology and scientific identification.Appraisals are usually charged for on a time basis. In the case of a detailed appraisal, one or more days may be required to complete the analysis. However, you can be assured of its accuracy, even in the case of particularly difficult gemstones.Baptiste Society w-hich owns a warehouse on that street.WALSH — J.H.Walsh, President of the Quebec Cen-trail Railway.WALTON — Named after J.G.Walton, a printer.WELLINGTON — Duke of Wellington, Victor at Waterloo in 1815.WESTMOUNT — Topographical name.WHITE — Mr.Justice Wm.White, judge and mayor in 1886.WHITING — J.C.Whiting owner of the Whiting Building which housed the City Hall until 1921.WIGGETT — J.W.Wiggett mayor in 1882.WILLIAMS — Family name.WILSON — W.H.Wilson alderman: 1901-1903.WINDSOR — A Castle and | Duchy in England.WINTER — Topographical name.WOOD — Major I.Wood mayor in 1891.WOODWARD — Family name.WORTHINGTON — E.B Worthington mayor in 1901.WRIGHT — Family name.WYATT — Lawrence Wyatt cashier at the Eastern Town-j ships Bank.Y’ORK — An English Royal House and Duchy in England, j YOUVILLE — Marie - Marguerite Youville (1701-1771) who founded the Order of s the Grey Nuns.YPRES — French City : where the Canadians fought j in 1914-1918.ADAM — Msgr.Leonidas Adam, first rector who founded the Christ-Roi parish. His brother, Canon Amedee Adam was a spiritual director at the Seminary of the Apostles.DUNANT — Jean • Henry Dunant a writer, who founded the Red Cross Society (1828-1910).GRAVEL — Msgr.Albert Gravel, P.D.former rector of St.Joan d’Arc.A famous historian who wrote many books, mainly the “Vade-Mecum du Sherbrookois.” GUILLOT — R.F.Adalbert Guillot, C.ss.R.rector: 1927-1933.GOUPIL — Brother Goupil of the “Freres de la Charité” was the first director of the Pius X school.LAJOIE — Antoine Gerin-Lajoie from Yamachiche: author of the book “Jean Rivard le défricheur.” MARIE REINE—East W ard parish founded in 1956.POULIN — Brother Jean-Marie Poulin of the Freres de la Charité Order who first settled here.QUIRION — Canon Lorenzo Quirion who founded the As- Is sentenced to 15 days Maurice Duval, 22.of Scots-town pleaded guilty in Sherbrooke County Sessions Friday to a dual charge of stealing six cords of wood and a car hoist form a Megantic manufacturing company. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail.* » * Released from prison 12 days ago, for breaking and entering, an Asbestos man pleaded guilty in Sessions Court to stealing a car valued at S1200 from Rayomnd Duc-los.The man, Howard Cayer was sentenced to two years in penitentiary by Judge Benoit Tunnel.Three men are held hr armed holdup at caisse populaire 1 11 I CC men are being held for questioning in Slier-brooke jail cells in connection with an early morning armed robben in a Chartieivillc caisse populaire Friday.t he trio were refused bail, Saturday morning, by Judge Redmond Hayes, in order to allow police to continue their investigation of the holdup.I he\\ will appear in court Wednesday, where another request for bail will be made In counsel Ravnald Frechette.Struck by a car Four year old Sylvie Ponton of 1275 St.Louis Street was hit by a car driven by Gaston Roberge of 1365 Kingston Street while attempting to cross St.Louis Street, Saturday morning. She was taken to the Hotel Dieu Hospital and released after being held for observation, it was reported by Sherbrooke municipal police.Mctured Saturday evening, left the senior officers attending the by 9 Militia Group Headquarters J.M.Hawkins, CD, C.O.of The RCAC; Young can double his money with his London Life policy A London Life Jubilee policy is a unique investment. While it gives protec-lion year after year, il also builds surprising savings.Consider the case of Douglas Young: I The NEW 200 Wellington N.OPEN THURSDAY till 10 p.m.CLOSED ALL DAY GOOD FRIDAY Open All Day on Saturday.Make Mozart's your Easter Shopping Headquarters.rN may of 1962.Douglas Young graduated from the University of Western Ontario and joined the Marketing Division of a large Canadian company.Three months later he bought a 520,000 profit-sharing policy from London Life. His age: 22.His premium ; S25.85 a month.(This is a special whole life policy that gives lifelong protection but requires premiums only to age 65.) By age 65, he will have paid 513,338 in premiums. How much will he get hack ?If he leaves his dividends with the Company to age 65, he w ill then have savings of about 532.120.This is made up of SI 3,440 in guaranteed cash value and 518,680 in accumulated dividends.( I he dividends above are based on London Life's current dividend rate. While they arc not guaranteed, the Company has had an outstanding record of dividend growth for over 50years.For example, since 1951 thedividend rate has been increased seven times.) // he lives, his family will be protected for 43 years and he can get hack over twice as nuu h money as he has paid in premiums. When Douglas is 65 and ready to retire, Loudon Life will give him three choices) (a) He can keep his $20,000 policy and continue to build savings.(Remember, his premiums stop at age 65, so he won't pay a penny more.) (b) He can withdraw his savings as a lump sum.(c) He can use his savings to provide an annuity for life or for a set number of years.Douglas realized that a crippling accident or long illness could cut off his income just as quickly as death. So for less than the cost of a steak dinner once a month, he added the disability income feature to his policy.Should he he unable to work for more than six months, London Life will send him a cheque for $200 on the first of each month. His wife Brenda, and son David, arc well protected. On top of the profit-sharing policy, he added $40,000 of London Life convertible term (for a modest additional premium).m Protection for Brenda and young Du\\id is an important part of Douglas' London Life plan.Later, as his income climbs, he plans to change his temporary insurance to permanent profit-sharing insurance. His policy allows him io do this without a medical. In a financial emergency, he can borrow on the cash value of his Jubilee policy.Quickly and quietly.I he interest rate is 6% comparable with banks’ regular lending rates and much lower than personal loan companies’.Here are four more reasons why a London Life Jubilee policy is such a good investment : ( I ) A Jubilee policy is just as safe as high-grade bondsand much safer than most common stocks. It is particularly attractive because w'hile it earns you money it also protects your family.(2) London I ife dividends are high partly because the Company invests w isely and prolit-ably in Canada.(In 1963, the Company earned 5.54"„ on its investments after investment expenses.) (3) I he London Life Insurance Company operates only in Canada. One reason premiums arc low is because Canadians, on the average, arc long lived.(4) Flexibility is an important point.W'ith the help of a London Life representative, you can build a program that fits your needs. For example, if you are under 40, you can reserve the right to buy more insurance later on - without a medical. You can pay premiums on a monthly budget plan. You can add on extra protection while your children arc growing. No two men have the same insurance needs; what is right for Douglas Young may not be right for you. That is why London Life representatives arc schooled to custom-tailor insurance lu lit the individual, ^ I 8HERBROORK DAILY RECORD, MON,, M AR.23.19641 Women's groups FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH LADIES’ AUXILIARY would be the guest speaker a ! strip Cassius Clay of heavyweight title NEW YORK (AP)—The move of the World Boxing Associatior.to strip Cassius Clayr of his heavyweight title may lead toj a "big, big mess." Ed Lassman, president of the WBA, said in Miami, Fla., Sunday that Clay's personal actions, has made him a "detriment to the boxing world" and that he; was polling the WBA's 20-member executive committee to declare the title vacant.Lassman said that only 11: votes were needed and that he expected to announce a "favorable vote" Friday. The champ himself—or Muhammad Ali as he prefers to be
