Ladies’ Aid to replace its usual May meeting.The occasion was to bid farewell to Mr.and Mrs.Andrew Moffat and to honor Miss Joyce Hawley, whose marriage will take place on 23 of this month.Mr.Fred Knights acted as chairman for the evening.A short program consisting of music and readings, was presented and Mr.Knights also showed interesting slides made from photographs he had taken of local scenes and of places he had visited in England.Then followed the special features of the evening, as Mr Knights, on behalf of the congregation and various friends and neighbors, presented Mr.and Mrs.Moffat with a farewell gift of a purse of money.In making this presentation, Mr.Knights expressed the appreciation of the church to Mr, and Mrs.Moffat for their la- bors during the four years in which Mr.Moffat has been pastor.Good wishes were tendered for their happiness in their new home at Ingleside, Ont.Mr.Moffat replied, giving Uheir thanks and stressing how vital and rewarding to him had been this period of service.Next, Miss Hazel Bates, for |the Ladies’ Aid, gave Miss Hawley a prettily wrapped gift, voicing the best wishes of the society on her approaching marriage and recalling her former activities in church and Sunday school.Miss Hawley, greatly surprised, expressed her appreciation.A social hour followed.Refreshments were served, and tea was poured by two the road just about follows it.Sometimes it runs along the river bottom, sometimes it climbs up on top of the sandy shores.In places, the Laurentians, several hundred feet high, squeeze the road close to the , river.Then quite suddenly, in Sherbrooke,| (|ley re[ax lhe|r grjp an(j an area of good agricultural land a 150-acre farm.He found the sixty acres at home hard ly enough to carry their eighty head of jerseys.The whole family have worked together to build a very at tractive enterprise.Hillis Connelly and his father must have some of the oldest tile drains in the coun try.They went in forty years ago — four feet deep and by hand — and those tiles are still working.Walker Kilgour, along with several oilier enterprises, i.« planning for ten acres of potatoes again this year.He finds a ready market locally, and can’t fill the orders The 4-H Club has seventj or so members this year.This is the club that did so well at Sherbrooke Winter Fair.They say they will be hack again this year to dial lenge the best from the rest of the province.There are many more items 1 could tell you.Altogther, it was a very encouraging trip, and I am looking for ward to the next visit.Holstein brings $2,000 at Lennoxville sale One ot the most successful good son of the class Extra Ro bought two milking females at male and $310 for another;
