COATICOOK.— Firemen rushing to the scene of a fire is a fairly common sight and causes little excitement, but the sight of a fire hurrying to the fire station is something else. This happened the other day when a truck hauling refuse to the town dump caught fire. The driver, hoping to save his truck, drove it, flaming load and all, to the fire station. There the firemen quickly got the blaze under control. The driver then proceeded to return to the dump with his load, the fire truck following for safety measure.En route the flames broke out again, treating the citizens to yet another strange sight, that of their town fire-fighters pursuing a fire, which refused to stand still to be put out, Coaticook firemen are paid for every occasion they are called to the scene of a blaze. One wonders if they are paid less when the fire comes to them’ Or again are they paid more if they have to chase a fire before they can put it out’ Group Wants Broadcasts Censored Here The meeting asked that a Quebec provincial body be given all necessary powers to legislate in the radio and television field, to oversee all broadcasting stations in Quebec, and to promote the use of and the Yankees spilled third-place Baltimore two games back 5-2.Killebrew, congratulated before the game by President Eisenhower, was 2-for-4 and walked and scored the winning run in the ninth on Hal N'aragon's bases-loaded single off losing reliever Murray Wall (1-3).Pete Ramos won in relief, although he gave up Jackie Jensen's homer, a tying three-run shot, in the top of the ninth.Jim Lemon of the Senators also homered.Duchess Posts 8-2 RICHMOND.— Duchess Shoe posted an 8-2 win over Brown Shoe in a Richmond Softball League game Wednesday night. The win squared the current series, Brown taking the firSt game *by a 9-3 count.Guy Houde was credited with the win as he hurled a nine-hitter.Maurice Paquette started for Br^wn but was replaced in the seventh by Bob Pariseau. They allowed seven hits.Brown took a one run load in the bottom of the first holding ; Ocean in the form of a Large fish hook. The seven Largest of the group are connected by bridges and causeways and make up what is commonly considered the mainland. The Islands are known officially as “The Bermudas” or "Somers Islands,” the former name stemming from the fact that Juan de Bermudez, a Spanish navigator, discovered them in 1503.They were uninhabited but the Government of Spain laid no claim to them. The shipwreck of the "Sea Venture” in 1609 resulted in the first permanent settlement of Bermuda three years later. It was the flagship of a supply llect sent from England to relieve the starving colony of Virginia under the command of Sir George Somers, for whom the islands were also called. Two small pinnaces, “Deliverance” and "Patience” were built out of the w reckage of the “Sea Venture” as well as of native Bermuda cedar, and the two vessels arrived in the tiny settlement, of Jamestown on 23rd May, 1610 with supplies for the needy settlers, The Bermudas, which have been under continuous British rule since 1612, are the most northerly group of coral islands in the world. The Old Towne of St.George, located on the eastern end of the Bermudas, is the oldest continuous English-speaking community in the Western Hemisphere. It was founded in 1612, eight years before the Pilgrim Fathers landed at Plymouth Rock. The Capital of Bermuda was moved from St.George to Hamilton in 1815, the latter being centrally located in the middle of the island chain on the shores of a harbour by that name. While Hamilton’s population numbers only about 2,500 it is the scene of most of the Colony’s business activity, Bermuda is the oldest British Colony and it is also the oldest self-governing colony in the Commonwealth. Its Parliament is the oldest law-making body in the Empire with the exception of England. This Parliament consists of a Governor, who is the official representative of the Queen, II members of the Legislative Council, appointed by the Crown, and 36 members of the House of Assembly who are elected by vole, four from each of Iho nine parishes. The most important industry is catering to the tourist
