day by day, and with the arrival of April first, the date on which re-\u201d ductions in pay were announced for different members of the city staff, interest is being centered in the manner in which these cuts will be received by the parties involved. The principle of the municipal authorities was to make the reductions apply only to the larger salaries, and nobody receiving under twenty-five dollars a week is supposed to be affected. All municipal employees were duly advised of the proposed cut to take place, effective April first, and in a few instances same have been met with marked dissatisfaction. At least three important resignations are practice.y definite, those of Mr.E.C.Catien, secretary-treasurer; Mr.J.T.Martel, superintendent of roads, and Mr.Leopold Fortier, assistant to Mr.W.L.McSwiggan.Mr.B.A.Dugal, chief accountant, has accepted conditions at least temporarily. His Worship Mayor William Brault is accordingly in receipt of a letter from Mr.E.C.Catien,
