and his relinquishment of his right to ascend the throne, have been cleared up.Carol is in Milan. Also there is Mme Lupesco, the blue eyed red haired daughter of a Jewish merchant of Jassy, Rumania, with whom Carol ia on friendly terms.Xyzis Lambrino.former morganatic wife of the Prince, has remarried.Carol, last night at the hotel where he is staying in Milan, gave a dinner to his entourage and Madame Lupesco, who reports say, by her charm and calm dignity provoked comment when she was seen in the public room of the hostelry, also was a guest. At her place at the table was a huge bouquet of white flowers of the same kind that she threw into his automobile, inclosing a love note which brought them together in the bonds of friendship.Prior to the sensational an- \\ nouncement of abdication reports from Milan assert, Carol and Mme ; Lupesco daily were seen motoring together but\u2019when the storm broke these pleasure rides ceased.Carol remained in seclusion, but Mme Lupesco occasionally makes her appearance in the foyer and other public parts of the hotel. To a number of written questions sent in by the correspondent of the Daily Expreees, Carol replied, also in writing, that he had determined not to make any statement with regard to his renunciation. With some asperity, he declared that the details of his doings printed in the newspapers were fundamentally wrong and that they constituted infamous propaganda against himself and his family.Carol is said to have flown into a violent rage when he was informed that his father.King Ferdinand, announced to a crown council that he had given up his rights to the throne.Bucharest advices say that both the King and Queen and the cabinet are reassuring the people that the abdication of Carol does not indicate a dynastic or political conflict, but that the people are somewhat anxious to know the reason for the King pleading so urgently with the Crown Council to accept the withdrawal of Carol. While there is much sympathy on the part of the Rumanians with King Ferdinand and Queen Marie in their present trouble, there also is a certain amount being given the romantic lovelorn prince, who is popular with the people over
