IN THE QUEEN'S BENCH-APPEAL SIDE.Thursday, May 15.Present—Hon.Mr.Justice Rolland, “ “ « Panel, “ “ “ Aylwin.Mr.Justice Rolland, stated, that owing to the unavoidable absence of the Chief Justice, the Bench being thus rendered incomplete, no judgments could be rendered this term on the several cases which had been taken en délibéré.Mr.Justice Aylwin remarked, that in the case of Halcro and Deslksdeuniers argued last term, as Mr.Justice Rolland did not tiear the argument, and the Chief Justice was now ill.the parties would be deprived ofajudgment. He was therefore entitled to a re-heating, an application for which could in this case be granted, under the law as it at present stood, by two judges ; although in ordinary cases three were necessary.Mr.Justice Panel concurred, stating, however, that the re-hearing could not take place at once. The Court then adjourned.TRADE & COMMENCE.Plantacenkt Water.—We are requested to publish the following certificate : — Montreal, 9ih May 8151.Sir,—t-ln compliance with your request, I proceed to give you my opinion of the Plamagenet Waters, alter two years experience of their use.Having been the first to predict their probable virtues, from the Chimical Analysis, I feel some satisfaction in finding my vaticinations so abundantly borne out, by the experience ol so many of the profession, and of the laity. The follow.ng are some of the cases in which these waters have been found of the greatest service :—Chronic Rheumatism, Dyspepsia, some forms of gravel, and of chronic skin decease, and inactivity of the liver.Habitual constipation is a most fruitful source of disease, whether depend, ing on sedentary habits, neglect of the calls of nature, torpor of the liver, or pregnancy ; m all these cases they are of the greatest service, inasmuch as their tendency is to restore the healthy function, whereas the host of antibilious and laxative pills, usually employed, only increase the mis • chief. The waters have proved of the greatest service in two cases of plethora, with détermina, tion to tho head. They form a useful diet drink in suitable cases of continued Fever. You ask me whether they would prove hurtful, as a refreshing summer drink.I consider them as innocent as Soda water, and such like be* verages. In conclusion, being satisfied of the superiority of tho Plantagenet Waters, I prescribe them exclusively, when I consider saline spring waters advisable.I remain, Your ob’t servt, S.C.Sewell, M.D.Lecturer on Clinical Medicine, in the university, &,c., «fee., fee.Mr.C.Larocque.Sold only in one place in Montreal, No.4.Place d’Armes.—Fresh Water twice a week at the Depot, The Auction Sale of Groceries, fee., at tho Stores of Messrs.Lemesurier, Roujh fe Co., yesterday, was attended by a very large number of town and country Merchants.Fair prices were realized, and a large quantity of goods disposed of.Messrs.Scott fe Glassford’s packages sale of Colton and Dry Goods was also well attended and went off with spirit.PORT OF OU-SBEC.ARRIVED—MXY 13.Brig Pomona, Younger, 6tb April, Leith, Dean Sc Co, genl cargo, 1 passenger SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.We are happy to learn that the damage sustained by the splendid steamer John Munn, in the collision with the ship Ottawa, off St.Francis, is about to be repaired, and that it is not nearly so great as was at first represented, having merely sufiered in her upper works, which it is expected will be repaired within a month.PORT OF MONTRESAZi.ARRIVED—MAY 14.Ship Great Britain, Wade, London, Gillespie, Mo flat l & Co, general cargo Brig Medora, Hedger, Bristol, order, do Brig Eliza Kirkbi ide, Greig, Bordeaux, E Maitland, Tyleo Sc Co, do Ship Canada, Wylie, Glasgow, Edmonstone, Allan Sc Co, general cargo IMPORT'S.Omitted in the manifest of the St Andrew—John Whyte, 94 kegs 2ck», in place of C J Cusack Omitted in the manifest of the Alice Gill—John White 10 hhds 10 bbU 10 1res, in place ofC J Cusack How to Obtain a Character.—Lord John Russell, reading in the advertisements that a character might be obtained at any time by a person sending a graphiologist a specimen of his hand, writing, immediately sat down and wrote a letter, in which he said, that “ he would leel extremely obliged if Mr.W-could possibly favor him and hi* colleagues with a character by return of post ; and the two colours harmonize throughout the rest of the building. The ærial appearance produced by the transparency above and around, which is very successfully given in the plate, is as pleasing as it is unique, and the interior of the building, even more than its exterior, is like the realization of some fairy palace. The position of the various classes of works, may, with the above view before them, bo some guide to those who intend visiting the Exhibition.Agricultural Implements occupy a section of very considerable extent on the south side. The lighter contributions in the department of civil engineering, are placed in the gallery at the extreme west, while the heavier are on the ground floor to the north.Philosophical and medical instruments occupy the west gallery, and those running along each side of the centre aisle.Models of naval architecture are disposed of in the side gallery, looking northwards. The exhibition of precious metals are placed in the front gallery, on the south of the centre aisle. The same gallery contains the collection of tapestry, lace, and embroidery.Specimens of silk are displayed in the gallery at the south, and of pottery in the gallery at the north corner of the centre aisle, where the transept intersects it.Glass is placed in the gallery along the north side of the centre aisle, and the display of animal and vegetable raw produce is on the side gallery looking southwards.Specimens of food are also exhibited in this last mentioned part of the building.Mining and metallic raw produce are disposed of on the ground-floor to the south.Hardware, the largest class of all, and with the greatest number of exhibitors, is arranged along one of the main passages running east and west on the south side of the centre aisle. The display of cotton and leather fronts the centre aisle on the north side.Furniture is arranged on both sides of it, and occupies a very considerable space.Woollen and mixed manufactures face the centre aisle on the south—Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, and the other exhibiting towns having agreed to act in concert, the space allotted to them is fitted up in the very best style. The display of printing and dyeing and of linen, is on the south side of the centre aisle. The department of machinery occupies the north side. The allocation of manufactures in paper, and in animal, vegetable, and miscellaneous substances, ifas undecided upon when we obtained the drawing. The engraving is by our talented fellow-townsman, Mr.Welch, and it will we think, be admitted, does him great credit as an artist.BIT TELEGRAPH.(Reported for the Montreal Herald.)
