limited.Sales •were made at 20s.l£d.a 20s.3d., in the early part of the week—since when the price has de-¦clinod to our quotations, the market to-day clos, ing without animation, and with a considerable quantity offering Wheat—But little of good quality in market 4s per 60 lbs, being the best price procurable for an inferior cargo.L.C.Red of good sample, is reported to have been sold at 4s per minot, but holders demand higher rates.Peas.—There have been sales at 3s.and 3s.2d per minot.Oats— Barley- Indian Corn—Sales to a small extent, at 2s.9d.per 56 lbs.Provisions.—The rates quoted for Beef are nominal, there being no sales to report. In Pork, the business of the week has not been extensive—our quotations exhibit a decline upon the lower qualities, and the market to-day is heavy, aud without much demand.Butter.—In limited demand, with trifling sales, at the rates quoted.Ashes.—Both kinds have declined since last week—altho* on Monday and Tuesday an advance was paid. They are to day quiet at our quotations, Pearls being most saleable.Oatmeal.—Sales have taken place at 20s.9d.Holders ask to-day from sea, the tonnage being greater than to the like period last season, but tho weather has been wet and boisterous, and has interfered a good deal with the shipment of Timber, and has also retarded many rafts now on their way to market.White Pine, if of good quality, sella readily ; for inferior rafts there is not the same animated de* mand as on the opening of the navigation, but the market is well sustained, especially for Timber of a fair quality.Red Pine moves offheavily, and our advices from London confirm the views expressed in our last circular.Elm has been selling very readily on arrival, and there are only a few rafts on sale at the moment. The high price last year current in England, and particularly in London, are not however realized this season, the demand for bpain having in a great measure ceased.Oak is in fair demand, especially for either very large or very small, and the market is comparatively bare.Tamarac finds purchasers on arrival, at from 7d to 8d for square, according to size and quality.Standard Staves do not sell so readily as was anticipated, and for West India the demand is very languid for White Oak, although Red are scarce and realize our quotations.Deals continue in fair demand for both Pine and Spruce, and we do not alter our quotations.Freights are dull, and may be quoted at 28s for Liverpool, and 31s for London.Comparative Statement of Arrivals and Tonnage at this Port, in the years 1850 and 1851, to the 6th June, is as follows :— Vessels.Tons.1850 .336 139,004 1851 .409 168,639 Business remains much in the same stale as at the date of our last weekly report, and as no change of any consequence has occurred, we do not repeat our Wholesale Prices Current of groceries, hardware, &c.In dry goods, business is dull.We notice a Catalogue Sale by Stewart & Kerr, at the Warehouse of T.D.Hall, Esq., on Friday—it was well attended by the trade—nearly two hundred packages were sold, principally American Domestic Cottons, which realized fair prices, considering the lateness of the season, and the late fall in price of that staple.“Atlantic’s” and “ Hadley quickest passage on record. The Briti-h Steamer Niagara hid arrived at Liverpool from Boaton.150 Hungarian refugees had embarked at Havre for New York.Brown & Shipley’s Circular says More doing in Corn Market, at last week’s prices. The meeting of the King of Prussia and the Emperors of Austria and Russia was to take place on tho 27lh instant. At the Great Exhibition yesterday, to the great astonishment of every one present, notwithstand-* the fall of the price to Is, the entire Crystal Pa~ lace was not so crowded as usual.A rush was anticipated, and the consequence was, that a comparatively small number came. The Clergy of the Diocese of Exeter, to the number of 44, have entered their formal protest against the Synod, to be held by the Bishop in June. The protest may thus be briefly summed up :—That the said Synod is opposed to the spirit ol the constitution of the Church ; that the declaration to be issued is uncalled for ; that the Synod would not bed one of free discussion ; that having no power of itself, it would be futile, and have the appearance of schism. In the French Chambers there have been very violent debates. On Friday the 23rd the Minis, ter of the interior was assailed, for the exercise of undue influence, in a recent election in the de« partment of Landes.M.Faucher pleaded that his policy had been in the main, neutral; but that he had expressed a firm opposition in the Cabinet, to the election law of the 31st of May.The defence failed.Tho Assembly would have been better pleased, if the Ministry had boldly declared that the movement had influenced electors in its favor.Government is using all its inftluence, to procure petitions to the Assembly, for a revi-sion of the constitution. All the English conservative journals in the interest of President Bonaparte, and in opposition to the Republican Constitution, say that these petitions are numerous.Liverpool Markets.—Flour—Dull at 19s a 20s for Western Canal ; 20s a
