me AArssrora wews V4 i i 2005 Calendar rmn yv w o i* i d t o O V ^ • • • ach day, we live at the pace of current events and our lives are affected by what happens in the "world. The entire planet has become so familiar to us that it is right here, nearby, before our eyes, in our hearts, in our prayer. We discover new regions, other peoples, other ways of living and thinking. But we also witness suffering and violence ravaging our world.Helplessly, we watch incomprehensible blunders that are utterly mindless of human life. Are there any signs of better times to come for our world? Are there any seeds of peace and justice germinating and growing on this earth? We try to understand and to love this universe in which we are active participants. We try to figure out the meaning of events and situations befalling us.We step back and take a broader look, we wait confidently for better days, we try to detect early signs of a brighter future and to believe that there is always a way out.The hope we nourish day by day encourages us to act.It opens our minds to God Himself, to his outlook on our world, to his promises and to his love.He sees all things. He knows all t the good that quietly surpasses the evil.In unknown and unacknowledged ways, he is at work in our world. We find this hope in Christ.Through his message and through the gift of his life, Jesus helps us to grow in trust in God.He enables us to know and savour goodness, love and forgiveness. In him we find, - not the answer to all the suffering, - but the strength to fight it.In our practical day-to-day living, we invent fraternal gestures that make our world more human and open the way to a future of peace, harmony and mutual understanding. The year 2005 begins for us as a year full of possibilities and ever-new gifts.Let us take advantage of this generous gift of time to reach out to our world as one goes to an appointed encounter that is full of promise.to hear, look, accept, discover, love.relying on the sense of goodness and justice of human beings and on the tenderness and generosity of our God.Let us be confident.Pessimism has never discovered the secrets of the stars, nor has it ever reached unexplored lands or opened new horizons to the human spirit.A universe of abundance unfolds before us.Happy New Year 2005! ¦nj.l-C ¦ Bless this New Year Bless, O Lord, this New Year, all those days ahead of us that will pass like lightning.Teach us to purify them from all vanity and impatience, that they may be filled with your own fullness.Bless, O Lord, this New Year! Bless those who work in the midst of war and violence at building a more fraternal world.Bless all the peoples of the Earth that they may live in peace.Bless, O Lord, oh yes, bless all those I love, all those I will meet this year.Bless, O Lord, all my endeavours, permeate my whole life with prayer.Bless, O Lord, this New Year, help us to live day after day in joy and serenity, tenderness and fidelity, gratitude and cheerfulness for every gift we receive from You.From the magazine Frier (Jamiary-February 2002) To cross the threshold of a new year also means to make a new start, to look with new eyes at the events and people we meet.To bless means to "say something good": to call wishfully for peace and unity in the days ahead of us and to invite Cod to come and pour His own fullness into each of our days.# Cive tlianb for CoJ’g ever-renewing life. * ¦w J JWaSSES FOR OUR SUBSCRIBERS' INTENTIONS Generalate (Canada) 2 Tsaramasay (Madagascar) Prov.House & Postulate (Malawi) 3 Postulate (Philippines) Prov.House (Haiti) 2 L'Escale Myriam, Lvl (Canada) SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY SATURDAY Sunday Readings: Year A Sunday Ordinary Time = Sun.O.T.Liturgy of the Hours -Week 1 = L.H.- week 1 1 Mary, Mother of God New Year's Day World Day of Prayer for Peace Epiphany f\ L.H.- week 2 o [1 Holy Name of Jesus 4 cn 6 Bl.André Bessette 7 8 Baptism of the Lord ^1 LH.-week3 (Ven.Pauline-Marie Jaricot) A Is* Week O.T.Ill L.H.- week 1 lu m 11 12 St.Marguerite Bourgeois 13 14 15 A 2nl1 Sun.O.T.Uk L.H.- week 2 17 i: 18 19 20 21 St.Agnes 22 S'” Sun.O.T.1 J L.H.- week 3 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 94 St.Francis de Sales 25 G Conversion of St.Paul 26 Sts.Timothy and Titus 27 St.Angela Merici 28 St.Thomas Aquinas 29 4"’ Sun.O.T.Jl 1 L.H.- week 4 31 1 St.John Bosco vWissicmo^y Sisters ofeTmmoonIote Conooption Build Iridiés mat lead to promising toiuormvs. Febmmny 2005 SUNDAY MONDAY 1 1 TUESDAY WEDNESDAY .THURSDAY 2 3 JSAaSSES FOR OUR SUBSCRIBERS' INTENTIONS Cochabamba (Bolivia) 2 Morondava (Madagascar) 2 Ville St-Laurent (Canada) 2 Prov.House (Philippines) 2 Prov.House (Hong Kong) 2 Colon (Cuba) FRIDAY SATURDAY 4 5 6 L.5,h Sun, O.T.H.-week 1 7 8 Presentation of the Lord St.Théophane Vénard Day for Consecrated Life Bl.Marie Rivier Birth of Délia Tétreault (1865) St.Agatha m 9 L.H.-week4 (Sts Martyrs of Japan) Ash Wednesday Chinese New Year St.Scholastica Our Lady of Lourdes World Day for the Sick Is' Sun.of Lent L.H.- week 1 Sts.Cyril and Methodius St.Valentine Founders of Servîtes of Mary 2nd Sun.of Lent L.H.- week 2 St.Bernadette Soubirous IWissionary Sisters of ike eJmmocwIcite Conception Chair of St.Peter 3,d Sun.of Lent L.H.- week 3 »J l,I Jill L mmmam Every Jay is new, filleJ witli countless Uessin^s.
