Titre :
Morning chronicle and commercial and shipping gazette
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

Dear Sis,—As you have treated tbe public to a lengthened editorial yesterday morning, commenting upon the conduct of the bakers and monopolisers ol Quebec, and calling upon them to come forward boldly and reply to the reasonable expostulations of the public voice why is the staff of life, at such a favourable crisis as this, dealed out to tbe commuoity at such exorbitant and nnreasonable prices?I would ask yon simply how yon can call it a favourable crisis, when we are obliged to get supplies from England and likewise from France, you should have put yourself iu a proper position to explain to tbe public why the flour is dearer in a wheat growing country than in Europe, where war and warlike preparations are going on, before calling upon bakers and flour merchants for an explanation ?Any person writing to enlighten the public should keep himself well posted up in all matters concerning which he writes about before using such language as you have, done, calling them ex tortioners and monopolisers.I call upon you to prove your assertion.And as for your threats about what you will tolerate and what you will not, we will let it pass for what its worth.1 can now inform the public that they can be accommodated in Quebec with bread to suit every man’s pocket, I will not vouch for it whether it will suit every man’s taste or not, but all grumblers can save tbe money if they think well of it.They can get the six B> loaf at eleven pence.By giving these few lines an insertion you will much oblige a Bakbr.There will be a religious service, D.V., in connection with the City Mission, on board the barque " Glas go w,” Dumlin's wharf, at 101 A.M.’ on board the 11 Lady Seymour, at Black s booms, At 3 in the afternoon ;
