Titre :
Morning chronicle and commercial and shipping gazette
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

but he Is entirely mistaken In seeking n vicarious cause of bis loss la confidence and favor, and it Is unworthy of Mr.Motley’s real merit and ability, and an in justice to the venerable Senator alluded to, to whose Influence and urgency he was originally Indebted for his nomination, to attribnto to him any share In the cause of Us removal.* Mr.Fish states among the reasons for the I Brcsssls, Jan.5 —E ght arrests have been made, in the Department of Baone and elsewhere, of suspected Itonapnrtist agents.They will probably be tried by conrt-martial.The head quarters of Fatdberbe will be at Bocelenx to-morrow and will advance towards Bocrbakls army.The combined army will then march to Nancy to cot off the base of the Germans.Most of the French captured at Nuits bava escaped aince the evacuation of Dijon, or have been delivered by Pranca-TIrenra.A reign of teiror is commencing.A battis la imminent bstween Werder and the toroea of Garibaldi.Bourbaki and tbe army of the North has been refitted, and will shortly be prepared for offensive action.Liixa, Jan.7.—Gen.Faidherbe, In an official communication, aaya bfa army did not letreat on the night after tbe 3rd, They remained in occupation of the villages they had conquered and went to their encampment only on the following mornlog.As to tbe pnrsolt of whloh the Germans beast, the only tact to support them is that on the morning of the 4:h two squadrons of cavalry charged tbe French vanguard,—-one of them was annihilated and the other wheeled off and fl.-d.Loi do*, Jan.•.—Telegram from Ye rad lies to the Jhmee to-day, aaya tbe American Oonsal has been permitted to leave Faris, and baa arrived here.Tbe Pruasten guns could easily shall the city.There era several honeee In Peril on Are.There bee apparently not been much firing to-dev.Tbe French redoubt nt Notre Dame de Cumart Is occupied by the Prussians, and its Are turned égal net tbe French.There are no appearances of a sortie.The Praeeian loeeee are still InilgniA-cast.Another correspondent, dating at Teraallles on the 7th telegrapha, that the bombardment ef the forts on the southern side of Paris is steadily continned, and that tbe Are of the French haa slackened.It la supposed that •everal guns In the forts are dismounted.Thè weather is favorable for siege operations.A correspondent at Margeooy, says that forts Rosny and Nogent have anffored severely, and that It Is believed there are no French infantry ontelde tbe fortlicationa in tbeeaat and north seat.Paria ia active, and offensive preparations are expected immediately.Lcanie, Jen.7 —Lord Derby, In a apeeohat Preston, urgeff the government to provide the volnntecra nAh field artillery.• When the steamship Cuba, with the Fenian prisoners on board, reached Q leenatown, a committee visit* d tbe priaonen and gave them an outfit of £39 each.The men seemed satis Aed with theiy treatment by the government.The people gave them a serenade before the Cuba «ailed.Their pardon ia not complete ;
