[" AND SHIPPING GAZETTE TOI* XXX.NEW BRUNSWICK.8t.Joai, March 20.—Trains from Bingcr on Saturday night were detained by a heavy snow fall : about fifteen inches on the level and several feet in drifts.No snow of any cons.qaence in 8t.John.In the Assembly to-day Mr.Tweedle, of Northumberland, gave notice of motion calling for a statement of the indebtedness of the province in every shape and form, also for all payments since the ciose of the fiscal year with particulars.Doling a discossion on the consolidated statutes Mr.Elder suggested that in controverted elections a provision be mede for appeal from the irial by Judge to the Superior Court on matters of fact ks well as of law.The Attorney-General promised to give the subject consideration.The House expected to go into Supply tomorrow.Tho Surveyor General is sick and unable to give evidence before the Crown Lands Committee to-day.Fredericton is full of political rumors.PRSVINCE OF NOVA SCOTIA.Halifax, March 20—Steamers Nova Scotian, from Baltimore, and Bermuda, from Portland, arrived to-day.The ss Sardinian, for Baltimore, and Beta, for Bermuda and Sc.Thomas ; Geo.Sbattuck, f>r St.Pietr*, also saikd to-day, but after getting outside tho harbor her machinery broke down A tug was sent tc her assistance and was towed back to port.In the Assembly, the Att rney General introduced a bill to-day to encourage the building of a railway from New Glasgow to^Strait of Canso ; a steam ferry ecros* the Strait to Cape Bitton side, thence a railway to the point on Bras d'Gr Lake.Any company undertaking the same to have a subjidy of eight thousand dollars per mile, together with the present ra'lway from Truro to New Glasgow, which tbe Dominion Government promised to band over.If no offer is received within throe mon hs from the passing of the act, then the Government is empowered to contract for tbe construction of the line to the Strait of Canso only, and allow the same rate of subsidv.A bill was also introduced to amend the Act of last session relating to the Nova Scotia and Atlantic Railway, so that the Government grant of four thousand dollars per mile shall be paid pro rata ou the uumoer of miles built, whether long or short ; the route to be adopted from Middleton to Bridgewater.THE D[STRICT COURT HOUSE.Three years have now elapsed since Quebec had the misfortune to lose its Court House by a fire, which was not only serious in the destruction of the building itself, with its many memories of brilliant forensic struggles and kindred associations of the past, but exceedingly detrimental to a great deal of legal business of a public and private nature through the lots of many valuable papers, records and documents which the calamity simultaneously entailed.Thoroughly appreciating the snddennesi and difficulty of immediately repairing the accident, the public tacitly agreed to accept the temporary accommodation which the Gov ernment of the day found itself, after much trouble and a considerable outlay of money, in a position to provide.But it never struck any one that is was in-tended to make a seemingly permanent foothold out of a mere temporary shelter.It is not therefore surprising that the public are beginning to chafe under the ii\\justice, and to very naturally enquire bow much longer it will take the Provincial Government to make up its mind, either to rebuild the ruins of the old edifice or to endow the district with a new and suitable structure more in consonance with the dignity of the capital city of the Province and the growing requirements of the section of country of which it is the Judicial centre.We must frankly admit that it is difficult to account for the vexatious dilatoriness of the authoritiesjm the matter, save upon the principlegthat any treatment is good enough for Quebec and that its people have not spirit enough to resent a slight or an injury.Such at least appears to be the opinion of the Government, for, during the past session, they did not even attempt to conceal that Quebec would have to put up for some years to come with its present discreditable make shift for a Court House, until such time as, by its use, they should have recouped themselves for the amounts they had already laid out and are ttill compelled annually to expend upon it to keep it in any thing like presentable condition.So utterly indifferent did they, and, in fact, their predecessors seem to tha tone of public opinion on the subject, that they did not deem it even necessary to resort to the hollow, but frequent legislative farce of placing an item in tbe estimates, for the purposes of reconstruction, which, oi course, they never intended to expend but to make a show, however, of being in earnest and thus to allay the existing dissatisfaction.Whether this dodge ha 0F r KKK )m(yA Ij IT I I il iS I- »nce to provld* protection for va’utbls —— * | books and papers by trns Ing them to Safe» rrtHIS INVALUABLE MEDICINE IS UN-X falling In tbe cares of all those painful and dangerous diseases to which the female ooustltotlon U subject.It moderates all excesses, and removes all obstructions, and speedy cure may be relied on.TO MARRIED LADIES, It Is peculiarly suited.It will, In a short time, bring on the monthly period with regularity] In all oases of Nervous and Spinal Affections, Pain In tbe Back, and Limbs, Heaviness, Fatigue on slight exertion, Palpitation of tbe Heart, Lowness of Spirits, Hysterics, Blok Headaches, Whites, and all the painful diseases occasioned by a disordered system, these Pills will effect a core when all other means have failed, and although a powerful remedy, do not contain Iron, calomel, antimony, or anything hortfUl to the constitution.Fall directions In tbs pamphlet around each package, which should be carefully preserved.JOB MOSES, Nrw Yoax, Bole Proprietor, $1.00 and lit cents for postage, enclosed to Northrop 4k Lym vn, Toronto, Ont, general agents for the Dominion, will ensure a bottle containing over 60 pills by return mall.Sold by all Druggists.Bold in Quebec by J.Masson à Co., W.E.Brunet.E.Giroux A Brother.J.K.Burke, R, McLeod, W.H.LaRoohe, J.J.v-idon, and all Medicine Dealers.October «, 1876. DAw ' Tars Twice.—Five to tnirty drop of Thomas’ Eclkctiuo On* will core com mon Sore Throat.It never fails la Croap.It WlH care a Cough or Cold in twenty-foor to forty-eight hoars.Ono bottle has cored Bronchitis of eight years standing ;
