the next December 10 ; tbs next the 17th ; the next the 31st ; the w«vt January 7, and so on ; that is, sail weekly for two weeks ; then skip a week, then jail two weeks again.From Portland the company will send a steamer to Glasgow once every thrth weeks, and once every two weeks to Liverpool.An arrangement has been made with the Grand Trunk Railroad to take freight from Portland, and a new elevator will be built in that city by the road.The steamers to run from Portland will be the \u201cParisian,\u201d the .\u201cPolynesian\u201d and the \u201cMoravian\u201d or \u201cSarmatian,\u201d probably the \u201cMoravian,\u201d so as to allow the \u2022\u2018Sarmatian\u201d to be laid up.From Boston the steamers *ill be the \u201cCircassian,\u201d the \u201cSardinian\u201d and the \u201cPeruvian.\u201d They will run weekly to Glasgow and fortnightly fo Liverpool, with the exceptions above noted.T\u2019his arrangement is made for the coming winter season or until the openiog of navigation at Montreal in the spring\u2014the first steamer usually sailing thence oa the first Saturday in May.What will be the arrangement for next summer is now uncertain.A large increase of business from the other side is reported by the company, and their business on tfiis side has always been as larve as they conld handle.At present the company have twenty-two steamers which cross the Atlantic, two used, on the coast to the north, aud fourteen sailing ships, which run to all parts of the world.RUSSIA.St.PETER-SBrRG, Nov.28\u2014A great stir has been created ainoug the Nihilists by the discovery that a Jew, formerly a member of the Revolutionary Committee, is now iu the pay of the Russian Police in New York and giving valuable assistance.The Jew was arrested here a year ago and turned traiter on condition of getting free pardon, that his death in a fortress should be proclaimed and attested, and that he be given 20,000 roubles to get to America.The police executed the conditions to the letter.A body was procured from an hospital mutilated and buried.The Jew at the timo of his arrest denounced sixty of his accomplices and took the police to the laboratory where six men were captured in the act of manufacturing dynamite.Two named Twiatowsky and Porahwiakoff were hanged.It is stated the commission attached to the Ministry of Justice for the reorganization of peasant representation in the Local Assemblies in the Baltic Provinces intend to institue similar revisions in the Caucasus and the Don districts and in Turkestan.THE TRIAL OF GUITEAU.TURKEY.Constantinople.November 23\u2014Mr.Wallace, the American Minister, presented to the Sultan to-day a message from President Arthur, thanking him for his expression of condolence on Garfield's death and for his congratulations on his own accession to the Presidency.Washington, Nov 28\u2014In the Guitem trial to-day.Marshal Henry caused amusement by the quaint manner in which he announced \u2022\u2014\u201cLadies aud Gentlemen\u2014Yon arc in a Court of Justice and are expected to observe the same deportment that you would in a church.\u201d Mrs.Scoville resumed the stand and described Guiteau\u2019s appearance and actions during his visit at her house in 1878.Meanwhile the crowd in the corridors pressed through the Marshal\u2019sroom and in the effort to effect an entrance to the already crowded Court-room caused confnsion necessitating the suppension of proceedings.For a few minutes there was quite a din of female voices ; several vociferated that they were being squeezed to death and begging to be allow ed to get out.With difficulty the hall and corridors were cleared and the examination of witnesses was resumed.\t_\t.Witness was convinced at the time of Guitcan's visit he was insane and should be put in an asylum.Geo.D.Burroughs, of Chicago, testified he boarded with Scoville at the timo of Gui-tcau\u2019s visit in 1878, and made up bis mind the prisouer was either a fool or crazy.He was satisfied Guiteau was unsettled in his intellect.(Guitean, who had been engrossed in the papers, here broke out with : \u201c1 desire to tell all these \u2018crank\u2019 newspaper men I appear here as my own counsel.That is my answer to all tho silly stuff they have been delivering themselves off.For some days past some of these newspaper men have gone crazy.I appear here in part os my own counsel, as I have a right to under tho law and the constitution of America.\u201d,! No effort was made to check Guiteau, and no notice of interruption was taken by the Court.How to stop the annoying interruptions has been a serious question with Judge Cox, who has consulted associates on the subject.The Court cannot well punish for contempt, as he is already in confinement.Members of the District Bar deprecate the severe strictures made upon Cox\u2019s failnre to adopt rigorous measures, but are unable to suggest a legal way out of tho embarrassment.IRISH TROUBLES.London.Nov.28\u2014A Cork correspoudent says armed men recently entered the house of a woman named Hcnlca, near Listowell, for tho purpose of shooting her because she gave information to the police.The children threw themselves upon the mother in terror and one received a shot in the leg.Tho mob left after making the mother swear under threat of death not to divulge the occurrence.Six persons have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the outrage.A Dublin correspondent says some more effective means must be fonud co restore order unless the Government is prepared to let the country drift into absolute anarchy and revolutions.Accounts received daily of outrages in various districts do not fully represent the truth.In the County Clare alone, seven houses were fired iuto last week, of which outrages there was no reports published.Resistance to the nayment of rent has not iu tho least abated out has rather increased.Dublin, November 28\u2014The houses of two Eersons who paid their rent w ilfully were urnt at Knockash last evening.Butterfield, Land League organizer for the Counties of Down and Armagh, was arrested to-day at Lewes.Armed men forcibly entered the house of farmer O\u2019Keefe, near Mill street, and fired several shots, wounding him ; unknown.The liability to banks ir Charlottetown is small and they have not been affect ed by the suspension.Up to the closing hour to-day, there being no signs of a run, the ca pital of the Bank was $145,060 and the share holders are liable to the amount of three times their stock.Holders of bank notes and depositors are considered safe.The where abouts of Cashier Brecken remains a mystery,
