smashed in a large portion of Dobel''s wharf, at Hochelisa, while the vessel herself has sustained considerable injury to her bow.She left port this morning at 6 o'clock in charge of Pilot Beaudet, with 53,000 bushels of grain, 5,000 tous of miscellaneous cargo, 350 lead of cattle, 1,000 sheep and 17 horses. After leaving her berth, the tugs escorted her past Ile Ronde, and all went well until nearing the St.Lawrence Sugar Refinery, when she refused to answer her belta, and the current catching ner the vessel went head into the wharf.Fortunately, the wharf being of a spongy nature, gave way under the collision of such a huge boat, or else the affair would have been far more serious. The wharf, for about 15 fect, was cut into matchwood. The vessel was eventually turned around and brought {to her regular berth, where she was examined by (he Port Warden Diver O'Brien went down and examined the bow, but was unable to inake a minute examination, owing to the dirty condition of the river. He, iw ever.found that on the starboard side there was a rip of about three feet and a half, while on the port side of the bow, one of the plates was badly bent.‘The whole of the live stock was immediately landed into barges, and Superintendent Scanlan had a large force of men discharging ihe cargo. The cargo in the forward hold was discharged first, so as to tip her, in order that a that seeing the vessel was not inclined to keep the channel, he jut the helm hard to port.but she did not respond.with the result that she went clean into the wharf.— pe ELECTRIC CAR ACCIDENT IN ‘et me just speak of the representation >f the province here, and in order that ! may be thoroughly understood, let me give you a few figures.I take the figures from the last Dominion ænsus. We have in the Province of Juebec—as nearly ax I can figure it— thout 120,000 or 130,000 English- ‘n the same province about 140,000 to 50,000 Protestants. Now what 1s he representation in the House of Commons?‘Taken from the iast “louse.it shows 12 Protestants and 3 English-speaking Catholics. That is with 120,000 against 140,000, or 13.- 00 against 150,000, we have 3 repre the name of com- non sense, in the name of that good feeling which has always existed be- ween the Catholics and Protestants of this country, we ask that at any ate we be allowed that representa- don members of Parliament accepting positions, and also the way contracts were given without calling for tenders. The emergency rations matter was also referred to, and ths speaker stated that whatever opinion the people had with respect to the sending of the contingent, Iristmen in particular would denounce the rascally conduct of thoss responsible for send'ng such vile stuif do the uol- diers stated that what he had to sav at the meeting in Scott street was that Mr.Dotell being anxjovg to have the word ‘'Honorable” attached to his name, had bolted trom the Conservative site.In sup- rt of this statement he had it from a Liberal that when Mr.Dobell was decid to Parliament he was asked to drive with Nir Wilfrid Laurier through St.Roch's, but the former replied that he would not travel with such a gant. Moreover, we would have the fast Atlantic steamers now if Mr.Dobell had not heen infatuated with the bot tle-noee, whaleback steamers.Mr.Carbray then moved a vote of thanks be That.to Retain hls Health and.Digestion., There are thousands of people in this world who eat no meat from où year's end to another, and certain savage tribes in Africa and Polynasia are almost exclusively meat eaters: hut while there are thousands of these, there are millions who live upon a mixed diet of meat, vegetables and grains and if numbers is à citerion it would seem that a mixed diet is the best fur the human family, The fact Hat you will find many vegetarians who appear healthy and vigorous and meat eaters equally xc, and any number of robust specimens who cat both meat and vegetables and anything else that comes their way, all’ goes to show that the old saw is the true one, that every man must be a law to himself as Lo what he shall eat and drink.: To repair Lhe waste of tissue in'licain workers as weil as 10 replace the mens- cle and sirow of tbe laborer, can only be done througa the process of diges tion.Every nerve, muscle, sinew; every drop of blood is extracted from the food we eat and digest. In these days of hustle and worry, and artificial habits of life, scarcely one person in a thousand can lay claim 10 a perfect digestion ; dyspepsia in a national affiction and Stuart's Dys persia Tablets a national blessing. Most cases of poor digestion are caused bv failure of the stomach to secrete sufficient gastric juice, or too little Hydrochloric acid and Jack of peptones and all of these important es sentials to perfect digestion are found in Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets in convenient palatable form. One or two of these tablets taken after meals insure perfect digestion and assimilation of the food.Cathartic pills and laxative medicines have no affect whatever in dI- ¥ | resting food and 10 call such remedies a cure for dvupepsia is far fetched and absurd.Stuart's Dyspepsia Tablets contain pepsin free from animal matter, diastase and other digestives, and not only dieest all wholesome food but tend to increase the flow of gastric juices and by diving the weak stomach a much needed rest bring about a healthy condition of the digestive organs and a normal appetite.Nervous, thin blooded.run-down peo ple should bear in mind, that drugs and stimulants cannot furnish good blood, strong muscles aud steady nerves: tliese come only from whole some food, thoroughly dirested; a fiftv cent box of Stuart's Tublels taken after meals for a few weeks will do von more real good than drugs, stmulants and dieting combined.Stuarl's Dyspepsia Tablets is probably the safest, most povnlar and mow succesful divestive on the market and sold by is the result of the falling of the balcony Saturday morning in the rear of Pelion's Chien d'Or Hotel. The accident happened just as the soldiers were marching up Mountain Hill on the way from the Qu&n's wharf, where they had just landed. The balcony, which overlooks the hill just opposite Fronte nac Park, was scized upon as a coign of vantage by a number of the Chathe staff of the Chien d'Or, their friends.Altogether there were about 9 on the frail gallery when the soldiers came in sight. The men all crowded to the outer rail to see the parade.Evidently the strain was too much and just as the contingent was opposite, the timbers began to creak and bend. One of the men, more quick-witted than the rest, suddenly turned and seized the window sill, just as the supports of the balcony gave away.He was immediately taken in through the window. When the first crack of the timbers announced the danger, there was a clusely packed crowd standjmg on the sidewalk unler- neath. All got away in lime except Mrs.Coulombe and Miss McCausland who were caught by the wreck and hurled to the sidewalk.JL was the eastern end of the gallery that first gave way.Had both sides broken at the same time the results to the people below must have been much more se rious.Of the men who weut down with the wreck Adams is the most sc riously wounded, and it was stated by the authorities at the Jeffrey
