Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

2.The efe:t of the same force upon the currents by which icebergs, flucs, etr,, are all carried through -the Polar Hasin, and thence through the channel hetween Greenland and the Spitzberg.3 The temperatkre, density and chemical constitien(s at various depths, of the arctic waters and those flowing in the polar basin, for the completo study of polar currents; 4.The direction and effect of the canted, of the .Gulf Stream, which, it is reaches the arctic sea: 8.The dirstion and sjronpth I SAS fe ee pe CASTORIA For Infants and Children.EZ ll Se served and registered of the pendulum at te North Pole, compared with the movements of the same to the equinoctial line, so as to cstablish the exact ratio between the two diameters of the carth: 4.Tho movement of the tides; K.The barometric and thermomy: ric observations which would lead to the knowledge of tle general Jdimatology of \u201cthat part of the world, and als) the conditions of the animal life under such latitudes; 9.The action of the electrical energy at the very summit of the word in such intensely cold regions, as it is a well known fact that the electricity is far more active and elective in culd climatzs than in tronical countries: 14.The still unaccounted for phenomenon of the aurora borealis; 11.The influence and the more or Jess extended radiation of all such phe NOMEN nS; 12.The relative density of the salt water at the North Pale and of tro soft water of the Siberian rivers flowing therein, the geography,.geology, xeodaesia, arography, fauna and flora of the arctic regions, and to what extent they could be practically utilised.At a national point of view, this (a- nada of ours has nothing to Inse, on the contrary, it can only be benefited in taking possession, by right of dis covery, and of itz being close to them of all the lands and seas of the Polar region.Reaching as it does the 14th meridian, or that of Alaska, such a pacific conquest, which would entail no mors expense than what is required for the contemplated expedition, would place the Dominion in a position to carr the Meridian further north, that is.as far as the Pole, thes adding to ile territory an arca of more than a thousand miles from north to south, and of about 1750 miles from cest to west, in all nne million and three quar ters of square miles.That thik\u2019 vast territory wouid t : more or less opened to mining, agricultural and commercial enterprisa, is not.of very great importance for the moment; the main point which has to being true to its national interests, should territory to become the property of other nations who, at this very moment, are taking sicps towards taking poaszmion of the same, with a view to increase their political and territorial influence, when the only thing our country has to do, is to assisl in con- {ributing as largely as posible to the expenm of the proposed expedition under the command of one of its sons, who, at any cost.is ready to start and take possession of the polar kingdom, in its naine.H is with the fecling of the deepest satinfaction, an account of the above mentioned rmasons, that the Geographi ral Society: of Gueher in witnessing the lively intcrest which js being centered upon a schame that was inaugurated under their auspicts, and upon the ence relie and generoug efforiz which fore being made by ils chicf promoter.In the Dominion of Canada, in Newfoundland, the proposed expedition hos been most favorably received, and strongly countenanocd by influential le.;
