place two miles west of Drummond.There the trait was sivnalled to xtop and the thgèneer slowed up.While doing so aw a man creeping towards him aver the tender.The man, who was armed, enlled to O'Neil to stop the train instantly.| The enginesr took in the situation at once and pulling open the throttle tried to start the train ot full speed.The robber di- vind his purpose and fired at him.The shat
