Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

private person of even a two cent stamp, renders him liable to punishment. It would be surely logical to retain this law on the Statute Book, and to elimi- pate the otber since they both depead on the same principle.THE AMEER IN INDIA The tour of India which the Ameer ol Afghanistan is now making is both unique and historic, It is really the first tour of India ever made by an Ameer nince the Indian administration was assumed by the British Government; for though two former Ameers visited Inda they did little more then crges the border.Shere AK, son of Dost Mohammed, was the fiat of these two, and be went only as far as Umballa, just across the frontier, to spend a day or two with Viceroy Lord\u2019 Mayo. The decond visit was made by Ameer Abdurrahman, who ia 1885 visited Viceroy Lord Dufferin at Rawal-Piadi, which is also just across the border, and his stay was likewise duced politica to a mere bunt for the spoils. There is truth im Mr.Bourassa's claim. But who is ible for this painful situation?A lew yeahs ago a public man was wd io be both coasdsterit sud wall It was charged against Sir John Nac Sonal that in the National Policy campaign be had stated that a re vision of the tariff was all that he intended, and that afterwards he ao- tually increased the duties. This was all to be an inexcusable breach of faith of which no public man should be fui statement of Sir John was not really inconsistent with his subsecuent action. But the criticism to whlch br was subjected shows that at that time the national conscience was tender.A public man was expected to be strictly honest in h as well es in Aotion.To-day it is different.A political loader may gu to the country promising low taxes, reduod expenditure, tres trade, and honorable adminiswation. He may do absolutely
