Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

bas oil the papers tp prove her marriage, and alto to prove that the man she married was Beresford.DESERTED AFTER TWO WEEKS.The story goes back to a iod over twenty years ago, when Beresford first came to thic country. In St.Catharines and Ottawa and other | places be cut a gay dash in society | under au ossumed name. She was a pretty lade in her teens, end ford found her charming. They were | married by a Methodist minister, and for two weeks their life was apparently a happy cde.But it is said.that Beresford soon tired of his toy.Ha disappeared utter- The git] wife was left to make her living as best she could. She took ja sewing and apperently sucoseded fairly lt in this ne ne, ior she finally owned -a little property which, thoy not large, was a tribute to her industry.ANOTHER LOVER CAME.The years went by, and the girl's early romance beoame more and more of a dream.Other interests dame into ! her life, and a new love. For years she: felt that she dare not , but as time want on she sought advice. She went to her pastor, a Baptist minister, the pastor, also, of the young man her choiee. The case was a somewhat puzzlin one.Beresford had been gone for hall a dozen years.A man who is absent for seven years under certain circumstances may be legally supposed dead. The minister proceeded to eo in quiries. For two years be searched for the missing man, finding traces of him all over the world. But the man himself he never found. He even em- Ployed Baptist misvibnaries in India to him in that ler land, but it was in vain. When Beresford hod been gone cight years, the minister advised ¥ the two members of his flock that ve had ter marry. There was the possibility of the titled foreigner’s return, but it seemed slim.A letter to his brother, the Admiral, had been unanswered. No one seemed to know of his whereabouts.Possibly he was dead.SO THEY WERE MARRIED.As a matter of fact, of course, Beresford died only last December, when he was killed in o railway wreck. That fact, however, does not in the least affect the Ontario woman's title. She in still his widow for all legal She is also the wife of a well-to-do railway man, for the two took their pestor's advice.were not married by him, for he missed a train and failed to arrive.Again a Methodist minister tied the knot and the couple have lived happily ever since. There was no child irom the first marriage. And now comes the question as to whether or not the Ontario woman will prees her claim as heir to the estate of the man whe married her. There stems to be ne doubt that she.prove the marriage, and she elaims to to have papers which conclusively identify her husband. In fact he ol her who r marriage. The matter is rill in doubt, but a decision must be reached shortly, as the estats is being distributed.la a town not a great distance from Toronto a wo man is doing some very hard thinking and the pastor who ro long as sisted her in tracing her husband fs also considering the problem which confronts her.SPEED OF FISHES, -— Tarpon Sharks and Mackerel Are the Swiftest of Swimmers, When scientists’ desire to nut how fast a certain bira flies, it is necessery only to set up poles and hote by stop watches the time the Tequires to croes the interval. The speed of firhes is more difficult to ascertain.Nev , as the Saturday Evening Post explains, estimates pa made sho that the mac!
