[" The Weather.Lower St.Lawrence apd Gull, \u2014 Srong winds ; olesring.A tt ¥ The Quebec Chronicle.|=2==-| ESTABLISHED.1104.QUEBEC, THURSDAY, JUNE Z5, 1908 EX-PRESIDENT CLEVELAND DIED SOMEWHAT SUDDENLY Though He Had Been in Poor Health for Last Two Years, His Condition Seemed to be Improvinga- \u2018 i \u2019 \u2018 / HEART TROUBLE, WITH COMPLICATIONS Princeton, N.J.June 24 \u2014 Grover childreu were at home.The children Cleveland, twice President of the ! were at the Cleveland summer home United States, died at 8.40 o'clock this morning at hix home, .\u2018Westland,\u201d in this collegs town.where he had lived since his retirement as the nation\u2019s chief executive, almost twelve years a en oath came, which was sudden, | thers were in the death chamber on the second floor of the Cleveland residence, Mrs.Cleveland, Dr.Jos.D.Bryant, of New York, Mr.Ceveland's family phyeician, and personal friend, Dr.Geo.Lockwood, also of New York, and Dr.Jno.M.Carnochan, of Prineston.An official statement given out and signed by the physic cians gave heart trouble, superinduced by stomach and kidney ailments of long standing, ar the cause of death.While Mr.Cleveland had been in health for the last two years and had lost a hundred pounds in\u2018 weight.his death came unexpectedly.Some three weeks ago he was throught home irom Lakewood, where his condition for a time was such that the hotel at which he was staying was | t open after its lar season be- ce he vas ton TT da be moved.But when Mr.Cleveland was brought back to Princeton he showed signs of - improvement and gnined five pounds in weight.Although confined to his room con tinuously after his return to Prine tion, it was not until yesterday that Nr.Cleveland's condition aroused uneasiness nn the part of Mrs.Cleveland.Undoubtedly affected hy the heat, Mr.Cleveland showed signs of failure and Mrs.Cleveland telephoned to Dr.Brant.who came over from New .Vork on the train arriving here at 4.24 p.m.Dr.Lockwood followed Dr.Bryant from New'York, and when they reached here Dr.Camochan.who had been Mr.Cleveland's Ineal phyei- cian since the former President came ta Prineston, was aisn ~elled in.Durtg the evening Mr.(\u2018leveland seemed to rally and Mrs.Cleveland, who always has been optimistic about her husband's health, lelt aseured that it was merely another of the many _ attacks Mr.Cleveland had suffered, and she informed those who inquired that Mr.Cleveland's condition was uot serious.Nr.Cleveland became worse during the night and Mrs.Cleveland was called to the bedside of her husband.The distinguished patient sank into unconsciousness from which he recovered at times only to suffer 2 re lapse.This continued throughout tha night and early morning.time he berame unconsrious was about two hours before he died.Drath won ;
