Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

note concerning the calin of the United States for an indemnity to the owners of the American ship William ®.Frye, sunk by the Prinz Eitet Friedrich. The American communication takes note of the fact that Germany accepts liability for the act under the treaty of 1828 between the United States and Prussia, but declines the suggestion that a German prize court pass on the legality of the capture and destruction, under the Declaration of London, the standing oi the claimants and the amount of indemnity.Pointing out that the United States early in the present war announced that it would not be of Ald.Welling, of this City, who was killed in action while taking part in the recent gallant fighting of the Canadian troops. The lad, who was only twenty years of age, was one of the youngest Canadians who enlisted and while employed in the Editorial Department of the Toronto Evening Telegram he was a member of the Queen's Own Rifies.A pathetic story is related of the circumstances under which the lad enlisted to go to the front. He was at work at the Telegram office, as usual, when he was approached by the recruiting sergeant and asked i he would enlist for overseas service.“1 am ready, Sir.” the Jad replied, “shall T go with you now.” When his mother learned of his determination to go to the front she remonstrated that he was too young.but he answered that if he did not go it would be said that he was a tin soldier, During the training of the Canadian troops at Valcartier the lad was met by his uncle, Ald.Walling.who like the boy's mother felt that he was Lu young and thought he would be refused, but he sailed with the Canadian and despite his frail stature he was stout of heart and ‘aithstond the gruelling test of Salisbury Plains and subsequently crossed to France from where he wrote a most interesting letter to Ald.Walling describing the fighting at the battle of Neuve Chapelle.Chronicle readers will remember this letter as it was published in these columns several weeks ago. That was the last that Ald, Walling heard irom his nephew until the news reached him yesterday that the lad had been killed in action.OFFICIAL PROGRAM
