Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

necessary for victory.Next, having now completed our own supplies, we can set to work to arm Russia with a will.We can fit out the armies for 1917 and 1918, which must in the end crush the most frantic efforts of the Central powers, and, as we can last so long, or longer if necessary, we can be satisfied with nothing but the complete satisfaction of our demands.“The Allies will end the war as such formidable military powers and so superabundanily supplied with veterans and material that, failing some gross negligence on the part of our governments during the peace parleys,.Germany bush fires which raged in the north country on Tuesday.The danger of further destruction is now practically over, as heavy rains this afternoon bave had the effect of extinguishing practically all of the fires smouldering in the district.Apart from the loss of life, the property loss in Tuesday's fire was very heavy.The fire swept over two or three of the oldest settled townships of the districts— Harley, Hudion and Diamond—burning up practically everything in its path.Mrs.Arthur McKenzie and her -six children, their ages ranging from three months to ter: years, took refuge in an old root house, but the fire burned the timbers supporting the earth covering ihe roof, which subsequently fell in upon them.The Lady Minto Hespital was in great danger for a time, and many women and children left the town.The Nipissing Central Railway cars were held in waiting for the worst.About sixty farmers have lost both huildings and crop.and they with their families are homeless, At the Casey-Cobalt mine, a wagon with women and children started for New Liskeard, but was headed by the flames until an open field was reached, where all were obliged to lie down on their faces under a shelter of wet blankets and remain in that position for over an hour.Some of the dead are: Robert Woodall, farmer, of Casey township; Mrs.Woodall, of Casey township; Miss Wellwood, nurse, of official statements issued dy Paris and London.Maurepas has fallen to the French who have pushed forward more than two hundred yards beyond that town on a front of a mile and a quarter.The British on their side report an advance of 300 yards south of Thiepval and the capture af many prisomers.The capture of Maurepas leaves Clery almost completely surrounded and also brings the French directly in front of the important raiiroad town of Combles.Thiejval is in alm most the same position as Clery and the Ailied front ,as described by Paris and London, now resembles the teeth of a great saw between which the Germans are tenaciously holding Press despatches from the Somme front indicate that the French are preparing for an extension of their offensive for a distance of thirty miles south of the present battle line.They are reported to have opened a tremendous cannonading from Hstress to Lasigny and the bombardment is said to have reached an unprecedented intensity during the last two Bonds $2,843,000, (From Breen & Gourdeau) New York, 2¢—Irregularity again today characterized the fluctuations nf quotations in the stock market.Initial transactions were at a generally higher level over the closing prices of yesterday, but shortly afterward the heavy selling movement, which was strongly in evidence during the late trading yesterday was again resumed.The market therafter held to a moderately limited trading area, each decline being followed by an equally sharp recovery.The volume of business handled during the day showed a further contraction, and it was apparent that hesitancy upon the part of many was being furthered on account of the still indefinite outcome indicated in the railway labor situation.Despite this backing and Alling process, the undertone to the market is considered good with the result that the trend, if anything, is upward.Alhough the outcome of the conferences between the railroad and their employes is doubtful, nevertheless, the action of the market suggests confidence in a satisfactory scttlement being reached.The market still is a trading one.The copper stocks, especially Inspiration, developed even still greater activity and strength than seen for sometime.We continue to look for price movements to swing within moderate trading limits for the present, in which we favor a long side on recessions.Sales, stocks, 762,207;
