Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

[Traduction]
Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

Powets had dared the purposes of this war for a single fortnight, it never would have happened.and if.as should he, they were forced to discuss it for a year.the war would have been inconceivable, “So 1 feel that this war is, as has heen said more than once today, intimately related with the university spirit. The university spirit is intolerant of all the things that put the human mind under restraint. It is intolerant of everything that seeks to retard the advancement of ideals, the acceptance of the truth, the purification of life. And every university man can ally himself with the forces of the present time with the feeling that now at last the spirit of truth.the spirit to which universities have devoted themselves.has prevailed and is triumphant.“If there is one point of pride that I venture to entertain.it is that it has been my private privilege in some measure to interpret the university spirit in the public life of a great nation, and Ÿ feel that in honaring me today in this unusvel and conspleuous manner you have first of all honored the people whom I represent. The spirit that 1 try to empress 1 know to be their spirit, and In proportion as 1 serve them T believe that Ÿ advance the rause of freedom.“1.ar hefore.wish to thank you, Sir, from the bottom of my heart for à distinction which has in a singular way crowned my academic career.” MORE ATROCITIES ; BY BOLSHEVIK.Copenhagen, December 29—In addition to the execution of Bolsheviki officials of 3 number of alleged coun- ter-revolutionaries at Prkov, 140 miles south-west of Petrograd, it |s reported that the Bolshevik have shot a number of leading inhabitants in the Ostrov district, which lies about 36 miles to tha sansh of Pekov.AND (TALIAN CASUALTY LISTS LATTER LOST HALF MILLION, PORMER THREE MILLION MEN.Paris, Decembe.81—(By The Associated Press)—Five hundred thousand Italians lost their lives in the war.Of this number 300000 were killed in action. This statement was made to the correspondent today by Salvatore Barzilai, former member of the Ttal- M.H, PIPER QUEBEC, MONDAY, DECE MBER 23, 1918, WITH TOILS CLOSING IN ACCUSED WIPE MURDERER CHEATED GALLOWS.Muskegon, Mich, Dee.31—Within a foot of a guard who had been stationed outside his cell, to thwart any attempt at suicide, Milo H.Piper, local insurance broker, charged with HANGED'A WAR SERVICE HIMSELF I CELL] CHATTY FOR ALL CANADIANS 1 CABINET PASSES ORDER IN i PLACE OF POST DISCHARGE PAY.Ottawa, Ont, Dec.#2—An Order- tonight.Offic'als of the jail for à ‘ payment of u ‘war service gratuity” the murder of Miss Fried: \\Veichman, © in-Council was Saturday passed by of Chicago, hanged h'mself in his cell , the Cabinet Council authorizing the time denied that Piper had ended his ) life, but after an examination, Dr.| to be payable to the naval and land Samuel A.Jackson, County Physician, | forces of Canada, in place uf post dis- anounced the accused man was dead ‘charge pay.Under th's enactment] Piper, it is said, removed his collar, : the amount to be paid is graduated!
