Titre :
The Quebec chronicle
La ligne éditoriale du journal est définie comme suit : « [.] in the management of The Morning Chronicle we shall, therefore, begin by simply declaring, that, as we glory in our connexion with the British Empire, it will be our undeviating aim and unremitting endeavour, to create and foster a cordial attachment to those time-honoured institutions which have made her so illustrious in the annals of the world ». (May 18, 1847, p. 2)

Voici les différents titres que le Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph a connus depuis ses débuts : Disponibles en ligne : The Morning Chronicle (Jan. 1847 - Nov. 1850) The Morning Chronicle and Commercial and Shipping, 1850-1888 The Morning Chronicle (Feb. 1888 - May 1888) The Quebec Morning Chronicle, 1888-1898 The Quebec Chronicle, 1898-1924 Non disponible en ligne : The Chronicle Telegraph (1925-1934) The Québec Chronicle-Telegraph (1934 à ce jour)

of the Temiscaming and Northern Ontario railroad and east and west of Cochrane, no great conflagration has developed as yet, due solsly to the fact that there has been no wind to apsak of.All reports from the north agree that if a wind springs up before rain comes to ex tinguish the flames no section of the settled part of the North country will be free from the menacs of fire out of control. The Cobalt correspondent wires that all the towns surrounded by bush are greatly alarmed and fear, is expressed that if rain does not come within 48 hours the timbered and wooded districts where fires are already spreading will fall a prey to the flames. It is reported that hundreds of thousands of cords of pulp wood along the line of the T.& N.OR.R.have been consumed, Confirmation of the loss of two lives in the bush fire is still lacking. It i= said that twenty men left their camp for Holland when the fire be came threatening and that only eighteen had arrived. One of the party claims to have seen the two men.seek safety to s dugout.A great number of homes of settlers have been destroyed, particularly those that were surrounded by ‘old slash.Quite a few rangers are kept in New Ontario by the Ontario Government and precautions have been taken to guard the towns and the timber belts but experience shows that even a large force is helpless when the flames beguin to advance before a stiff wind.‘The head office of the T.& N.OR.R.at North Bay sent out mema- zes to all points along their line today asking for facts about the bush | fires and the returns reveal fires on all sides, but that instead of 50,000 cords of pulpwood having been purned.the totat ioss In the whole district from Hearst to the Quebec boundary and South to Matheson Is only 4,000 cords.’ He "adds that
