of St.Patrick\u2019s.TIIE ROUTE OF THE PROCESSION.The route followed hy the procession was along St.Aline, Du Fort and Ruade streets, then hy Fabrique, St.John ami St.Stanislas to St.Patrick's presbytery.All along the route the streets were lined by thousands of spectators.Opposite St.Patrick's presbytery the processionists paused to salute the Rev Fathers of Ht, Patrick's Church, opening their ranks OH the approach of His Eminence Cardinal Taschereau to pertwit him to pass through.The Tara Minstrels sang in front of the presbytery \u201cThe harp that once thro Tara's Halls.\u201d in Tailloti occupied seats with Mr Owen Murphy, M.P.P.Cardinal Taschereau was accompanied by Mgr.Paquet.Rev.Father Garneau, of the Seminary, was the celebrant of the mass and w'as assisted by Rev.Mr.Faillard as deacon and Rev.Mr.Reid as sub-tleacon.Father Walters, of the Seminary, acted as master of ceremonies.Among the many priests seated within the sanctuary rails were the following :\u2014Father Drolet, ex-parish 'priest of Sillery, Father Faffard, Father Audette, Chaplain of Sillery Convent, Father O\u2019Reilly, Father O'Leary, Seminary, Father Eustache Maguire, Chaplain of the Bellevue Convent, ami the Rev.Chaplain of the Ursuline Convent and others whose names we were unable to ascertain.Within the rails were seated eighteen Irish students of theology from the Seminary, ami Christian Brothers of the St.Patrick\u2019s School Within the rails of St, Joseph's altar were seated a number of Christian Brothers, among th?« Brother Stephen, Director of the Commercial Academy, and Brother Maurice Outside the rails were seated the pupils of the St.Patrick\u2019s Brothers School, who at the conclusion of the service, under the leadership of Brother Oswald, Director of the school,\u2019sang \u201cGod Save Ireland.\u201d In the centre of the Church were seated the Rev.Sisters of Charity in charge of the St.Bridget Asylum, having with them in attendance the orphan Imys and girls sheltered in that noble institution of charity.THE SERMON.The sermon of the day was preached by the Rev.Father Sheehan, C.SS.R., from Boston, one of the ablest Fathers attached to the Order of Redcmptorists, who preached a very able ami eloquent panegyric on Ireland's patron saint.The following is a synopsis ot the sermon.The reverend gentleman saiil : \u201cWhat means this strange ecstasy of joy, miiigle«l with music that ushers in this day?Why so many banners and badges of green pressed to the hearts of so many individuals ?Why do men of every age and condition of life, «if every crce«l and nationality swell with inspiration of good will and greetings ?It is because to-day Irishmen the world over arc met to honor the naqic of an immortal hero and Apostle, St.Patrick, who in the success attending his labor is surpassed by none, save the twelve Apostles.It is needless to dwell upon the early life of St.Patrick.Every Catholic knows of the manner in which he was torn from the loving embrace of a happy home, borne to a foreign laud amt there subjected to the cruel treatment of his hard oppressors.The mysterious manner in which he was invited to return and lal>or for the people of Ireland, is also a history known to all.He heard the silent call ami crossc«l the ocean.That was the greatest «lay Ireland has e.cr witnessed.\u201d The preacher then in glowing ter.ns ilepicted the life work of Saint Patrick, moving t
