On the other side of the street, but nearer the hotel, is a modern residence bearing an inscription to the effect that it occupies the site of the humble dwelling in which General Montgomery’s body was laid out after death.He was killed beneath the Citadel of Quebec while storming the City with Arnold in the year 1775.IN ST.RocHs.—In this quarter will be found some very extensive shoe factories and tanneries, as well as some of the finest stores in the City.St.Rochs in olden times also contained Bigot’s Palace.The ruins of a portion of the building has been transformed into ale and porter vaults, and are still to be seen in rear of Boswell’s Brewery, When tenanted by the infamous French Intendant, the place was employed for (23) PR H PORTE y A REVUE } À ;
