firstly, those which are only skin deep (which are not now to be considered); secondly, those which are caused by a bad state of the blood, and which attack various parts of the body in different ways.Skin disease shows itself in the HEAD, sometimes in the form of Dandruff, which no amount of brushing and combing will get rid of, and sometimes in the form of Sealy Eruptions. In the NECK, by an enlargement of the glands (commonly called Glandular Swellings), which, if unchecked, become very unsightly wounds. In the ARMPITS, and the inside of the ELBOWS, by an inflamed Roughness of the Skin, which is very painful when washed.in the HANDS, by deep Cracks or Fissures, which if healed for a few days, speedily open again, or by horny-looking patches.Inthe LEGS, by Hard, Shiny and Inflamed Swellings, or by wounds more or less deep. And on the BODY, in Red Scaly Patches, which as often as rubbed off, forin again, or in the discharge of a thin watery fluid of a very disagreeable nature. In all these cases the treatment must be twofold. An Ointment is required to relieve Itching, and Medicine must be taken io change the state of the Blood, andrender it pure. Both these requirements are supplied bv Dr.Roberts’ Celebrated Medicines The OINTMENT called “THE POOR MAN'S FRIEND." —ANDTHE— ALTERATIVE PILLS, Called ** Pilulre Antiscrophulse.” These two Medicines have now stood the test of 100 years’ trial, having been introduced to the public in the latier part of the last century. They may be obtained of all Chemists, or of the Proprietors, BEACH & BARNICOTYT, BRIDPORT, DORSET Price ls 1id, 2s 9d, 11s and 22s each, CASTOR FLUID (Registered) A delightfully refreshing preparation for the hair.Should used daily.Keeps the scalp healthy, prevents dandruff, promotes the growth.A perfect hair dressing for the amlly.25¢ per bottle, HENRY GRAY, Chemist, 141 St.Lawrence Maln Street.FOR SALE, Fine Steam Tug 00 feet long, 12 feet beam 14 by 14 vertical engine.fight draught Splendid condition.Sold because owners have finished work for whick she was bought.€an be seen at Lachine Locks, where all communications should be addressed.Jan, 12° ne, France, 17110 .mnie Ax DOMINION BRIDCE CO Mora MONTREAL, TUESDAY, - - I a Es OUT NOVEMBER 1, 1887.RAILWAYS.TRAINS LEAVE MUONTREAT at ;— 8 10 A.M.—t !! QUEBEC, Oct.31.—The arrangements at tho swearing in of the L.eut.-Governor by Mr.Black Rod have caused no end ofarow In socialeireles. The Governor and local Cabinet are in no wav to blame for the gross insult given to many of the leadinz citizens of the place. The Mayor, F.Langelier, M.P., many Jegislative Counclliors, M.P.P.'s, and thelr wives, though officially invited to the ceremony on presenting themselves found that no special seats had been set apart for them.in fact, it is stated that farvoritesof th : À.D.C.und Black Rod held all the points ot vantage, in preferenee to those Who by thetr effivial positions were most entitled to hem.Mi.Black Rod throws all the blume oi the arrang ments on Mr.McGee, clerk of the Privy Council, Ottawa, anyway the Governor and the Premier are grea.ly annoyed ut the unpleasantness, and an explanation is in order from Mr.Black Rod.Major-(ieneral Cherry, late of the Madras Cavairy, is in town on nis way to England after & six months tour With this distin zuished Britisli general, who saw hard fighting in the last two Afghan campaigns, about the matter of su plying horses from the ranches tor the British army, 4 he remarked that the in watching the mares and having a change of stallions, then good, strong horses for all cavalry purposes can be produced which would soon enrichi the ranche sharchiolders.Sir Hector Laugevin, It is led Many to believe, before accepting the office of Lie.t-Gov- ernor, he stipulated with Sir John that,on bis term being completed, he quietly returns to the bench. But, then, Sir John may be out of pushing his claims with zeal, and fecls cocksure of the post, %0 does Hon.Mr.Blanchet, who has Sir colors promise, it is said. Then Mr.Bel- leau, ex M.P.P.for Levis, says he is the man for Galway, as he has the promise of the Lieut.-Governor.In fact, at the moment it is amusiug to see the amount of buttonholing of politicians for their influence by the friends of the rival candidates.FROM THE Rainville against Mr.Hugh Grgham, proprietor of the Siar newspaper for libel, was resumed yesterday in the Police office, before Police Magistrate Desnoyers.Mr.St.Pierre apy-eared ior the prosecution, and Mr.Guerin for the def nce.The evidence of Ald.Rainville was continued, and under cro-:s-examination he stated that the charge which Mr.Graham made asa'nst was still pending before the Civic Investigation Com:nittec. He could not say exactly at what time the St.Lawrence Sugar Refining Company had tivst applied for a right of putting a pipe through one of the streeis of the city to connect with the canal. However, when the question came up before the Road Committee, it was not considered, and the majority ofthe committee decide d, after discussion, that they should report adversely to the request or the refining company.Several months afterwards, the same applicalion was made by the company, and it was then deeid- ed that the comini:.« would accede to the demand of the com oy, wad, consequently, they gave them tv ciu;ht te tay the pipe.A number of memoer of the Road Committee had changed their minds about this matter, from what cause, however, he could not state, and this right elections, bui he was not aware that he had contributed anything to funds for muni- cipau elections. The reason why he considered that the charges made by Mr.Graham referred specially to hlmseit was on account of the questions which were put to Mr.Thibaudeau during his examination before the Civic Inve tigation.Senator Thibaudeau had be -n asked whether he wa= a personal friend of Messrs, way in which he always contrives to secure the undivided aitention of his auditors. The views were beautiful, and coupled with the versatile discourse of the secturer, created à mosc realistic scene, and .ransported the hearer in fancy to the spots descrived.Mr.Ragan began with several views ot the city of Denver, showing some of the principal streets, the Opera House an: Court Mouse.Thence he took his hearers to the picturesque Colorado Springs, a suort distance trom Denver and the &ardens of Paradise, at the entrance to which stands a large stone balanced in such a manner as to defy the principtes of gravita:ion; then through the mountain range.the wild scenery of which afforded many attractive views, and through the regiou of Easiern {Jtah to Salt Lake City. Here the Temple (unfurnished), the Tabernacle of the Mormon Church, the House of Endowment and several business scenes furnished the subject of is piciures.Leaving Ulah, and taking again to the mountains, he transferred his hearers to the terminus of the railway in New Mexico, viz., Haspagnol, but en route passed through some mountain scenery, notably the Animas Canyon.where the wonder of the spectator is arcvused to the highest pitch of admiration at the ingenuity and enormous labor evidenced in the construction uf rhe railways which intersect this portion of the Rocky Mountain Range. In one partol Append.WASHINGTON, Oct.31.—The failure of the United states Supreme Court to rend=r a di- cision to-day in the Anarchists’ cases and t'e announcement of the Chief Justice that ti court would not be ready to make public sueu decision until Wednesday or Thursday, are thought to indicate nothing more than the courl’s judgment will he set forth in a more or less elaborate opinion, and the justice to whom the preparation of that opinion has been assigned is not yet ready with it.It is the universal belief of lawyers who practice at the Supreme Court bar that the petition for a writ of error will be denied, but this belief is based only upon their own views of con- siitutionul law and tbe impression made upon their minds by the argument. The justices of the court will not allow
