moisture so when it rains, it dumps.The Insurance Bureau of Canada found one in five Canadians faces some level of flood risk, and 1.8 million households are at very high risk.Climate change-related events \u2014 including floods, drought and fires \u2014 are a drain on personal finances and the economy.With more than 80 significant floods in Canada since 2000, insurance costs are skyrocketing.The 2013 Alberta floods alone cost more than $6 billion.Canadians personally shoulder about $600 million each year in losses related to flooding.Around the world, insurers have paid out more than $200 billion over the past decade in claims for damages caused by coastal floods.Deforestation, wetland destruction and artificial shoreline projects worsen the problem.Insurance agencies recognize that, compared to expensive infrastructure, keeping ecosystems healthy prevents climate disasters, saves money and improves resiliency.Lloyd\u2019s of London encourages insurers to consider the value of natural coastal habitats when pricing flood risk.One study found ecosystems such as wetlands are more effective than seawalls in protecting against coastal storms.Insurers say conserving nature is about 30 times cheaper than building seawalls.Still, many jurisdictions focus on engineered structures such as rock walls or even giant sea gates for coastal flooding, dams and levees to hold back rivers, and draining to prevent wetlands from overflowing.But built infrastructure costs cash-strapped municipalities money, requires more maintenance and is less flexible than keeping natural areas intact.Urban concrete and asphalt surfaces prevent water from infiltrating into the ground and increase storm-water runoff.Rain gardens, bioswales and permeable pavements better manage flooding by reducing runoff and protecting flood plains and foreshore areas.Nature absorbs rainfall and prevents excess water from overwhelming pipe networks, backing up sewers and pooling in streets and basements.Restored river channels, parkways and beaches reduce costs, add valued amenities, increase access to nature and improve community health.Many local governments are trying to keep up by What a wonderfully evocative \")) word is light-heartedness.It is the recognition that when things are going well and life is rewarding, when we are happy, there is an actual physical sensation that occurs in the region of our hearts.It is an exhilarating feeling that somehow gives us a sense of liberation.Life is good and all's well in the world.As we all know the opposite sensation is also possible.We feel heavy hearted when the woes of the world or our own personal anguishes become overwhelming.In my experience these are conditions that we cannot change ourselves.We cannot decide how we will remove the burdens from our hearts.We cannot make our hearts lighter.However we can bring about the conditions that encourage this lightening.Prayer and meditation are the best ways I know to mitigate a heavy heart.For those who believe in a higher power, when we establish a regular prayer/ meditation routine, we may eventually begin to sense this presence.It can lighten a heavy heart just knowing we are not alone with our problems.But we do not have to hold this belief.Simply learning to quiet the outer noise of society and its expectations on us can become a way to distance ourselves from the dramas we live.To become an observer to ourselves can create just enough space that we do not hold our stories so tightly.Contrary to our natural tendency to try to ignore whatever is making our hearts heavy, if we can find a friend to share it with or if we can bring it to God, we may find that the intensity of our anguish is diminished.My wish for each reader is that you are able to create the conditions that your heart may know the liberating feeling of lightness.) If you are like me, sometimes \u2018Jou worry.Small worries carry us through our day and help us get things done: \u201cHave I transferred enough money into that account?\u201d \u201cIs there enough milk/bread/tea at home?\u201d \u201cDo these pants look all right?\u201d Medium- sized worries tug at our heart and prove our love: \u201cHave I made the right decision about my mother\u2019s care?\u201d \u201cWill my friend be OK?\u201d \u201cHave I done too little/too much/ the right or the wrong thing for my children?\u201d And, then, the big worries that can sometimes consume us: \u201cWhy do the wicked prosper?\u201d \u201cHow can every political system be fixed so that justice will be known and love will flourish?\u201d (Yes, I must figure out and fix them all!) And, so, light-hearted comes like a surprise.Like a gift from above, or below, or from wherever it is that we are reassured that we are enough and all is well.The sound of children laughing, at their games at the church picnic, wafts across the grass and everyone is smiling.The most perfect flower appears in the garden and you stop to notice.The hug.The joke.The unexpected romance when you think you are well past any of that.The deep knowledge and freedom that comes from remembering we are not in charge.That all we need to do is love the people around us and to do our best, whatever that best might be.Yesterday, I forgot the milk and got a notice about an unpaid bill, and the world did not end.This morning, I receive a happy text from my son, who seems to think I did OK after all, and wants to share some good news and make plans to get together.Tomorrow also will be perfect.entitled \u201cThe unbearable lightness of being.\u201d I never saw it but was always intrigued by the title.How could ) There was a movie a few years back \u201clightness of being\u201d be unbearable.Light-heartedness, for me, comes when the burdens and cares of life are unloaded, one by one, till our heart is able to be free and open again.When we are light-hearted we are able to see humour and joy in every situation.We recently had our Sunday School picnic, and my favourite job is getting the water balloons ready.We make a line and children and adults alike enjoy tossing the balloons back and forth, at ever longer distances, till they break.One five year old girl's balloon was punctured and she went around lightly spraying peoples faces.On a hot day this was quite delightful.Sunday school was over for the summer so there were no cares, no deadlines or burdens, and we could enjoy a bit of silliness.There are times to be serious, times to be responsible in word and action.I value those people who are diligent and carry heavy burdens.Every leadership team needs to work hard to make positive change.However, a little light-heart- edness goes a long way.We all need our water balloons from time to time.I think if I was making that movie I would call it \u201cthe wonderful Chancey to produce an album that we can actually call country, Wilson also wrote or co-wrote all of the 12 songs with some of Nashville\u2019s best and most seasoned songwriters.The new album has all choices of songs, arrangements and instrumentation are great.Wilson also has a beautiful duet called \u201cBad Feeling.\u201d She is joined by longtime friend Kid Rock on the album\u2019s bluesy, horn-backed, powerful ballad.Their voices both compete and complement at once.It is a soulful number about too people parting ways.She knows he is leaving, and nothing she does or tries will make him stay.The two first met in 2004, when he and Hank Williams Jr.appeared in her \u201cRedneck Woman\u201d video.They have collaborated many times during live shows.\u201cSummertime Town,\u201d paints the portrait of beaches closing up and people driving back after vacation.The message is clear as it is about a woman not wanting to be a man\u2019s fling if he will be leaving.She\u2019s not interested.\u201cWhiskey and My Bible\u201d is a slower song about a woman who\u2019s trying to hold on and keep on living.Religion and whiskey are the two things that keep her hanging on.It is a very emotional song which showcases a softer side of Wilson in a rare vulnerable moment.\u201cLetting Go of Hanging On\u201d offers some really nice steel guitar and banjo.It tells the story of a woman fed up of trying to save her relationship.She decides to let go and call it quits.In \u201cI Ain\u2019t That Desperate Yet,\u201d the YOUTUBE lady is unwilling to change her ways just to make someone happy.This number offers a great and positive message, to never settle for anything less than perfection in a relationship.\u201cHard Earned Money\u201d is about how hard it is to earn money that is really so easily spent.\u201cMary Kay & Maybelline\u201d is another very emotional song.It is about hiding the way you feel inside with makeup so people don\u2019t know what a mess you are in the inside.\u201cA Little Loretta\u201d is a fun song.First of all, it references Loretta Lynn.It\u2019s all about a woman who has had enough of her man going out in bars and cheating on her and now she\u2019s \u201con the warpath.\u201d It immediately makes you think of Loretta Lynn\u2019s song \u201cYour Squaw is on the Warpath.\u201d The final track, \u201cBig Wood Deck,\u201d is just a fun summertime song.It is about the pleasure of sitting on a big wood deck with a beer in the sun.While the songs may be new, thematically, they feel like they could easily have been part of the list of possibilities for her 2004 debut, Here For The Party.Production quality on all her albums has been very good and this one is no exception.Her absence from the recording scene caused for many to 34-year-old quarterback has had some promising moments in his first two games, which the Alouettes split, but the statistics are lagging and Montreal is second to last in the nine-team CFL with an average of only 18 points scored per game.Their defence, which has allowed a league-low 39 points, has kept them in both of their games so far.Durant hopes the attack gets on track when the Alouettes play host to the B.C.Lions (1-1) on Thursday night at Percival Molson Stadium.\u201cWe're very close,\u201d said the former Saskatchewan stalwart who was Montreal's top off-season acquisition.\u201cWhen we watched the film (of a 23-19 loss in Edmonton last week), we saw how many yards we left on the field, whether from penalties or mental errors or you name it.\u201cThis week has been all about execution, making sure we're in the right places and execute.How you hurt yourself is if you get down to the red zone and you can't score.Then you're setting yourself up for disaster.\u201d It was expected that the Alouettes offence would take time to jell under a new quarterback and a rebuilt offensive line and that is what has happened.Durant has passed for only 399 yards and the team ranks near the bottom in most offensive statistics, except rushing, where B.C.led by Jeremiah Johnson is first with 227 yards and Montreal, with Tyrell Sutton lugging the ball, is think that it adds value to my life and pushes the human race forward.However, I am not totally sure that my consumption of \u201csocial\u201d media and constant use of my phone is a good thing.I didn\u2019t think of myself as overly addicted to my phone until recently.I saw a piece on \u201c60 Minutes\u201d about how some consumer software companies actively try to get users addicted to their applications via psychological cues, such as notifications and likes.I then read a piece in Fast Company about a freelancer who did a one-month digital detox and saw his productivity skyrocket.Finally, that same week, I read a research piece from Harvard Business Review that essentially said that the more time we spend on Facebook the more it bums us out.I realized that social
