recognition of the significant role he has played, Cheal was presented with a special “Wilson Street Retiree” t-shirt donated by Bene Creations in Lennoxville as a part of the end of season barbeque.ILOCAL News Wilson Street CONT'D FROM PAGE 1 “Jeff takes care of everything,” said Coach Dana Lassenba, praising the man’s dedication to the junior softball league “We’ve been so lucky to have him.” Lassenba and her husband Steve will be taking over the commissioner role next year after having started coaching teams two years ago.“I played in the league as a little kid,” the incoming commissioner said, explaining that more than just being an opportunity to play sports, Wilson Street Softball is a caring community and a kind of local culture that has been passed from hand to hand over the years. In the same vein, Cheal described himself as just another link in the chain of people who have helped to coordinate the Wilson Street League since its original founding by Jim and Wendy Wark.“I have been involved with ball pretty much my whole life and enjoyed it thoroughly, this was pretty much the next step,” the outgoing commissioner said.Reflecting on his decision to leave, Cheal said that the passing of the torch was as simple as could be.“People just step in.I didn’t really even ask, I just said I was thinking of getting out of it because my kids are growing up and right away these guys said, no problem.” Although stepping back from the Wilson Street league, Cheal said that he will likely just be moving his involvement to the Wark teen league that was founded in recent years to help bridge the gap between Wilson Street and the Waterville adult league “My kids are still playing ball in the teenage league,” he noted, “so that’s probably my next step.” In recognition of the significant role he has played, Cheal was presented with a special “Wilson Street Retiree” t-shirt donated by Bene Creations in Lennoxville as a part of the end of season barbeque. While praising the commissioner for the work he has done, Lassenba also highlighted the fact that all of the work of the league is supported by donations and volunteer work.Using the example of the barbeque itself, she pointed out that the celebration would not have been possible without contributions from Lennoxville’s Jean-Coutu, Subway, and Provigo, as well as a very significant donation from the Luce family. These donations and others like them, she said, help maintain the league’s focus on keeping enjoyment at the heart of the organization.“It’s all about learning and having fun,” the incoming commissioner said.Lennoxville sign 1s returned MATTHEW MCCULLY The wooden sign that disappeared during recent work on the veterans park next to Lennoxville's Borough Office is back on its posts. No one from the Borough was available over the weekend to clarify the circumstances of the sign's mysterious reappearance, although it was clarified that the sign is the original and not a replacement. The original disappearance prompted concern in the community because of the fact that the City of Sherbrooke has no investment in the sign, which dates back to Lennoxville's time as a separate municipality.% PES ES 60 co ret of Vora a MALLORY, SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC J1M 2E2 Divulging mental 1llness in a new relationship MONDAY, JULY 17, 2017 Dear Annie: It’s no secret that there is a stigma when it comes to mental health in today’s society.I've struggled with anxiety and depression for several years now, and I’m fortunate to have it “under control,” so to speak, thanks to therapy and medication.I like to think that I am in charge of my illness rather than the other way around, and I don’t want to be shy about it, because it is part of who I am.However, I'm now not sure when it’s appropriate to share this information with someone.I am in a happy, healthy new relationship, and I care about my boyfriend very much.I feel that this is something he needs to know about me, but I'm scared to bring it up, because I don’t want to scare him off.I'm sure that he will be very understanding once he knows, and I really do want him to know, but I don’t know how realistic it is for me to wait for this subject to come up naturally. It is a hard thing to say out loud. The thought of telling him overwhelms me, but I am even more overwhelmed knowing that he doesn’t know this huge thing about me.Should I just go ahead and bring it up to him out of the blue and get it over with, or should I wait?— Smitten and Scared Dear Smitten and Scared: There is no set timeline for divulging mental Show you've really got heart.Give us a hand by becoming a volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and help fight the #1 cause of death in Quebec.Dear Annie health issues to a new partner. The right time is whenever it feels right for you. That means when you trust him, when you're sure the relationship is serious and when the fact that you haven’t told him is really bugging you.If you're at that point, then you're ready to have the conversation.Decide ahead of time just how much you want to divulge.À short, simple explanation like the one you gave me would be perfectly acceptable, and you can reveal more as your relationship progresses. He will not break up with you over this, and if he does, you're better off without him.Dear Annie: In my local newspaper this past weekend, there was a wonderful column in which you provided information about Al-Anon (the support group for friends and family members troubled by someone else’s drinking).I just wanted to thank you for putting the word out there. Many people don’t know about Al-Anon.They say that for every alcoholic in a family, at least 10 others are affected by his/her behavior and are unaware of it.I know that Al- Anon has helped many people learn to live and even love their alcoholic family members.Thank you.— Lori H.Dear Lori: Alcoholism truly is a family disease, and I believe it’s as important for loved ones to seek help as it is for the problem drinkers to do so.For more information and to find a meeting near you, visit http://al-anon.org or call
