l'on commence même à en perdre le souvenir ; et sans l\u2019ouvrage.en question, tous les records et les réminiscences e l'ancien Québec et de ses localités, depuis près d\u2019un siècle disparaitront sous peu d\u2019années sans qu\u2019il soit possible de se les rappeler, = SEPTEMBER l , Sous l\u2019impression que l\u2019entreprise rencontrera l\u2019approbation publique, le soussigné s\u2019est décidé à publier le présent prospectus.Le caractère historique et antiquaire de l\u2019ou - vrage sera aisément reconnu, si l\u2019on examine la courte des { cription suivante du sujet de chaque vue.No.1.\u2014 Une vue générale de Québec de la Pointe Lévi.Sur le terrein:en avant, l\u2019on voit des troupes s\u2019embarquer et traverser la rivière dans des bateaux de la flotte.Une ligne de vaisseaux de guerre à l\u2019ancre.La ville présente le coup d'œil ordinaire, mais la vue est remarquable, en cè qu\u2019elle présente l\u2019accroisgement de la Basse-Ville depuis 1759.\u2014Où passe maintenant la rue St.Paul, l\u2019on ne voit que quelques maisons au détour de la pointe du Sault-au- Matelot, près du roc.L'amas de maisons dont le coin était la présente Banque de Montréal, se fait aussi appercevoir.En bas de la maison de l\u2019hon.J.Hale, est un bâtiment du commerce, sur les chantiers, à la grève.L'on distingue facilement le quai de la Reine et la place de débarquement de'la Basse-Ville.No.11.\u2014Partie Nord-Ouest de la Ville de Québec.Ceci est une vue, de la rivière St.Charles, prise au-dessus du Parcdu Roi.L'on y appercoit l\u2019arrière du Palais de l\u2019Intendant, ainsi que les ramparts, tels qu\u2019ils étaient alors.La ligne est maintenant à peu près la même, montant de la petite rivière au cap, en traversant l\u2019Esplanade.L\u2019on distingue les casernes de l'artillerie, ainsi que les magasins.L\u2019on y peut remarquer la Cunoterie, avec un édifice qui existe encore dans la rue St.Charles, et dernièrement employé comme brasserie.No.III.Le Palais de l\u2019Intendant.C\u2019est une vue très intéressante de la célèbre résidence des Intendants de Québec, C\u2019est un superbe édifice, qui est en face du mur.avec une cour et des ailes, écuries, &c.L\u2019on voit les jardins vers I\u2019 Ho pital Général, bordés d\u2019arbres à l\u2019ouzst.Le contraste entre cette perspective et la présente apparence du lien, est très frappant.No.IV.La Trésorerie et le Collège des Jésuites.Ceci donne une perspective de la cathédrale française \u2014 du côté du Collège des Jésuites, (maintenant converti en casernes)\u2014et du site de la maison de Mr, Delagrave, rue lat Fabrique, et est une vue intéressante.La rue la Fabrique n\u2019est pas continuée plus bas que la maison de Mr.Massue.\u2019 No.V.Le Collège et l\u2019Eglise des Jésuites.C\u2019est un précieux reste de l\u2019antiquité, donnant le front du Collège des Jésuites, à peu près comme il parait maintenant ; avec le dehors de l\u2019ancienne et célèbre église des Jésuites, la première bâtie à Québec, et dans la quelle CHAMPLAIN a été inhumé.Elle était bâtie sur le terrein appelé le marché au foin, et joignait presque le Collège, près de l'entrée de la biblio= thèque de la garnison.No.VI.L'intérieur de l\u2019Eglise des Jésurtes.C\u2019est aussi une vue précieuse, en ce qu\u2019elle montre la beauté de l\u2019intérieur de cette Eglise qui n\u2019existe plus, et les dommages que lui ont causés les bombes lancées de la Pointe Lévi.No.VII.Lu Cathédrale, le Collège des Jésuites et D\u2019 Eglise des Frères Récollets.Celle-ci donne une curieuse perspective de la Placed\u2019 Armes.En front, parait la vieille église des Récollets, sur le site de la présente Cour de Justice et de l\u2019Eglise Anglicanne.Un détachement de grenadiers parade dans le centre\u2014et des officiers montagnards conversent ensemble.Le vieil arbre, au coin de la rue du Trésor, se fait remarquer, ainsi que la maison de Mr.Roi et celle de Mr.Fortier, presque comme à présent.No.VIII.L\u2019intérieur de l'Eglise des Frères Récollets.C\u2019est encore un morceau intéressant ; l\u2019édifice ayant été depuis nombre d\u2019années détruit par le feu.L\u2019on voit sur les murs, les tableaux dont Charlevoix fait mention, ainsi que la chaire et le confessional.La couverture est beaucoup endommagée par les batteries.No.IX.Le Couvent des Ursulines, pris des Ramparts.C\u2019est une perspective prise de l\u2019Esplanade, et il n\u2019y a aucune maison entre les murs du couvent et l\u2019Esplanade qui est reme plise de concavités marécageuses.Sur la droite est une partie de la rue St.Louis avec quelques maisons.Au dessus, l\u2019on ap- perçoit le cap à diamant.A la gauche, sont les casernes du Dauphin, où sont maintenant la prison et l\u2019Eglise Ecossaise: Le Bosquêt des Jésuites, qui est demeuré dans la cour des casernes jusqu\u2019à il y a quelque tems, parait à une distance.Par son antiquité et les changemens qui ont eu lieu depuis, c\u2019est une vue très intéressante.\u2018No.X.Le Palais de I' Evéque en ruine, comme il parait en montant de la Basse- Ville à la Haute.Le palais de l\u2019Evêque dans cette vue, à la même apparence- qu\u2019à présent, Il y aune clôture de piquets et une porte où est maintenant la porte Prescott.Les maisons sur la rue la Montagne sont toutes détruites.No.XI.Le même en descendant de la Houte- Ville à la Basse.C\u2019est une curieuse vue qui représente le palais de l\u2019Evêque, ousont maintenant les chambres du Conseil Législatif et la chapelle, ci-devant le siège de la Chambre d\u2019Assemblée.Devant, l\u2019on voit un mur et une porte élégante.Le chemin parait alors avoir détourné court dans la rue Buade.No.XII.L\u2019Eglise de Notre Dame de la Victoire, bâtie en commémoration de lu levée du siège en 1690, et détruite en 1759.: C\u2019est un tableau de prix, qui donne une perspective de la condition du marché de la.Basse-Ville.L\u2019Eglise parait pres- qu\u2019entièrement détruite.Au sud, sont trois maisons et cing au nord, toutes grandes et solides, bâties en pierre, donnant une idée favorable de la résidence des marchands français.Les maisons existent encore actuellement.Les douze vues de Québec sus-décrites, dont on se Propose, de donner la lithographie par souscription, furent originairement gravées par Messrs.Grignion, Canot, Elliot et autres artistes supérieurs.L\u2019exécution de l\u2019ouvrage sera confiée à Messrs.STODART & CURRIER, de New-York, dont les talens reconnus dans cette partie des arts, rendront toute justice à l\u2019entreprise.Le prix de souscription pour la lithographie des 12 vues de Québec, prises en 1761, d\u2019une grandeur de vingt pouces sur douze, sera de huit dollars, payables À la livraison de l\u2019ouvrage qui doit être commencé aussi tôt qu\u2019il y aura deux cens sous- cuipteurs.J.CHARLTON FISHER, LL.D., Québec, 29 Août, 1885.M QUEBEC : Imprimée'et'Publiée sous l'Autorité Royale, _ = par JouN CHARLTON FISHER, et WILLIAM KEMBIE, - Imprimeur de Sa Très-Excellente Majesté le Roi, poux.\u201cIa Province du BAs-CAnaApa, "]
