it has contacted our agricultural classes personally, through a corps of trained salesmen, so that each farmer may receive the benefit of advice applicable to his own individual needs and conditions. This is good work, and cannot but react to the mutual benefit of the farmers and the company.Fertilizers are of paramout importance in the producing of a successful crop.International Fertilizers has backed the fine ingredients in “ALBATROSS” products with advertisements which, in themselves, are practical textbooks on land fertilization.Undoubtedly, these are reasons why, in the few years this company has operated in this province, they have made such steady growth.Among the first to change form the old sixteen per cent superphosphate to the more economical and more productive twenty per cent, International Fertilizers has found it necessary to increase the capacity of its plants at Quebec and St.Johns, in itself evidence of the appreciation shown by our farmers for the part this company has played in furthering the interests of agriculture In our province.Holstein-Friesian Association Favours Milk Board The largest attended annual meeting of the various live stock associations held in Toronto during the week of February 4-9, was that of the Holstein-Friesian Association of Canada.More than 200 breeders, representing all provinces were in attendance at the 52nd annual business session.Other than a proposed amendment to the constitution to continue with the present temporary reduction in registration and transfer fees until 1937 which carried unanimously, there were no important changes up for endorsement, and therefore the business of the day was little more than that of general routine.Just before the noonday adjournment the members were addressed by JE.Houck, member of the Ontario re a MARCH 9th.1935 iC The Prospects are Good, BUT what will the PROFITS be ?Look ahead 5 to 6 months. The kind and quality of layers your pullets will be depends in a large measure on the start your chicks get.Good chicks without Pioneer Chick Mash are much the same as good seed in poor, unfertilized soil.Neither will thrive without proper nourishment.Pioneer Chick Mash is the best chick insurance available. It provides that built-in quality because it furnishes the chick’s every need.Pioneer builds the foundation for future profit.Pioneer is doing this for increasing numbers of poul- trymen every year, from the Rockies to Newfoundland. It will do the same for you.See your local dealer to-day for a supply.PIONEER Lick, A Product of Western Canada Flour Mills Co.LIMITED Head Office: Toronto Branches from Coast to Coast CASH by return mail for Dental Gold.We also pay $3.26 for a $2.50 Gold piece.PROVINCIAL REFINERS, 361L Yonge St., Toronto.SIXTY POUNDS HONEY — Six tens or twelve fives—Clover, $5.40 Golden $5.10.Amber $4.50.Quantity Discounts.HERBERT HARRIS, Alliston, Ont.CLIPPERS—Blades sharpened on special automatic machines, work guaranteed per- feet 254 per set.Quick service, blades sold at very lower price.HERMENFGILDE FONTAINE SON, Notre Dame Pierre- ville, Yamaska Cty, Que.- Milk Control Board, who paid tribute to officials of this and other dairy cattle breed associations, but declared that continual eriti- cism of the administration by the daily press of the country was endangering the work and greatly increasing the difficulties of the Board. At the conclusion of the address the Milk Board received general endorsation by the passing of the following resolution.Resolved: that this meeting endorse the activities of the Ontario Milk Control Board on licensing and bonding distributors under regulation, thereby guaranteeing payments to farmers for their product; the keeping of agreements between producers and distributors and that further amendements be enacted if and when the industry requires it.The presidential address of W, L.Carr, Huntingdon, Que., was optimistic in tone and after paying tribute to several breeders for outstanding merit in show and production tests during the year, expressed the opinion that the time was near at hand when some form of more selective registrations must be taken up by the Holstein- Friesian Association. The Seed Situation in Quebec (Continued from page 6) PEAS The quantity of peas available for sale in the Province was about 4,500 bushels, coming from the Temiscamingue district and Chateauguay county. The Ottawa Valley supplies 75% of Quebec’s needs.FLAX The production of flaxseed is almost entirely confined to the county of Soulanges. The production was about 275,000 Ibs.All of this is sold for export to Ireland, where prices are very good.Generally speaking, the grading was satisfactory, but this grain, like the others, suffered from drought, and so had not as good an appearance as the year previous.CONCLUSION It may be stated that all seed grains produced in Quebec, with the exception of oats, should sell without difficulty and at good prices. It is then important that the farmers organize their cropping systems so as to be able to harvest each year a certain quantity of seed grain. The larger number could grow seed for their own needs, and in the more favoured centres a permanent industry could be built up.Timothy and clover seed always sell well, though this is by no means true of the hay crop.19 —— Remember the pictures below when you want fast relief from pain.Demand and get the method doctors prescribe-—Aspirin.Millions have found that Aspirin eases even a bad headache, neuritis or rheumatic pain often in a few minutes! “best string of five” at the Canadian National, Toronto; and “best string of four” at Lindsay.Apple Pollination Conditions Omitting climatic factors, two conditions must be fulfilled to assure apple pollination; first, a suitable pollen supply, and secondly, an adequate supply of insect pollinators.Regarding the first condition, the question of self-fruit- fulness arises. From work done in New Brunswick, says Mr.H.Hill, Dominion Experimental Farm, Ottawa, it is stated that McIntosh apple trees though not self-sterile are commercially self- unfruitful.Dr.Brittain, working with a large number of varieties in Nova Scotia, states that, with the exception of the variety Baldwin, all varieties of apples that he studied must be regarded as commercially self-unfruitful and that even Baldwin gave better results when pollinated with another variety.A general recommendation is made that no variety should be planted in solid blocks.Where such a condition exists there is bound to be a pollination problem which will necessitate top-working every fourth or fifth row to a suitable pollenizing variety, or introducing branches of bloom of a suitable variety kept fresh by placing them in a tub of water. The latter method is not very satisfactory, for the cut blooms do not remain fresh long and it means robbing other trees of large quantities of bloom which might otherwise set fruit.I MARCH 9th.1985 21 -— on an AND CORRECT WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION New weight distribution .seats and engine moved forward .nT A mn ey an Only Plymouth, among Lowest-priced Cars, gives you ALL these Comfort and Safety Features Ta YEAR you're hearing plenty about “Redistributed Weight”.Almost every 1935 car has changed its weight-balance in some way.But the next time you read about it .or hear somebody discuss it .remember this: Only Plymouth, in the lowest-price field, had the authentic engineering background to redistribute weight correctly.Plymouth’s “Floating Ride” is based on the combined experience of many thousands of last year’s “Airflow” owners over more than a hundred million miles of road! Dominion Horticulturist For the past three years the Horticultural Division has been conducting investigations in the harvesting and cold storage of apples, and from this work a few positive recommendations seem to emerge from a mass of negative and sometimes confusing results. The ultimate keeping quality of fruit is influenced by many factors among which the following are important: (1) Fertilizer practice.(2) Time of picking.(3) Time of cooling to low temperatures.(4) Temperature of storage.(5) Humidity of the storage. No attempt will be made to discuss No.1 in detail but it is well to point out that fruit from orchards under a high state of cultivation, where high nitrogen conditions prevail, will not keep, particularly at the higher temperatures, as well as fruit from sod orchards.Time of harvesting has a considerable influence on the ultimate keeping quality.Fruit picked when too immature shrinks badly and never develops that fullness of flavour found in more mature specimens. To date there is not available any very accurate means to judge the correct maturity of either Fameuse or McIntosh. It seems safe to say, however, that as soon as the seeds of these are almost fully coloured brown, it is time to pick.On the whole, we have found that the Ontario and Quebec Growers are now harvesting these varieties at the proper time.Handling after picking.— This appears to be the most important factor in present practices and one which is causing considerable loss.A series of experiments in which fruit from different orchards was stored at low temperatures within forty-eight hours from picking as compared with samples of the same fruit not stored at low temperatures until seven or ten days after picking, has revealed some interesting data. The fruit which was held in an ordinary packing house or shed for a week or ten days before being sent to cold store broke down badly with brown heart by Christmas time, whereas the same fruit stored within forty-eight hours of picking, kept exceptionally well until early March, Fruit which cannot be placed in cold store immediately after harvesting, should not be held for long periods. The cold store can only delay maturity, it cannot undo damage already done by faulty pre-storage handling.Although there are some particularly well balanced orchards, the fruit from which can stand more delayed storage than others, delayed storage is not a safe practice for fruit intended for winter markets.Storage temperatures.— Fruits, like human beings, are living organisms. They breathe, and the higher the temperature, the faster they breathe. To delay their maturity by cutting down their rate of breathing, low temperatures are necessary. The correct temperature for storage purpose varies to some extent with the variety and to some extent with the source of the material. From our results to date a 32° F.temperature appears to suit the Fameuse variety.Fameuse from a wide range of conditions keep remarkably well at this temperature when put there immediately after being harvested. This temperature appears to iron out most of the difference in keeping quality due to nutritional treatment. That is to say, from the various treatments we have employed, this has been so to date.We recommend this temperature for Fameuse apples. While McIntosh is naturally a longer keeper than Fameuse, and while the bulk of them keep crisp and in good condition much longer than Fameuse at 32° F., we frequently find lots of MeIntosh which go down shortly after Christmas with brown core or brown heart trouble.Peculiarly enough this brown heart condition is not prevalent at 40°F .but is very prevalent at all temperatures between 40° and 32° getting worse at 36° and starting to get better again at 34° and not very bad at 32° F.But for the fact that we have not as yet been able to maintain sufficiently high humidity at 40° to prevent bad shrinkage, this temperature could be recommended, However, for the present, we recommend 32° F.with the possibility of finding a temperature lower than that which wil] eliminate such brown heart as is now found at 32°.Further work on McIntosh is necessary before any change in the above recommendation should be made.Humidity of the storage.— If a cold store is kept too dry, bad shrinkage results and we have apples appearing wilted. It is necessary, therefore, to insist on high humidity—and a humidity of 90 per cent should be attained if at all possible.A relative humidity of 80 per cent will bring about a rapid evaporation and is altogether too low for best results. —— =.MARCH 9th.1985 HORSES IDLE ‘ ELING SKITTISH STEPS ON FOOT SWELLING BADLY y SN PAT ON SLOAN'S CK RELIEF THERE is no need to suffer from the pain of a Que.The Maple And Its Products (Continued from page 4) There are the many questions and the problems the producer has to solve. They whirl in his head as he stretches to sleep, with one eye open, lying down on a bedstead near the fire that will keep him nice and warm during the night.Years ago, the farmer would go to his ‘‘cabane à sucre”, very much the same way as one goes to gather wild berries. If the crop was plentiful, all right; but if it was not, no one would suffer. He would make enough for his family, and if there was more than his needs, he would sell the remainder to his neighbors. In most cases, a large boiler in the open air, resting on three stones, was the only equipment. The making of maple produets was not then an industry. It was done on very free processes. It is not the same nowadays. There is now a good market for these products. The making is done on principles established by experience and science.Modern equipment is available to the producer, according to the various regulations of sanitation. This, indeeed, involves a higher cost of production and also the necessity to sell at better prices.! The buyer?.There’s the rub. What's the use to produce if one does not sell?Frankly enough, our maple products enjoy a fair market. This market, however, is relatively better outside than at home, and yet it is the contrary that should exist. The articles that are to follow this introduction are intended to educate our publie, the housewives especially, on the nutritive value of maple products, make them familiar with their various cooking possibilities, and increase all over the country the demand for these products.Every one has an interest in supporting, by his custom, an industry that is essentially proper to our country, more so to the Province of Quebec, since it is admitted that the individual prosperity in the section of a country means a great deal for the whole community’s prosperity.More package bees were imported into Canada in 1934 than formerly, in spite of 60 per dent increase in prices over the previous year. Many of these bees, however, were to replace losses from the previous winter, and their purchase indicates that more interest is being taken generally in honey production, although the crops of honey had been light.HALIFAX 1—/"3RANULES protect the phosphate from reversion and keep it available for the crop.2—C-I-L Granular Superphosphate contains no free sulphuric acid.3—C-I-L Granular Superphosphate makes free-flowing fertilizers.4—Free-flowing fertilizers ensure even distribution and an even crop.5—C-I-L Free Flowing Fertilizers are made entirely in Canada.C-I-L Free-Flowing FERTILIZERS CROIAN INDUSTZ Send to-day for literature, prices and name LIMITED of your nearest dealer.CANADIAN INDUSTRIES LIMITED FERTILIZER DIVISION P.O.BOX 1260 MONTREAL, Que.TORONTO NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C.CIri48 1883 Holstein-Friesian |1935 Association of Canada MAINTAINS STRONG POSITION REGISTRATIONS TRANSFERS EXPORTS 1934 1934 1934 21,225 15,434 4,022 Upward march of progress continues as ‘world’s greatest breed of Dairy Cattle hold prestige of farmers all over Canada through recognized leadership in the production of Milk - Butter - Fat - Profit. If you are not breeding Holsteins now is the time to buy a real good bull and a few foundation females. For further particulars apply: DIRECTOR OF EXTENSION of Canada ONTARIO Holstein - Friesian Association BRANTFORD - - - 24 MARCH 9th.1985 SAVE THE BRIDGE HANDS Any 52 cards will be accepted as a complete series.GRADS L.O.GROTHE, LIMITED — Manufacturers Canadian and Independent Firm.BIG 1 Government Approved Chicks, From Government Inspected Flocks.Barred Rocks, White Rocks, Reds 11¢ Leghorns 10e Premium Chicks from eggs averaging 26 ounces and over 2V4¢ more.Write for catalogue which tells about our 600 free Chicks.Deposit $1.00 per 100.KITCHENER CHICK HATCHERY, 1081 King East, Kitchener, Ont.If you build or remodel a barn this year .write now for more particulars .! 9 JUTRAS announces.© \\ new ultra modern stall, the greatest improvement in the construction of sanitary steel stalls e We have the most complete line of stalls with stanchions and chains pens, horse stalls, manure carriers, hay forks, ete.© The only equipment made in the Province of Quebec suited to the finest barns in Canada.JUTRAS .The pioneers of the lightest Manure Spreader .in the country The HIGHEST VALUE in Spreader » The consistent popu- Manure Spreader larity of JUTRAS.is due not only to its well known superiority, but the value is unequalled at the new all-tlme low prices.JUTRAS .ultra-rapid.EVAPORATOR ® Will shorten the monotonous hours of boiling, burn less wood, save time and improve the syrup quality.Fourteen sizes to chose from, but only one quality.capacity from 25 to 265 gallons an hour.e Made in special double coat- ed tin sheet, the same high quality used for 40 years.Buy it with confidence.: FREE 186 photos © ® ame.: Ju Le TRA uv VICTORIAVILLE PQ.@ Post Office Fill this coupon now PLEASE send me the prices of products here marked with — X - J CATALOGUE SS.[ ] Evaporator with sugar-bush accessories.without obligation.Spreader [ ] Stable Equipment Ce i eats ei eas iar caer tat as tae Does good seed pay dividends?(Continued from page 6) This is the experience of one farmer, showing the results obtained because of a change of seed. There are others who might obtain similar results, but we do not wish to convey the idea that a change seed will always bring results so spectacular at those shown. There are two points of importance to keep in mind in connection with this man’s experience.First that the greatest benefit resulted from the use of a good variety: the Banner oats in this instance producing more grain per acre was the main factor in increasing the yield; and second that in shipping registered seed to this farmer we were sure that he was gettting good seed of the Banner variety. This is a very important point in the purchase of seed because when we buy seed of unknown origin we sometimes do not get what we ask for.If we commence with seed of known origin as a basis upon which to build a firm foundation for the production of crops we will not often be disappointed.Registered seed is of known variety and is pure within the high standards set for good seed. For these reasons registered seed is safe, and is sold only in sealed containers which insures its true- ness to variety. The Quality of Seeds Used On Farms (Continued from page 5) and the giving of grants for the purchase of large fanning mills to groups wishing to establish seed- cleaning centres. The working out of these programmes for the improvement of seed during the past twenty to thirty years has generalized the use of registered and improved seed, and has increased the practice of cleaning seed.Today, the bulk of the seed used for cereal crops is of recognized varieties and if not of, at least is derived from, registered seed.Outside of seed centres however, the improvement in the use of clean seed has not kept pace with that of using superior varieties, as is shown by more recent surveys. In 1928, about two hundred samples of seed as used by farmers were obtained from Laprairie and Berthier Counties.Fifteen per cent of the samples graded Nos.1, 2 and 3, the balance being classed as rejected. In 1930, out of 238 samples taken from the same counties, twenty- six samples came within the three commercial seed grades and the balance were classed as rejected. As these samples were obtained on the farmers’ premises at seeding time they truly represented what was being used.It is safe to state that conditions were not better in this respect in the other parts of the province, as these two counties are amongst the most advanced in this connection. On the basis of the surveys of 1928 and 1930 it would seem that the results obtained are not commensurate with the effort made and the expenses incurred on the part of government. On the other hand, when consideration is given to the amounts of grain and of seed of superior varieties produced in this province, it must be recognized that the work was not entirely in vain.Twenty-five years ago, we produced a few thousand pounds of timothy seed, graded seed of oats was unknown, and no clover seed was harvested. In the past year, 225,000 bushels of seed oats were produced in Quebec, of which between 75% and 80% were graded as No.1 seed, as well as 1,200,000 pounds of timothy, and half a million pounds of clover seeds.Seed Grades in Canada (Continued from page 8) shows to what grade the seed belongs, whether No.1 or 2, and gives the inspection certificate number and the name of the inspector who attached the seals.Through the purchase of such material the grower is assured of a high grade seed.General Seeds of Commerce Registered and certified seeds requiring special attention in production and preparation are not found on the market in very large quantities. It must not be concluded because of this fact that the products generally sold by seedsmen are marketed without any guarantee and are purchased entirely at the buyer's risk. The fact is that The Seeds’ Act.1923, obligates the vendor of seed to have all seeds classified and tagged according to the grade, No.1, 2 or 3.The grade that a lot of seed belongs to is determined by a study or analysis of a sample, when attention is given to the presence of weed seeds and of other kinds of grain, the germinating power of the seed, also its color, weight, and uniformity. In the case of cereals the sample analyzed must weigh at least one pound, and two ounces in the case of grass and clover seeds. The details as to the standards set for the three grades of seed are stated in THE SEEDS’ ACT, 1923, a copy of which can be obtained from the SEED BRANCH, 209 ST.CATHERINE ST.EAST., MONTREAL.Space does not permit giving all the details here. and, he pointed out, during the past five years of depression, it has been the ‘‘extreme” things that have been most heav- ilv penalized. In the years of fictitious prosperity, the speaker declared, all of us had been given to extremes — and even Ayrshire breeders had lost their balance at times. He instanced occasional tendencies to breed for size, though in his opinion a big cow should not be the Ayrshireman’s ideal; likewise, he thought, there may sometimes have been a tendency to go after too high a fat content in Ayrshire milk — but, he added, the Ayshire cow herself has properly resisted these efforts at extremes. We are emerging from the depression, said the speaker, with a different set of values from that which we had five years ago; we have substituted for our money obsession — for our tendency to value everything in terms of dollars and cents — a standard that is truer: a standard of worth in terms of what brings satisfaction in life. This, he felt, is especially observable in the young.Too much prosperity in the vears before the depression, he declared, may have been bad for breeding. There may have been too much trading — for it was so easy to sell.Quality wasn’t as vital as it is to-day.We’ve had to do more within our own herds, and this, he felt, has been a good thing for the breed. In our appreciation of the importance of the sire, we were too apt to overlook the importance of a good line of females — the foundation of a good breeding herd. This, however, has been rectified in recent years.Balance needed between Dairy Products Turning to markets, Dr.Barton pointed out the new commercial setting that now faces us — and the consequent need of regulation in marketing if the dairy industry as a whole is to flourish. But this, he felt, must be carefully done if we would avoid upsetting the balance between different dairy products. It is not so long, the speaker pointed out, since Canada’s chief dairy products were cheese for export and dairy butter for the home market. Then creamery butter assumed a position of real importance, and now some 41 per cent of our product finds its market as whole milk for city consumption. There is at present, he said, a continuous interplay between cheese, creamery butter, and whole milk— and no one group of producers of milk can assume a position of ind- ependance. The organizations producing these three products represent some of our major farm entreprizes — and they are distinct in their set-ups: the whole- milk farm, the butter farm, the cheese farm.We must have some basis of commercial relationship between these — we need some balance, and still more, some stabilization.Uncertainty, he felt, is demoralizing. The cheese people, the cream and butter people, the whole-milk people should be confirmed in their business — enjoy such relationships commercially that they will be content to produce milk for the market that they can best serve. This is a pressing problem, said the speaker, and to ignore the problem is not to solve it.It may be, concluded Dr.Barton, that we shall have to resort to some form of regulation: 1.To eliminate waste; 2.To bring about a more orderly movement of our products; MARCH 9th.1985 Differences of opinion on almost every subject under the sun —but only one world-opinion about spark plugs.Entering their 25th year, Champion Spark Plugs outsell all others all around the world. If Beiter Performance Is Important SPARK PLUGS ARE VITALLY IMPORTANT AR: HE & USE THE SPARK PLUGS CHAMPIONS USE CANADIAN- MADE PRODUCT CHAMPION EXTRA-RANGE SPARK PLUGS HABACURE Five Pound Trial Can Sent C.O.D.for only 98c Sufficient to home-cure and flavor 50 to 70 lbs.of Ham or Bacon in one operation.Habacure is a wonderfully improved flavor-giving, meat-pene- trating compound that secures the finest cured meat possible to produce. It saves time and labor, keeps cured meat fresh much longer and produces deliciously flavoured hams and bacon of supreme quality.Ready to Use—Nothing to Add No smoking necessary.no loss from improper curing, shrinkage enormously reduced, no chance of over-smoking.The distilled wood smoke in Habacure is so accurately measured and the flavoring and curing ingredients are so scientifically blended that every ham and bacon receives “A Perfect Cure”.Send Name and Address and we will send vou the big 5 1b.trial can.Simply pay postman 98 cents when Habacure arrives.10 1h can $1.75.Act now as offer is limited.Habacure Canada 420 Lagauchetiere St.West, MONTREAL 3.To rid the trade of bad practices; more than 250 present the annual meeting of the Canadian Ayrshire Breeders’ Association, held this year in Montreal, was voted one of the most enthusiastic and harmonious held in recent years. There were no contentious matters on the agenda and the main item up for discussion, that of the proposed levy under the new Dairy Products scheme, was settled in thrifty ‘Scotch fashion without undue delay. The most interesting part of the day's programme was undoubtedly the luncheon which was brightened considerably by a refreshing dissertation by Dr.W.H.Brittain, vice-principal of Macdonald College, on the place of science in modern agriculture, and the sly wit of W.L.Carr, Huntingdon, who brought greetings from the Holstein-Friesian Association, Timely recognition of two well- known Ayrshire breeders was made by the meeting when life membership was unanimously conferred on Col.Harry McGee, owner of Harnelbel Farm, Islington, Ont., president of the Royal Winter Fair Association, vice-presi- dent of the T.Eaton Company, and M.St.Marie, veteran Ayrshire breeder and well-known farmer of ‘Compton, Que.Another interesting ceremony was the presentation for the first time of the Honor Scrolls to owners of Ayrshire cows which have excelled in life-time production of milk.À gold seal certificate went to cows which had given one hundred thousand pounds of milk in their lifetime, a silver certificate to those with a total of seventy- five thousand, and a bronze seal certificate to those with (fifty thousand or better.Outstanding among the cows thus honored was Springburn Lovely Pet owned by W.W.Skinner, Senneville, Que., which received number one gold certificate as the world’s champion long distance Ayrshire milk producer, with a production so far of over 140,000 Ibs.The secretary's report brought out the fact that there had been a decrease in revenue, due mostly to the reduced registration fees decided on last year and to a drop of 7 per cent in the number of transfers made during 1934.There was, however, an increase in registration of 732 or 8% per cent, as well as an increase of 152 in membership to 1775.The transfer of Ayrshires was considerably enhanced during the last quarter of the year when breeders in Eastern Ontario and Eastern Quebec were able to export large numbers of cattle to New York State provided they had placed their herds under the Federal Test system for Abortion.81 @ CETTING COOD@ RESULTS INGHOME: AL INA AN DEPENDS UPON THE PIT NA A3 (AR Knowing this to be true, most women feel they cannot afford to take year.Standardization of Shorthorn Type Required “Whereas the reputation of the Shorthorn breed has been built up on its special adaptability to produce in combination both milk and beef under average farm conditions; “And whereas breeding developments of recent years have led to an alarming lack of uniformity of type within the breed, resulting in considerable confusion, not only amongst the majority of those already interested in Shorthorns, but also in the minds of prospective breeders; “Therefore be it resolved that we, the members of the Dominion Shorthorn Breeders Association, being firmly convinced that profitable milk production from Shorthorn cows is not antagonistic to profitable beef production in the same animal, are of the opinion that it is essential that the Canadian Shorthorn Association should, without further delay, take steps to officially establish a type suitable to meet present day conditions.” Thus read a resolution moved by W.A.Dryden of Brooklin and seconded by Dr.Chant of Foam Lake, Sask., at the 49th annual meeting of the Canadian Shorthorn Association held in Toronto on February 5th and carried unanimously after healthy discussion. It crystallized the thought that pervaded the meeting and alco what was emphasized the previous day at the Dual Purpose Shorthorn Club meeting. As a consequence each of the two bodies have instructed the incoming directors io name a committee of three to sit under the chairmanship of the president or the vice- MARCH 9th.1985 WHY HIS HEADACHES CEASED Wife Put Kruschen in His
