page show (1) the present condition of that portion of Mount Royal Park, Montreal, familiarly known as Fletcher's Field; and (2) the manner in which it may be improved in appearance should the city decide to carry into effect certain recommendations made not long ago by the Province of Quebec Architects\u2019 Association.Illustration No.1 shows the undeveloped state of Park avenue above Duluth, and the need which now exists of grass strips and tree planting.The summit of the hill, too, should be lowered.Nos.2 and 3 show the disreputable drinking fountain which at present disfigures Park avenue by its unsightly appearance and advertisements.The ground around this fountain is always cov- cred with pools of water.No.4 shows the need of good houses fronting on the Park.The balconies, enclosed stairways and clothes\u2019-lines which form conspicuous features of the houses in the illustration, are a disfigurement to the Park.Nos.5 and 6 show the civic \u201cdump\u201d and M.S.R.fences which spoil the appearance of that portion of Fletcher's Field lying between Park avenue and the Hotel Dieu.Shrubs, vines, flowers and seats should take the place of the \u201cfences,\u201d and the ;
