The Balkan nations and Greece are persistent in their determination that Turkey must arrange directly with them, the terms of peace without the intervention of the European Powers.This attitude is emphasized in a statement from official sources which gays: “The Turkish proposal of peace is satisfactory insofar as it shows a desire to prevent further bloodshed.‘Ag regards foreign intervention, however, there seems to .be no chance of the Balkan states listening to any foreign counsels while treating for the arrangement of conditions of peace.Balkan states and Turkey direct.TURKEY, CRUSHED BY | BALKAN ALLIES ASKS | BRITAIN TO INTERCEDE Meanwhile, Fighting Continues-Panic ir Salon- ika-Warships of Powers in Race | for East.LEADING POINTS IN TO-DAY'S DESPATCHES Tewfik Pasha in consultation to-day two | hours with Sir Edward Grey.i Germany and Austria not yet officially advised of peace overtures.Germany has to-day despatched ser, sails round Cattegat; out, knowing that Jerry Austin, with Mr.Norman, brother of the well known dancing master of Montreal, and a Mr.Haynes, of Montreal, were out in a flat-bottomed boat duck shooting, and thought the cries were from them.By the aid of glasses he saw the party in difficulties on the lake, and at the same moment the company’s motor boat ‘came along ready to, render any assistance that might b required.Fortunately, Austin shouted they were all right, and the incident closed ‘for the time.The next morning, however, two bodies were found and a motor boat half full of water.The boat was named ‘Unie,’ and contained two mackintoshes two grips filled with seven hundred cartwdges;;
