violence ending in murder, but that is not to say that batterings do not occur in this region.It does.Local police departments, specifically the Huntingdon and_Ste.Martine detachmigrits, confirm that not a week passes when they do not receive a complaint of conjugal violence.All the municipalities are affected.Calls are received from Huntingdon, God- manchester, Hinchin- brooke, Ormstown, In Quebec, French classes for children in English schools start in Kindergarten while Enlish classes for French children start only in Grade 4.English is the main language in Canada, so shouldn't it be important for French children to learn English as soon as possible, considering Quebec is a part of Canada?There is also another rule that states that if both parents are educated in the French system they cannot send their children to English school.So there are not only rules for English people, but also for open-minded French people who want their children to learn English.The government has no right to say which school a child should go to because of their parents language.Parents are supposed to raise their children as they want, aren't they?It\u2019s great to learn new languages and new cultures, but there should not be rules on it, and they should not make languages or cultures seem inferior to others - they are all equal.The government has made me feel like an outsider in my own province, and I'm not the only person who feels this way.1 know many people who plan to leave Quebec as soon as possible.It\u2019s really too bad that we feel we have to leave our own homes in order to be happy.If the government doesn\u2019t smarten up soon, that is what\u2019s going to happen! an occasion to greet a relative from Waterloo who had not been back to visit the Howick and area for 40 years, Kenneth MacGre- gor, formerly of Riverfield, presently Ottawa, was well known by a few, but many others had never had the ' Opportunity to meet him.Two other relatives, on bearing of the proposed reunion, re-shuffled their schedule and purchased tickets to fly from London, England to be part of the gathering.Dr.Jim and Muriel MacGregor, from Wimborne in Dorset were the overseas guests at the party.Guests were greeted at the United Church in Howick, signed the guest book and proceeded to the Church Hall for a half-hour of visiting and photo taking.Everyone began renewing old friendships, reminiscing, and in some cases, putting face to names.It was quite evident that Jean Furcall and her committee had organized an evening of varied events.A delicious buffet supper was enjoyed.Janet Rice and her staff of three young ladies saw to every need and wish.Everyone helped themselves from a wide selection of hot and cold dishes and proceeded to the well- appointed tables set with blue ciothes.floral centerpieces and candles.The food and conversation that naturally ensued set a congenial tone for the rest of the evening.Jean Furcall.as emcee, spoke briefly, welcoming everyone, telling of the arrangements.plans and called on various guests to say a few words \u2014 each bringing greetings from their branch of the family and sharing a few anecdotes.This proved to be a very interesting and may it be said, enlightening phase of the evening.Included in the gathering were de ce que furent les évé- nements au cours des mois de juillet, août et septembre passés, rappelant au passage dates, faits et déclarations.De ce côté, rien de nouveau en somme.Pour messieurs Lopez et Poitras, il demeure illusoire de croire que la crise est terminée.Selon eux, trop de faits prouvent au contraire que la réserve demeure en quelque sorte une poudriére, ou tout le moins une autochtones sous la contrainte des armes.Monsieur Lopez a toujours été un tenant de la manière forte dans ce dossier alors que, dès le début de la crise il avait exigé l'intervention des forces armes, et ce lors du premier affrontement de 1988.**C\u2019est à ce moment qu'il aurait fallu nettoyer la réserve de ses armes et de son trafic illégal de cigarettes\u2018 a-t-il dit.Il considère donc aujourd'hui la réserve de Kanawake comme une zone extrêmement dangereuse, alors qu'à la moindre occasion les autochtones rebrandiront les armes, menés en cela par les Warriors qu\u2019il considère comme - de dangereux criminels.Monsieur Lopez conclut que le Gouvernement du Québec n\u2019a pas été à la hauteur de la situation dans ce dossier, alors que, selon lui, cette crise aurait pu être réglée dans une dizaine de jours.Il refute du même coup le blame à l'endroit du Canada pour le manque de connaissances des intervenants dans ce dossier.Dans ses récriminations, il ajoute le fait que les Indiens d'Oka changent trop souvent de porte- paroles alors que le défilé de leurs représentants fait preuve de manque de connaissances.Considérant donc la situation comme des plus préoccupantes, Palais de justice de Valleyfleld, le ler novembre dernier.Rappelons que Doug George avait été accusé du meurtre de Harold Edwards, 32 ans, lors de la fusillade survenue le ler mai dernier opposant les groupes pour et contre les maisons de jeux.Douglas George, âgé de 35 ans, avait été arrêté par les agents de la Sûreté du Québec, le 13 mai dernier, en même temps que certains autres membres de la
