Municipalités of, the Province of Quebec held nn February 22nd 1968, Mr, Maurice Tessier, president of ‘he group.said he was very Sappy at the way the brief “on municipal functions had heen received by the provin- jal authorities as well as by ‘he information media.The president is certain that a meeting of the provincial authorities and representatives of UM.Q.will take place in the near future, The members of the executive committee, at their meeting held at the secretariate, prepared the main items of a second “brief” which will be presented in the near future to the Quebec government and which is a follow-up of the cruise-congress of September 1967.All the resolutions of that congress pertaining to municipal funetions had been regrouped in view of the preparation of the first “brief”: however, as Mr.Tessier declared, a considerable number of the adopted resolutions Brian McFarlane, Tommy Kerr.All in all summer and used by both children and adults.The island too will provide a place where picnics can be held and other sports indulged in.The whole should become a centre of attraction and a place to go for old and young alike.In order to make this come true, the help of everyone is needed and those who have rot already contributed to the fund are asked to do so during this renewed campaign.This campaign will be much more thorough than the previous one because the objective is in sight and it only needs a little more effort to push it over the top.There ave been many comments on the artist’s sketch of what the County Civie Centre ‘has in mind and more people are able to see a better picture of what is in the offing.Other much smaller centres than Hunting- don have pools in operation and successfully so, thus there is no reason why we here cannot do as well.AM it wants is a shoulder to wheel io push the objective over the top.Thlat one last heave is the one most likely to do it.SUCCESSFUL MILITARY WHIST A very Marvin Green, Brantford and R.Roy Simmons, Finch.Rowan Stansell, Aylmer, Ont., was the fifth director to be elected.During the business meeting, says a report, the members exercised their prerogative by amending a recommendation from the Board of Directors in connection with the selection of an Ayrshire Judge at the 1968 Royal Winter Fair, In brief, it was recommended that the exhibitors be permitted to record their choice of one of the six men named in the recommendation.However, the mecting proposed theces, | Dundee DUNDEE -— On Saturday Cary Carpentier, elder son of Mr.and Mrs, Charles Carpen- tier, left Montreal by train for British Columbia.Cary will begin his officer's training at a large military hase in Chilli.wack, beginning with the rank of Second lieutenant.Since his father came to Dundee as a student minister in Zion United Church, Cary has attended Salmon River Central School in Fort Covington, N.Y., where he graduated in 1967.He will be missed by young and older, being an active young man, The best name of Owen Richards, Red Deer, Alta, as Judge, rather than by a vote by exhibitors.Mr.Richards was Reserve Judge last year and was one of the six proposed by the Directors to he voted on hy exhibitors, Holsteins to France A Holstein Friesian Newsletter reports that a plane load of 58 purebred Holstein cattle has been shipped from Canada to France.Included were 9 bulls and 49 femalss, The females were selected and shipped by Anthony Roman, Unionville, Ont.; six of the bulls by Rockwood International, and the other three bulls by Interag, Port Perry.The females, consisting of nine cows, nineteen bred heifers and twenty.one open hoi fers, were consigned to nine different breeders, none of whom will receive more than six head cach.These cattle will be tested on French faring, under the same conditions -as the average dairy cattle in the herds, and will give French dairymen an opportunity to see how Canadian Holsteing compare with their own.The cattle are all of good quality, says the report, the cows having completed official production records, and the heifers are all from dams with official production records and classified at least Good Plus for type.Many famous Canadian bulls are represented in the hloodlines of these animals, in the sires and service sires.Oakburn Red Aster The February issue of The Ayrshire Digest carries a report of the Agyrahire section of the first World Dairy Show at the World Food Exposition which was held at Madison, Wisc., U.S.A.last September.The Dairy Show having heen comprised of more than 1.100 head of dairy cattle, Digests report is a photo- vaph, Ufled: ‘Oukburn Red As.nouly 10 years old, was USE Grand Champion”.A description winch well fits the appearance ol that animal, One of the features of oc The report reads, in pari: wishes of the commuaity are extended to him.Miss Martha Anustrong left on Sunday from Dorval Airport to resume her studies at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick uftér ÿ nsek'si recess.Mrs.W.D.Fraser spent à recent week with her family here.Mr, and Mrs.Donald Fraser and Bill spent a rocent Sunday in Farnham with Mr.and Mrs, A.E.Banber.Mrs.W.S.Smellie has returned home from a wcek in hospital following a fall when she injured her knee.University, Ottawa, and Anne Fraser of McGill University, spent the week-end at their respective homes.‘Kilbain KILBAIN — ‘The since sympathy of the community is extended to the Misses Lena, Mabel and Annie Brady on the death of their brother John, who passed away on Friday at the Montreal General Hospital;
