cleared of the white stuff in the usual fast time.Other picture on Page 9 No objections made to new fire station Not a single Huntingdon taxpayer turned up to object to the Town's new civic building and fire station at a meeting called for the purpose Monday night.The project was unanimously approved by council at its last meeting.A bylaw was passed permitting the spending of up to $115,000.Mayor Claude Pilon said Provincial government approval had been granted, and Federal acceptance would be forthcoming, under the federally-financed local incentive program.However, by law it was necessary to give the taxpayers an opportunity to veto the program.If 20 taxpayers objected at a special meeting \u2018called for the purpose, a civic referendum would have been necessary.However, the two hours the meeting was legally open Monday evening, not one taxpayer registered his opposition.The project, therefore, goes ahead.Council hopes that construction will get under way about the middle of March.Two forces join hunt Quebec Provincial and New York State Police have been seeking a Rochester, N.Y.district youth along the border in, the Fort Covington - Churubusco area.Brian Everhart, 18, of Irondequoit, N.Y.has been missing from his home since Feb.11.He left behind a map with points including various border crossings in the Fort Covington area underlined.The youth is a member of the Civil Air Patrol attached to the group\u2019s land rescue Contract awarded À contract for $69,841 has been awarded by the Provincial Government for two highway jobs in Beauharnois county.Sauvé the home should he K.of C.Carnival success Last weekend's snowstorm failed to dampen enthusiasm at the Knights of Columbus carnival in Huntingdon.More than a thousand people, including visitors from surrounding municipalities, joined in the activities to make the occasion an outstanding success.Carnivls have been held before by the different schools, but for the town it was the first time that such festivites were organized.Many took advantage of the event to enjoy winter sports in spite of the inclement weather.One of the worst snowstorms of the winter was sweeping the area and a few of the activities had to be cancelled, but all-in-all it was a great success.Friday night, a torchlight parade with snowmobiles was held.As there was little snow on the streets, the town employes had to put down snow to allow the parade to get under way.Some 45 snowmoiles took part.Among the dignitaries in the parade were Roger Latreille, carnival president; the Misses Lise Riel, Francine Lavallée and Denise Leblanc, carnival duchesses; Mayor Claude Pilon, honorary president of Aberdeen-Angus cattle will become more popular in the Chateauguay Valley and throughout Quebec if a Hun- tingdon was elected at the annual meeting in Sherbrooke of the beef cattle group.Mr.Hunziker has been an Angus breeder for the past five years and like all ardent cattlemen is a strong supporter of the breed of his choice, He and his association are anxious to correct the impression among some farmers, he said this week, that the Angus is \u2018\u2018a millionaire's teddy bear\u201d.Blakes, the familiar term for Aberdeen- Angus, have a number of advantages over other beef breeds, he said.They are naturally hornless, so there is less trouble in the pasture and fewer bruised carcasses.They are hardy soldats a Huntingdon: alors, les vendredi et samedi soirs, il se dirigeait vers le camp militaire afin de vendre des paphtes et des \u2018hotdogs\u2019.Le magasin débuta en 1949 à sa résidence.En 1950, il fit l\u2019achat d'une vieille école fermée de deux étages.Il coupa l'étage inférieur, et il conserva l'étage supérieur.Avec cela, il fit un travail énorme afin d'édifier le magasin présent.Il creusa la cave à la main.M.Pivin se souvient des premiers débuts de son magasin.Il expliqua que le tout fonctionnait à merveille.Ensuite, en 1956.il recut une licence de bière.M.Pivin ne fut point épargné par la maladie: suite d'un accident lors de son jeune age, M.Pivin fut opéré à plusieurs reprises.Il dut séjournéer 15 fois dans une hôpital pour différents traitements.II recut a trois reprises les derniers sacrements, soit une fois a Montréal, une fois à Urm- stown et une fois a Hun- tingdon.En 1956, dans un hôpital de Montréal.il fut opéré, et le docteur lui demanda alors si son testament était fait.M.Pivin répondit que non; c'est alors que le docteur lui dit de le faire le plus tôt possible, car il devait lui rester seulement deux ans à vivre.M.Pivin dût lutter.et il en sortit vainqueur.Depuis deux ans.il ne fit aucune présence à l'hôpital.M.Pivin s\u2019occupa aussi pendant trois années.soit 1938, 1939 et 1940, de la livraison d'un journal.\u2018Le Soleil du Québec: il délivrait près de 900 copies de ce journal chaque jour.M.Pivin tient à remercier tous ceux qui l'ont encouragé durant ses années d'opération.Il faut noter aussi que M.Pivin a vendu durant de nombreuses années le Journal The Gleaner à son magasin.II faut noter aussi que Mme Pivin aida grandement son époux dans les besognes régulières du magasin.Leurs deux garçons aidèrent aussi grandement: André acheta le camion à patates de son père et continua ce genre de travail.Les deux enfants de M.et Mme Pivin sont dans le monde des affaires: André est le propriétaire du restaurant Pivin Patates,
