increase the band strength, especially the * bugle and trumpet section, due to the recent drum addition.The First Company is looking forward to the Battalion competition when it will challenge the Brigade bands for a Battalion Mace.Bible Class this week will continue the course commenced on the life of David, and Lance Corporal Harold Fairhead will take charge of the hymns while Warrant Officer Robert Beal will lead the singing.Corporal Robert Morrow is to read the lesson.H.8.ROSS SPEAKS Howard S.Ross, K.C., D.C.L.addressed a large attendance of the Young Couples\u2019 Club of West- mount endorsed by the association as were those elected to the Library Board.The association holds executive meetings regularly throughout the year at which matters of general interest to the taxpayers and citizens as a whole are dealt with.Reports resulting from a good many of these meetings will be read at Tuesday night's open session.Primarily the association acts as a spokesmen for the taxpayers of the city in all matters in which they are concerned.LECTURES PLANNED ON PUBLIC SPEAKING Under the leadership of Evan McCormick, a series of eight lectures dealing not only with the practical but also the specific psychological aspects of public speaking is to be held at the Westmount branch of the Y.M.C.A.commencing on Jan.24.Changes Made in Bus, Car Stop Signs on Sherbrooke In order to speed up service and provide the greatest convenience to the majority of residents, the Montreal Tramways Company is making a number of changes in the location, and a reduction in the number of bus and street car stop signs along Sherbrooke street in Westmount.The street car stop on Sherbrooke at Prince Albert and the one at Sherbrooke and Kensing ton affecting trams travelling in both directions, have been abolished.The white pole at the east side of Redfern where east-bound cars formerly stopped has been removed to the west side of Red- fern.Signs indicating intersections where buses will take on and let off passengers are to be placed at 9 standard distance of 60 feet back from the crossings, where they step with the exception of Victoria avenue.The signs will 4 show only that the crossing ahead is a bus stop and passengers should wait at the intersection for the bus and not at the sign.Traffic is forbidden to park from the bus sign to the crossing ahead.When the changes are made west-bound buses will stop on Sherbrooke street from Greene to Claremont avenues as follows: Greene, Grove Park.Argyle.Met- calfe, Strathccna, La nsdowne, Grosvenor, Victoria \u2014 at the west side of the intersection, and Clare- mont.East-bound: Claremont, Victoria \u2014stopping slightiy ahead of the crossing, Roslyn, Arlington, Mount Stephen, Metcalfe, Redfern, Clarke and Greene avenue.All changes in the positions of the signs are being made under authorization of the Montreal Tramways Commission and only after careful study carried out over a lengthy period.large magnificent
