the Westmount Examiner will the Scouts whose members are solici- during the next three weeks and the publishers of this paper express the wish of the Overseas Parcels League, and the Royal St.Lawrence Yacht Club Sea Scouts, in asking residents to give them a cordial welcome. The boys are working entirely voluntarily to help this joint war cause, and are sparing no effort to bring the campaign to a successful conclusion, However, while they have found by far the majority of persons only too eager to co-operate, there have been certain instances where domestic servants and janitors have refused to let them see the householder. For this reason it is suggested that those wishing to subscribe inform their servants or janitor of their intention. The Christmas Edition of the Examiner, which is delivered free to residents 51 weeks of the year, will be sold for ten cents.Of this amount five cents will go to the Overseas Parcels League and three cents to the war fund of the Royal St.Lawrence Yacht Club Sea Scouts.Besides the usual coverage of local events, including general news, women's activities, theatre features, social news and sports, the Christmas edition will contain many features of unusual interest, Christmas stories, articles, and news in picture.Decision to sell this edition was decided upon as a way in which this paper and its readers could make a contribution towards the country\u2019s war effort. The Overseas Parcels League whose president is Mrs.L.S.Wallgate of 424 Lans- dowue avenue, undertakes a service that is urgently needed. It supplies heavy turtle neck sweaters, socks, mitts, and many other articles to men of the British minesweepers and trawlers. All it: members give their time voluntarily and the league operates without the slightest overhead. It has a charter under the War Charities Act and a membership of 300.Since its formation in Nov.e 1939, it has already sent 2.000 articles overseas, including 1,000 sweaters. The war fund of the Royal interviews with problem cases and to interviews regarding school courses. It is, rather, the central theme around which the Junior High School or the Intermediate School is built.1t is an absolute necessity for the school that hopes to adequately care for the needs of the individual pupil. We have been told that the good schoo] allows flexibility.1t rests then, in a large part, with the guidance organization in the school to determine the individual needs and see they are carried out.Of course, many people will say this ts the work of the principal: but the principal should be an administrator and he should see that others capable of carrying out details get the work to do.The guidance efforts in ths school should be in the hands of en educator who is speclally trained in guidance and the principal can see to the coordination of the department as a whole. The guidance department can provide a school contact with the home that is so sadly lacking in the majority of our schools, The school and parents must work together to produce the best results.Home contracts are very valuable in knowing the back ground of the children. There is a need for some one to be responsible for the coilec- tion and filing of special data related to the pupils. This, again, can be done through the guidance department.Guidance is needed because we humans need help.We like to talk things over with someone.Young people are incapable of solving life's problems efficiently without aid. Many critical situations arise and decisions have to be made and it is very necessary that adequate help be provided in order that these decisions may be wisely made.It should be stated here through, that proper guidance does not make decisions for -our young people. The function of the local Intermediate School because it is necessary for parents and pupils to make important decisions during the pupils\u2019 time in this section.sibilities of students is of value anywhere in the school life, but it is particularly important where major decisions must be made at this early age. While economic guidance is not as vital in our school as it is in the Senior High School, it still has an important place.Special vocational speakers will probably be invited to speak Lu the pupils.Other group guidance will be given on how to apply for positions, and group guidance will be offered on the demunds of industry.Much can be done in social guidance by any school. There are pupils in even our best districts in need of help. Some are unable to pay for necessary equipment, Others in a new school are without friends. Many have trouble at home. There is an unlimited field for guidance work here.Pupil guidange to function properly should extend through the whole school.Very little can be done by one or two teachers alone.1is successes will be measured by the degree of its acceptance by the whole staff, WILL SPEAK.\u201cThe Invasion of the Netherlands,\u201d will be the subject of an wife and is tortured when other girls remind him of her.Joe always clalmed that he didn't go in for that romantie stuff. At least he thought he didn't until he met a waitress, played by Ann Actually good posture Is a normal relaxed position of the body held comfortably without tension.Facing the world demands poise!
