roars of laughter in his portrayal of “The Kirk Elder” and “The Oldest Inhabitant.”” In these gems of Scottish pawky humour Finlay gave amole evidence of why he is regarded as Probably, this is why small, quick-to-do knitted articles are in such demand. The pretty tea-cosy and egg warmer set pictured above belongs in this category. These attractive table accessories will add a colorful note to the breakfast table and there'll be a hot cup of tea waiting for every member of the family no matter what time each one puts in an appearance, Paraplegics Aux.Reports Success Of Bridge, Tea The Women’s Auxiliary of The Paraplegic Association Quebec Division who held their semi-an- nual Bridge and Tea last Friday evening, December 1st, at the R.M.R.Armories, voted’ their party a great success, due to the faithful co-operation and large attendance by the old and new friends of the cause.Miss Inez Beaton, of West- mount, held the lucky drawing ticket that won her the Northern Electric Baby Champ Radio.Mrs.A.Mackay Receives At Liesse Hunt Reception The Liesse Hunt Incorporated of Dorval, Quebec, held a reception |.and dinner Wednesday evening at the Mount Royal Hotel. The guests were received by the president, Mr.A.O.Mackay, assisted by several members of the Board of Directors.Mrs.Norman B, Muir was in charge of arrangements and her committee included Mrs.J.H.Stewart, Miss E.L.Malin, and Mr.and Mrs.J.À, Clough. The Liesse Hunt is well-known locally for its charitable work on behalf of the Children’s Memorial Hospital, the S.P.C.A.and other worthy organizations.A plump, tender, Gatehouse PAGE THINTEEN CHRISTMAS SUGGESTION In the late winter months, ‘gnen people are tired of the cold weuth- er, there is nothing quite as nice as a trip to the South, with its sunshine and warmth and pleasant living. Why not decide that for this Christmas you will give some dear one a trip to Florida and Nas- | sau, in the company of congenial friends, with every thing possible having been arranged for comfort and enjoyment.Bureau have planned such a tour— for twenty days, first class travel all expense included.Leaving Montreal March 11th and returning March 30th.The party which will be limited, will be accompanied by Mrs.H.B.Pope, Telephone the Tobin Travel Bureau for particulars.in the finest hotels, all meals.1240 PEEL ST.RAD ID NB BE SN I IE ND MASI BM RN DIB DI NDF 3 XMAS GIFT SUGGESTION See Nassau In The Springtime A wonderfully interesting, all-expense party is being arranged by TOBIN'S TRAVEL BUREAU 20 Days .$520 Payable in Canadian funds Leaving Montreal March 11th, 1951.Returning Montreal March 30th, 1951.ACCOMPANIED BY MRS, H.Two days in New York, one day in Washington, five days In Miami Beach at the Floridian Hotel, ten days on the beautiful Island at one of the finest hotels, the Royal Victoria.includes all transportation and taxes, twin bedrooms and Reservations must be made EARLY TOBIN'S TRAVEL BUREAU pA Ask for our “Going Away” folder of Cruises and Tours ~ A and our 1953 European Tour Programmes.¥ EE EL D EEE BUR EVE AE VE EEE B.POPE Price bath PL.9613 Ÿ (i ESTABLISHED 1898 =x Wi I vite.oo The Most Difficult Hair Colouring Problems Modern developments in the art of hair colouring as practised by our experienced beauticians enable us to correct and glamourize your hair shade for the busy social season ahead.Consultation by Appointment — Phone WE.2765 UL.J.ROS REC'D, 4210 St.Catherine Street at Greene Avenue in Westmount Donald B.Ross, Proprietor Member—Master Ladies’ Hairdressers’ Guild of Montreal GRADE A TURKEYS GRADE A CAPONS Tobin's Travel - Turkey or Capon is an absolute necessity for the Christmas feast.Gatehouse quality foods will be sure to make your Holiday meals a complete success. Please let us have your order early.® FRESH BEEF TONGUE QUALITY MEAT BUYS ¢ SHOULDER LAMB CHOPS GRADE A DUCKS GRADE A FOWL Back Bacon Fresh Minced Suet GRADE A CHICKENS GRADE A BROILERS Schneider Hams Schneider Mince-Meat Ib.39¢ | Ib.29¢ Ib.39¢ Ib.59c e FRESH SPARE RIBS © STEWING LAMB | AIRBORNE FILLETS Received Daily Fresh Smelts Salmon Trout Whitefish Scotch Kippers Fresh Dore Fresh Herring Finnan Haddies Smoked Fillet Fresh Salmon Winnipeg Gold Eyes Sea Foods Green Shrimps Cooked Shrimps Fresh Scallops Bulk Oysters Shelled Oysters Boiled Lobsters Fresh Haddock Sole Fillets Fresh Halibut Smoked Salmon Haddock Fillets © We Have a Fine Assortmest of Garden-Fresh Fruit cri Vegetables © Gatehouse Stores Are Open From 8 am.to 6 p.m.Dolly For Your Shopping Convenience 0— While visiting Hawaii recently we made a tour of the fascinating open market stalls in Honolulu.flagrant leis, fruits and vegetables in gorgeous array, interspersed with ptrange dried fish and meats, and familiar foods from the mainland. Also on sale was taro—that starchy root, high in calcium, which the native Hawalians slice and hol, called “poi.” There were long Oriental egg plants; Basil Donn as Mr.Burgess, Candida’s father, made a fine rascal while Athea McLean was also well cast as the parson’s secretary with old maid's tendencies.Completing the cast, and supplying of Legal Medicine in solving the case and the latter, in a series of demonstrations, and with only the skeleton bones and a clump of ivy as alboratory clues, is able to identify the sex, age, height and probable occupation of the victim.Another ingenious experiment in which photographs are matched to a life-size scale of the skeleton’s skull identifies the victim as the missing B-girl and circumstantial evidence points to young Henry Shanway as her murderer. It was Shanway who drove away from the Grass Skirt Cafe with the B- girl when she was last seen alive. It looks like an open-
