Dr.” Rondeau’s medicine for eczema, rheumatism, etc.In 1894 Dr.Rondeau graduated from McGill in Dentistry.Since that time he has garnered numerous accolades.Among those is a Degree of Justice of the Peace from the Government, Chartered Member of the Municipal Association and a member of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the highest body of the Presbyterian and Greene avenue on Saturday while attempting to cross the street. She suffered a fractured arm and upper jaw and possible concussion , The car driven by Robert Key, 4560 Melrose avenue, was travelling west on Sherbrooke street at 15 miles per hour and Key told police he noticed the woman standing on the zone as he approached fo turn west on Greene avenue, As he made the turn he heard a bumping sound and got out of the car to find the woman lying on the road. The woman was taken to the Western Hospital by police.- City Buys Bakery On Melville Ave.The Canada Bread Company on Melville street has been purchased by the City of Westmount, it was learned yesterday.‘The City plans to tear down the present site and resell the land for residential purposes. All legal deeds pertaining to the land have been signed. The property was gold for $31,000.The bakery has been operating on a residential street in West- mount for the past 50 years. The property was formerly own- ned by James Hayes who sold it in 1904 to John Cunningham, who operated it as a bakery.Cunningham died in 1910 and the property was sold two years later to the Canada Bread Company Limited. When a bylaw was passed later making Melville Avenue a residential street the city could do nothing as the bakery's rights were already established, The City has been eager to acquire the site for years.R.C.A.S.C.Auxiliary part time or full time. The reply was that he earned $8,000 per year and that it wasn't a full time job.It was pointed out that he is a C.A.and has an office. One man stated that Mr.Dun- ton devotes many hours to his work and is not overpaid in any respect.A large part of the criticism was aimed at the Board for the fantastic amount of money it spends on “extra unnecessaries” in building a new school. One parent pointed out that a shooting gallery had to be done away with to provide space for an extra classroom.A ludicrous remark made by a parent was that so many clocks are in the buildings, that they must be training the students to become clock watchers when they go out into the business world.Three methods to bring about higher salaries were suggested.1.To appeal to the Provincial Government for assistance.; 2.Increasing the mill rate of | Montreal Protestant property owners.3.An increase in the 1 per cent sales education tax.A motion to call another meeting al the convenience of Chairman Dunton was defeated.A text of the proposed resolution presented to the Westmount Home and School Association follows: Whereas the parents of pupils attending the High Schools in Westmount feel they must strive to remove anything which adversely affects the progress and development of their children on the latter's pathway to full citizenship; and Whereas the said progress and development is being adversely affected and the said children are not receiving at present the benefit from their school- (Continued on page 2) PRICE FIVE CENTS many School Board Criticized By American Elms to new positions along Sherbrooke Street, the arboreal population has been 1e- stored to its former status, City Manager T.J.Hughes told The Examiner this week. The transplanting of trees from other Westmount streets and Parks was undertaken by the City to replace trees removed during the recent widening of Sherbrooke Street.More trees were removed then, but the eleven replacements have been distributed more evenly. The trees were selected after a survey was made of all - public parks and Westmount streets. They are petween 10 and 15 years apes at and Sl Bl ui “Dagat - a, Transplanting was accomplished with the aid of a flatbed trailer- truck and a mobile crane. Each tree has been placed in its posie tion and final steps will be come pleted when their roots thaw during the spring.Transplanting was started in December with the digging to remove trees and roots. The plan was to allow a bulb of earth to freeze around the roots, and then to move the earth to the new location.A thaw in January halted the operation, and it was resumed when the earth became hard enough for moving.Until the.spring, each tree will be held in position with wire braces.Final trimming WITHOUT WARNING Carbon monoxide gas is a deadly poison that, in the form of gas, may seep into a car and cause death to the occupants. It is exceedingly dangerous to start the car engine in a closed garage. The gas, being invisible, odorless and tasteless, gives no warning of its presence, its victims very rarely being aware of its effects in time to help themselves. If there is any odor at all of gas fumes in a car while driving, there should be immediate investigation by a qual- ified mechanic, to check fuel system.and heating installation.: WOMEN'S INSTITUTE “Light Through The
