out in Westmount it was noted this week.Police say the situation is becoming serious.A resident reported that on one evening no less than three persons approached him within 15 minutes and requested the usual \u201cdime for a cuppa coffee.\u201d The sudden outbreak in the suburbs is believed traceable to an apparent \u201ccrackdown\u201d on such activities by police in downtown areas due to the approach ol the tourist season.In Westmount the nuisance | was nol confined to begging on the streets and in many cases the offenders appeared at the door of homes, usually asking for a meal, Westmoum police that the influx will be short- lived.\"We pick up panhandlers at times, but we make it so hot for them they seldom bother our citizens, said Inspector Gough.\u201cIf the ae- cused has no record parking area between the library and the park will be widened.NEW FLORAL CLOCK SITE: The City\u2019s famous floral cluck will be relocated in the centre of the formal gardens.MOUND AREA NEAR SHERBROOKE: An earth mound with planting located behind the formal garden is planned to create \u201ca background to stop the eye as well as a baffle for the children\u2019s play area beyond.\u201d MALLS.PLEACHED TREE CANOPY: A paved mall area with a pleached tree canopy is planned in front of Victoria Hall extend- jng around the east side so as to unity the Library and Palm House with the hall.The driveway in front of Victoria Hall will be pulled away from the building entrance.LLARGER PONDS: Existing ponds will be redesigned and extended in concrete.A brand new.irregular-shaped pond is planned for the centre of the park connecting with the present duck pond by waterfall.WIDER PATHS: The main arterial paths will be widened to 10 feet, an increase of two feet.New secondary paths, five feet wide are planned.REVAMPED PLAY AREAS: The children\u2019s play areas would be divided by an overhead sun trellis and wash rooms.Benches are Ju- cated under the trellis so that parents can watch and supervise their children on either side and still be protected from the sun.To the North of the overhead trellis.the area provided will accommodate existing play equipment for pre-school children.Teo the South the area accommodates existing play equipment for tots.NEW REST ROOMS: It was recommended that the existing rest rooms be removed once the new buildings are erected.Their
